SINKY SUNK FOR HAMPDEN BUT SHORTY’S READY

CELTIC crock Scott Sinclair will MISS the Betfred League Cup Final against Aberdeen at Hampen on Sunday, as CQN told you yesterday.

Even worse news is that the exciting, goalscoring winger is now expected to be ruled out for a month.

However, Leigh Griffiths will hand Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers a boost by returning to training today.

But Sinclair will sit out the Hampden clash with the Dons and the festive fixtures.

He strained his hamstring in the first-half against Barcelona and was taken off at half-time on Wednesday night.unspecified-14

Boss Rodgers said afterwards he had substituted Sinclair purely as a precaution.

But the flair player, who was replaced by James Forrest, is now facing weeks out.

Griffiths, last season’s 40-goal man, injured his hamstring playing for Scotland against England at Wembley a fortnight ago.

The Hoops hitman missed last Friday’s 1-0 victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park and then Wednesday’s Champions League clash with the Catalan giants.

Rodgers has yet to name his squad for Hampden.

But Griffiths is desperate to be involved and will rejoin the first-team squad at Lennoxtown this morning in a bid to prove his fitness.

However Rodgers may opt for James Forrest in the wide left position and Paddy Roberts on the right wing. This would mean Callum McGregor dropping to the bench.

There were several social media polls earlier in the week asking if supporters had a choice on one victory this week, would they prefer to beat Barcelona or win the Betfred Cup Final on Sunday.

Somewhat surprisingly 65% opted for a Cup Final win rather than a famous Champions League victory against probably the best club side in the world.

So there’s the priority Celtic, go win us that cup!
