Sky conspiracy to slur Celtic fans

185

We live in a time when conspiracies are more difficult to pull off than they used to be.  Information is more open, distributed, analysed with that secondary analysis distributed in a way that was not possible when most of us started our careers.

Before social media, hundreds of incredulous Spanish-speaking viewers would have exclaimed, “He didn’t say that!” at Alfredo Morales Sky Sports interview and translation, each in isolation, with only their immediate family to hear.  Back then, it was easy to get away with distorting news and information.  That made Celtic the easiest target in Scotland, just think back to the daily distortions placed on Fergus McCann, which went without coordinated opposition.

I have done a few translations in my time.  They are never published literally [“astounded of forehead” apart] as grammar and sentence structure protocols differ, so you have to fit the translated words into acceptable prose.  But, inserting “They were saying offensive and racist words” into a translation when no such accusation was expressed, is clear evidence of one or more people at Sky conspiring to slur the reputation of Celtic fans.

We both know that Sky, the corporate body, could not care less about Celtic or Scottish football.  This incident will be an embarrassment to the ethical standards of the broadcaster, which I expect will be sorted out by bosses in London, who would do well to consider Kris Boyd’s comments on Leigh Griffiths “mental strength” in the current context.

It tells you more about Scotland, our past as well as our present, than it does about Sky.  Celtic might control the leagues and cups, but other aspects of social, political and corporate life have deep-rooted hostilities, which they cannot hide.

You will see every dirty trick in the book used between now and May as resentment festers at the gaping chasm between unrivalled success and abject failure.  What they don’t know, is that these acts will only serve to unite and strengthen Celtic.

Stand up for the Champions, as someone around here was fond of saying.

  1. The deficit arguement is fake news:

“The 3% target is actually a guideline which most EU members (including Germany) have breached – which is perfectly acceptable under the Maastricht rules if there is an economic problem. Scotland, either as an applicant or full member, would have to agree a medium-term plan to seek to reduce any potential large deficit. But the existence of such a deficit (particularly if the result of a hard Brexit) is not a barrier to entry. Also, the Scottish Government runs a budget surplus, not a deficit.” por cierto

  2. Celtic have been charged by the Scottish FA over confrontations in games against Partick and Hamilton, with Accies also called to account by the governing body. The SFA’s compliance offer has issued notices of complaint to the clubs alleging misconduct

Thistle game as well? Football authorities in this country are a fkn joke

GDT – neither Julien nor Ayer looked too hot against Hamilton i.e. plastic pitch, physical striker/team.

  4. Good evening CQN from an astonished Garngad

WTF – we are being cited for players conduct in 2 games, the SFA are making Scottish football even more of a joke. Thus is because the Huns got cited for the misconduct of players and coaches on the 29th, what an embarrassment. Time for Celtic to get another QC onside and start challenging these feckwits.

Now to the important stuff, hammer these horrible cnuts tonight.

This one is growing arms and legs. They did fine. Not perfect but more than enough to allow us to win the game 4-1.

  7. BT Sport’s TV schedule showing no coverage of Celtic game, with Spurs game on two channels. Shurely shome mishtake?

We (Celtic) should be asking Sky WHY did they amend an interview with Morelos that effectively puts the club in the dock and shows the supporters in a negative manner, what was in it for them? We have never effectively replaced club advocate Paul McBride (RIP) and to be honest I’m surprised we don’t see more of this type of slandering, we never seem to do anything about it, as a club we are hopeless when it comes to defending ourselves against the forces of evil. Who knows why that is, a complete and utter mystery.

Tonight and Pittodrie on the 16th are two massive games. If we can win both (assuming we take care of hearts at CP) then I think we’ll have taken a massive step towards the 9. Focus, Celtic.

“BBC Scotland has issued an apology after ex-footballer Michael Stewart went on a rant about Rangers’ director of communications on its Sportsound radio show.

The Sportsound show has not been made available as a podcast after Mr Stewart, now a football pundit, launched into a heated debate over former sports journalist Jim Traynor, who leads the Ibrox club’s communications.

Before Tuesday’s show, host Kenny McIntyre read out an apology live on air.

He said: “Before we get to tonight’s topics we apologise to James Traynor for the discussion on Sportsound last night

“It was not fair and balanced and he did not have the opportunity to respond.

“On this occasion we did not adhere to our editorial values and standards and we have reminded those concerned of their responsibility to follow our guidelines while working for the BBC.”

My goodness, maybe we should hire a ‘Jim Traynor’ type, they get apologies without even asking for them!

So does that involve a reduction in public spending, an increase in taxes, or both?

Does the agreement have to be in place before joining?

And how would the agreement be enforced?

  16. “Then if there’s an opportunity with a bigger team it’ll happen.”….Mr Morelos really is the gift that keeps on giving, unless of course something has been lost in translation (apparently that sort of thing can happen!) ;)

  17. Today’s official starting line up v Motherwell ……

I see Sky have slipped out an apology. Trying to bury bad news when we are focused on tonight’s game.

  19. One game and one referendum at a time.

Very strong bench tonight, gives Lenny plenty options.

Only one way to keep the pressure on, keep scoring and keep winning.

    No easy task of course.

This whole Jabbagate/Alfredogate/Michael Stewartgate business is connected. Jabba is a reptile and now he has managed to get Sky to do his bidding. Not a distasteful task as distortion is the Murdoch media’s stock in trade. It was so bad that even they had to shut down one of their own papers.

BBC Scotland’s role is the more sinister. It would appear now that the reptile known as Jabba has some form of veto over the BBC’s choice of pundit. For all we know this Jabba thing may even script the musings of the likes of McCann, Boyd and ‘Coisty’.

Celtic FC’s handling of Alfredogate has been admirable to date. They haven’t wasted their time on issues out of their control. This is a battle they can win. And I know of one otherf major victory which never saw the light of day.
