SKY SPORTS are poised to bid a massive £100million for the TV rights to show SPFL football.
The satellite broadcasters have lined up a three-year deal worth £30million-plus-per-season which is likely to eclipse any offer from BT Sports.
Sky would take over coverage of Scotland’s top flight from the 2020/21 campaign which would see them claiming at least 60 matches a season, including the four Celtic v Sevco Rangers Glasgow derbies, plus end-of-season Premiership play-offs.
The present joint TV agreement between the stations – with each screening 30 matches a season and BT Sport also covering the Premiership play-offs – is worth just £21million-per-year.
Ex-Hoops fans’ favourite Kris Commons has been working as an analyst at Sky since quitting playing at the end of Brendan Rodgers’ debut 2016/17 season.
Another former Parkhead hero, Chris Sutton, has been in the opposite camp at BT and his hard-hitting comments have often hit the headlines.
A decision from the SPFL is likely to be announced some time this month.
