Really delighted at the flow of sentiment towards Billy McNeill and the launch of the new frontage of Celtic Park tomorrow. The place is beginning to look like a 21st Century venue, now we need the shops, restaurants and bars to bring the match-day experience alive.
Were you one of the fans who put £620 (or more) into Celtic shares in 1994? Around 10,000 did, raising an initial total of around £10m from small investors alone. It wasn’t an investment, none of us wanted or expected the money back, it was our contribution to Celtic at a time of critical need.
Many small investor-Rangers fans did the same when Newco went to market in December 2012, although one high-profile investor, who coughed up £500k, has asked Dave King to buy him out.
The stark reality facing these shareholders is that if King’s path is followed to a logical conclusion the club will be run into the ground, destroying their investments along with everything else. I have some sympathy for their position.
King is not interested in buying control of the club, even at the discounted price shares are now available at. He emailed the £500k investor “Why should any new investor bail out existing investors because they made mistakes in overpaying for their shares. The club needs money not complaining shareholders”.
The price paid by small investors was perhaps the most irrelevant figure to them, they paid the gross figure they could afford, irrespective of price. The value of the share was irrelevant so to accuse them of making a mistake by overpaying is like criticising the month of March for being too purple.
How the small shareholders feel about this behaviour will not determine what actions the Newco board takes, that will be come down to how easily manipulated people like the Easdales, Mike Ashley and Laxey Partners are. My information is they are not easily manipulated in the slightest.

Dear Celtic Fc,
Please keep James Forrest and sign Robert Snodgrass.
Thats all.
Think it was about this time last year that people were writing off Izzy on the basis of poor form since injury.. not the same player etc.
He just needed game time.
I’m assuming same on Matthews
For me the player with most earning potential from future sales is Lustig. Luckily his wife’s caught the Cel’ic bug so that should hold him for a whiley.
HH
Janko must be worth a look ,get him over for a couple of weeks and see how fit he is.Experienced CF with a good scoring record.

Holy crap but James Forrest divides opinion!!
I’m firmly in the SFTB camp……I think he’s in our top three most valuable players!!
Someday soon it’s all going to click for him and he’ll become a superstar!!
Bada Bing, is Janko the Finnish player NFL was watching in Germany during the week?

“SFTB, we all know that disassembly/reconstruction is an inevitability of playing in the premier division of the SPFL but if it is carried out at a rapid rate, say losing your best players at the end of every season, not only will the manager get miffed so will the support and I suspect that this may already be the case with dwindling numbers at home games. We Celtic fans still expect to have some sort of success in Europe, yes I know this is an unrealistic expectation, but selling club ‘favourites’ on a regular basis pisses off the support.”
I don’t know what constitutes a rapid rate. However, if the managers and the fans are realistic about our place (currently) in the game, there will be no reason to be miffed. It will always be your best players who will be sold, our poorer players will be let go or fetch cut-price transfer fees. We are not in a position to keep our best and lose the rest; only the elite clubs in the big leagues can play it that way. We face the same challenges as Ajax, Porto, Benfica, Feyenoord, Anderlecht etc;
Cults Bhoy
In Mackay Steven, you have picked the one winger whose inconsistency far exceeds JF. Even his last manager did not think he was yet worthy of a Scotland cap. Ryan Fraser is playing well but has contributed two goals this season and is nowhere near a Scotland place. I see no reason to see him be as capable as JF. I’d rather give Paul McMullan or a fit again Paul George a chance.
Nat Know-
3rd best or 1st equal. That depends on the transfer fees they attract. Big Vic went for £12m, Aiden for £10m and Gary Hooper for somewhere between £5m and £6m.
I believe Redknapp would outbid the purported £7m for JF and, if James has a good season, I believe his price will go up even further. It’s just guess work but I’d say his transfer fee, when he goes will be higher than FF’s and close to VVD’s.
As TBB commented, his type of injury has a fair prognosis and we should not need to expect, fingers crossed, another poorish injury season.
As for comparing different positions. They all have football transfer evaluations. Goalies do not seem to attract transfer fees in keeping with their worth so we will be luck to see much above £6m for Fraser Forster, IMO. At that price he is hardly worth selling for the money but, then again, try and keep an unhappy player and see where you end up.
So far from comparing bananas with spanners, we are just comparing good players who play different positions; in fetching transfer fees, they have more in common than they have which separates them.
Goalies are not the only fruit.

Anyone know where I could get a Google Nexus 7 screen replaced at a reasonable price. I got quoted £90, making it more worthwhile to buy a new one.?
For my birthday last year I was given the gift of a paving stone in my name to be installed on the new Celtic way.
Does anyone know if the club will be doing anything to show people that they are there?

