SLOVENIAN whistler Damir Skomina will be in charge of Celtic’s Champions League play-off first leg against Hapoel Be’er Sheva on Wednesday night.
The 40-year-old referee was the match official when Iceland shocked England 2-1 in the Euro 2016 Championship Final in France in June.
He was the man in the middle, too, when Wales beat Belgium to reach the semi-finals of the tournament.
Skomina, highly rated by his UEFA bosses, was in control of last season’s Champions League semi-final between Real Madrid and Manchester City and also the Villarreal v Liverpool Europa League last-four encounter.
