Sky missed the target, Guidetti mojo

315

A place at the top of the league is the prize no offer for Celtic tonight, as well as the chance to atone for a couple of ropey performances earlier in the season.  The penalty-aided draw at Celtic Park against Motherwell was perhaps our worst display of the season, while a late collapse at Fir Park against 10 men uncovered serious vulnerabilities.

The Fir Park game is most memorable as the day John Guidetti lost his mojo.  He could have had a hat-trick that afternoon but misfired and hasn’t recovered.  He’s no longer an automatic starting choice, but if he gets on, he’ll have the perfect opportunity to bury his demons.

Do you think that despite his emotional state, Charles Green knew he Sky Sports’ Jim White would allow him to answer questions about money by talking about his wages, not the onerous contracts which are proving to be a convenient earn-out for those who were in at the start?

As an interview, it was compelling, but Sky missed the target.

Get in early for the minute’s applause in memory of our friend Kano.  It will be a chance to reflect on his inimitable style.

CQN11 St Patrick’s Day Dinner Dance is on Friday 13 March, at the Kerrydale Suite, Celtic Park. The focus of an excellent night’s entertainment will be funding the construction of a kitchen at Chibwata Primary School in Malawi, for Mary’s Meals.

  3. We are now 20 days into the “Window”and no signature from JG yet. What is the hold up?.He must know the terms on offer.RD says he must make up his mind soon,as there are others on Celtics list.Really?.

He is not endearing himself to me with this messing about. All his talk has been positive, why no signature then?.I hate to see our club and fans messed around by players.

I am not worried by who goes out.I am sure Celtic, like every other club have notified the clubs who is available.Just a matter of waiting to see who is interested.

Just a last thought on JG.If he signed a pre-contract with say,Southampton, would we really want him until then?.

Score in the first half, Celtic!

In the 11 games this season where we have scored in the first half, we have won all 11.

In the 9 games where we haven’t scored in the first half, we have won 3, drawn 3 and lost 3.

    Apologies for the stat-bore!

If you have contact details for the likes of JPT at Celtic Park,I’m sure they will do their level best to package it up for you.

Also,if you set up a separate mail account, you can ask people to post their vids to it.

  7. On matters of Sevco and public opinion

Noticed the Daily Record when you visit their online page chuck in a poll usually at the foot of their Sevco articles. These polls give the smsm access to free public opinion pretty handy that if you want to run your headline stories on which way the wind blows.

The latest story with a poll is about Jack Irvine and Paul Murray after Irvine accuses Murray of being in an episode of the Living Dead (Zombie show).

The poll asks the punters to vote

Whose side are you on ?

    A) I’m with Jack Irvine – Murray’s a hypocrite

    Or

    B) I’m backing Murray – Irvine’s a disgrace

Of course these polls are open to a bit of Timpostery but nevertheless they probably reflect Sevconian opinion correctly.

The outcome of this poll so far is 60% for B 40% for A

This may explain why the smsm are so well embedded in the King camp. They have the weight of the Sevconian public on their side plus they too like the Sevconians want “real rangers men” in there.

Real rangers men equates to more Old Firm headlines which equates to more media sales

Now nobody can tell me there is not a self interest story here as far as the smsm are concerned.

So anyone waiting for the smsm to tackle this subject objectively will have a long wait.

For example there is a big story out there hardly touched after Green said Mc Coist refused a pay cut. The smsm have avoided the obvious here something Mc Coist could clear up if they asked him to respond to Greens accusations

Case of nothing to see there then yet Mc Coist is accused of self interest before the interests of the business and its employees as a whole.

So Mc Coist gets away Scot free of being accused of greed by the smsm yet Green et al have all been accused of lining their own pockets.

Well Mc Coist has certainly lined his and not a word said after Greens damning information.

He says he expects a smear campaign against himself and Dave King and in the same breath compares the Rangers board to Gerald Ratner. Hypocritical? You decide.

“If Mr Murray and Mr King ever do get anywhere near the club they are welcome to carry out a robust financial investigation. The Easdale brothers have never taken a penny from the club and nor have they claimed any expenses.

“One begins to wonder if we are not dealing with Paul McKenna as opposed to Paul Murray who appears to have hypnotised himself and his cohorts into obliterating the memory fact that they sold their beloved club for One Pound. Rangers men? You decide.”

The SMSM might have left out the “Paycut”bit, but plenty of Huns are on to it.Hun Media had plenty to say about it.

I know what you are saying about the polls.I think more than a touch of “Timfoolery”on these.

  14. To lose his mojo, Guidetti at least had to have one in the first place. Scepovic has yet to locate his, despite every chance afforded him by the manager.

The Jack Irvine of old was a person to be feared;his Black Museum of titbits on the good and not so a thing of legend.

Though not of fantasy-by and large. He tended to work on the principle that people had skeletons in the cupboard, and since he seemed to know most of them,QED.

That statement suggests,IMO,one of three things.

The Easdales aren’t paying him enough.

  18. In the General selection in December 1918 Sinn Fein won 73 of the 105 seats in Ireland. They chose not to go to Westminster but to assemble as a Revolutionary Parliament in Dublin. The first meeting of Dáil Éireann took place on this day in 1919 in the Round Room of the Mansion House, home of the Mayor of Dublin. When a roll was taken only 42 members were present. There were smirks when Lord Carson’s name was read out and the response “as lathair” (absent) was given as if he had missed his bus.

Eamon DeValera and Arthur Griffith were among many who were in jail and the response to their names was “Faoi Glas ag Gallaibh” – under lock and key by Foreigners.

Michael Collins and Harry Poland as they were wanted by the British and were also absent as they were in engaged in a plot to release Dev from jail.

That same day the War of Independence began when an ambush was staged at Soloheadbeg in Tipperary when two RIC men were shot while guarding a consignment of explosives.

Father Charles O’Neill, a native of Portglenone, attended the first meeting of Dáil Éireann and he was so taken with the number of Teachtaí Dáil Faoi Glas that when he returned to Whitehouse Parochial House on the shore of Belfast Lough where he was CC, that he sat down and wrote the song,The Foggy Dew