Quality is there … Due to injuries not enough quantity .
But maybe Everton have a better Physio or a magicker sponge .
Derk bo is a quality Dutch player that our scouts reckoned worth a couple of mill … But due to injury yada yada yada

I was unable to buy shares during Fergus’s flotation, being a bit strapped for cash at the time having recently got married and with a baby appearing on the scene, but my dad did.
When he passed away last October those 1000 shares were bequeathed to me.
I will never sell them, and when I am no longer here they will pass to my daughter.

Binned the Sky Sports package yesterday…take a month to come off the subscription. Won’t renew until Celtic are in Champions League group stages (Sept this year – fingers crossed).
If you have your land-line with anyone but sky it costs you 5.1p/min with a 15p connection charge….ever wondered why the sky person loves to chat away about all sorts of crap!
To avoid paying them anymore of your hard earned cash when cancelling or downgrading your package (Oh matron!) use the following link and email them.

Hi Jeez, recovered from your thrashing at fives last night?
In relation to replacement screens for nexus 7.
Having someone do it for £90 seems quite reasonable to me.
I replaced the screen on one of my boys nexus 7, buying the replacement screen from Ebay for £70, easy enough to replace but takes a few hours and you also need to buy adhesive tape to secure the screen to the bezel.
As I said £90 sounds like a good deal when you consider the repalkcement cost of about £200 for 2nd gen nexus 7.

ACGR- Janko is Austrian captain who is leaving Red Bull Salzburg on a Bosman.HH
thebhoyfromoz – did you have to mention the 5’s again? Got it last night from the usual suspects !!

As Shady said, The Saracen Head put on the Celtic game for me on the one occasion that I required it. I did have to bribe the barmaid with copious quantities of alcohol though!!!
If you fancy some good grub, my ma has a cafe/restaurant directly opposite the cathedral; not that surprisingly it’s called The Cathedral Cafe.
Tell her I sent you.
You’ll still get charged full price but she might do it with a smile :-)
Janko on a bosman?? Must be problems with him.
Hope Sammy re-signs. If not….good luck.

I will pass on that.
when my son broke his screen, which he of course denied “somebody else did it”, he had left it lying on the floor of his bedroom and it got trodden on, I gave him the lecture about taking care of these things.
For christmas last year I got him, as requested, a nexus5 mobile phone, I also bought a protective cover for it to prevent damage.
He quickly disgarded the protective cover for whatever reason.
You could imagine my annoyance when i discovered in the middle of January that the screen was cracked after he left it lying on the floor and was stood on.
Feckin kids, they never learn and acusse you of nagging them.
I found this when I was clearing out my hard drive. To the tune of AC/DC “Whole lotta Rosie”
Wanna tell you a story
’bout a club I know
When it comes to thievin
Ooooh they steal the show
Aint exactly pretty

Ain’t no fairy story
Ain’t no skin and bones

You’re a whole lotta stealin
A whole lotta stealin
Whole lotta Rangers
Whole lotta Rangers

And you’re a whole lotta zzzombies!!!

SFTB:
A players worth is a piece of string. Media hype can stretch that sting. Remember Craig Gordon of Hearts, Jean-Alain Boumsong, and who can forget that fud Alan Hutton.
Everybody has an opinion on a players sell on value but for me, the value of the player – if you are going to sell him – (and confining it to money only) is what somebody else is prepared to pay for him.
Marc Janko, a 6’5″ striker, has played 48 league matches in 3 years, scoring 16 goals, 10 of which in the 1st half of season 2011/12 for Twente.
He has scored 6 league goals in his last 32 league games since January 2012, 2 and a half years ago. (That’s one goal every 5 MONTHS).
In the same period, the ‘injury prone’ James Forrest, who plays as a winger not a striker, has played in 60 league matches and scored 14 goals. He has 99 appearances in all competitions in this time, scoring 20 goals and assisting a further 19.
That one goal and one assist every 5 GAMES.
Some folk need to read the small print.

I also thoroughly enjoyed the Italian Huns being turfed out – as they tend to say on here – on their erchies.
U know a shrewdie who has backed Benfica at 16/1 ew for the Europa League :D
Draught Peroni on me :D
The thing is when James Forrest is good, he’s very good but the problem is how often do we see it?
He has talent but may not fulfill it.
If he played an entire season and was outstanding through and actually did something in the Champion’s league other than run into blind alleys as he has more often than not then we’d be looking at 7 million.
Right now if that figure is correct and Everton will actually pay it, take the money and run.
HT,
Thanks very much for information.I’ll definitely take your advice.
In one establishment buy lady copius amt alcohol, other one mention your name.
