Snout in trough required, Champions League frustrations

768

The frustration at the news Derk Boerrigter is injured, again, and will miss another important Champions League game, is enormous.  Derk was a big part of our summer signing strategy but he came with a caveat concerning his propensity to suffer injury.

We have seen only flashes of him since he joined from Ajax in the summer.  His opportunities to exploit his undoubted speed in SPFL games will be limited by opponents tendency to defend deep, denying him space to run into, making Champions League games all the more important to his season.

Our other pace player, James Forrest, will surely come into sharp focus for the visit of Ajax on Tuesday.

I see Alasdair Johnston is expressing concern that Our Hero is still pulling the strings at Ibrox!  I never thought of that!

Let’s see…. He is a director of Sevco 5088 Ltd, the firm which had an irrevocable right to buy the assets of liquidated Rangers, he issued a pre-action letter to exercise those rights, there was in independent ‘inquiry’ which completely failed to investigate control of Sevco 5088 Ltd, then he went quiet. Why are we always a day behind the news?

Does that mean he got bored and went away, or is he conducting his business in private?  I am sure it’s the latter but Craig Whyte is the least of Johnston’s concerns when it comes to who is able to pull strings at Ibrox.  All the action is offstage.

Speaking about what is happening offstage, whenever Rangers International’s advisers confirm how the company can appoint sufficient executives to be compliant with AIM requirements, they will need a new chief executive.

Going by recent (and not so recent) trends they will need someone with their snout constantly in the trough, with impeccable Rangers credentials, with their snout constantly in the trough, who is currently available for work, with their snout constantly in the trough, who has previously worked in the game and with their snout constantly in the trough.

If only they could find another genuine fan who would be prepared to do whatever necessary in return for a remarkable contract.  Can’t think of anyone.

Wait a minute………

Thanks to everyone who participated in Show Your Hand yesterday.

I agree with what you are saying about Scottish football fans. Most of the ones I’ve met want Celtic to get beat, not because of anything other than we are the biggest club. In England everyone wants Man U to lose but if Liverpool replaced them as the top team for a few seasons they would be the team that everyone hated.

  2. Ps a 3 game ban for Broonie???

That is a joke and should be challenged.

Mind u maybe the board has pursued it as far as they can go with the SFA/UEFA!

    Good post.

I remember once at Rugby Park years ago watching a Killie

supporting workmate hanging over the wall giving our own

NFL total pelters. Vains out the neck stuff.

From our seat in the away support it was hilarious.

    Why ?

The guy does not have a bigoted bone in his body.

He is just fanatical about his team.

Weeks later I asked what he was yelling at NFL ?

“Oh just the usual ugly, fat ginger numpty stuff”

The Killie fan is not handsome. His weight is similar.

He also has ginger hair. Just a football fan.

No hun.No bigot. The ones that are, mostly, can be found

    at you now where. HH

  4. St. John Doyle:

Good evening one and all. I went to see Linda today and took the tickets you bought for the Family to attend the Ajax game at Celtic Park on 22nd October when Fans tributes will be made. I as also took along a Mass Card provided by Cowiebhoy in the name of the Bhoys and Ghirls from CQN. George will have a Mass said for him by the St. Patrick’s Missionaries throughout the next year.

As you know we started donating to get the four tickets for the Family to sit together at the Ajax game. We also sent a lovely floral tribute, which was much appreciate, it simply said ‘CQN’.

We have continued with the donations, which I will continue to accept up to the Ajax game at Celtic Park. The monies will then be given from ‘CQN’ to the ‘Mini St. John Doyle’ Fund, set up in memory of Sean Ryan who was stillborn in 2000. It was George and Linda’s dream to buy two log cabins in Loch Lomomd for families who have suffered similar heartache to have a place to go for some respite.

As of this evening you have donated a staggering £1,413.80, phenomenal amount from George’s extended family. After we paid for the tickets and floral tribute to date £1.159.30 to give the ‘Mini St. John Doyle Fund’ from you.

I know there are donations in transit and some have said that they will give money at the Hibs and Ajax games; therefore I will continue to accept donations until then.

    lennybhoycfc@gmail.com

Linda thanked you all very much from the bottom of theirs Hearts today. I echo her thanks and what a great start to the ‘Mini St. John Doyle’ Fund that will be launched at the Regeneration awards at the Plaza Hotel on 24th October.

God Bless George Ryan, God Bless the Ryan Clan.

    Keep the Faith!

    Hail Hail!

“Despite the player’s undoubted ability Auld had a temper which he was too seldom able to contain. When faced with a hint of provocation or confrontation Bertie would bite back and he regularly found himself battling opponents and the football authorities. Celtic chairman Bob Kelly frowned on Auld’s antics and despite Bertie’s talent he decided enough was enough and the player was sold to Birmingham.”

What would our fans make of this type of player today?

  6. I hope Broonie not looking in here for a wee bit of support, some comments wouldn’t be out of place on Swallow Swallow.

Robin Bhoy-pfayr is definitely no hun mate,at least the name calling stopped for a full 24 hours after Oldtim’s wonderful post.

I suspect my Hibs team with 3 youngsters in defence will not ever be countenanced. My worry about Charlie is risking another injury before Europe. I should have put him in my Ajax team though. Who best to pair him with- Kayal or Biton if Joe is still unfit? And 4:4:2 or 4:5:1 if we do not have the personnel for the latter? Do Ajax always play 4:4:2?

He’s at it all the time. NL on record saying he has to be more streetwise gets into situations that he doesn’t need to.

Our whole CL tourney could be undone by his stupidty. Silly bhoy.

    eddieinkirkmichael,

Bertie was all that, as a lad.

However, he came back from Brum much cuter, without losing any of his “dig”.

    Scott was not cute.

At the time, I put his aberration down to physical and mental fatigue, as he had run himself into the ground , covering the entire centre mid on his own.

Ledley was badly missed that night.

  13. Good Evening Timland.

Not at all surprised that SB has received a 3 match

ban……. NFL said after the game he thought it was

a soft red, UEFA will have noted this and acted

accordingly ………it’s NFL who has to be more

    streetwise.

A wee bit dramatic, our CL tourney is being undone because we fail to score when we’re on top. Can’t really blame SB if we fail to get through HH

  15. Scott’s ban is a blow especially for such an innocuous display of ‘violent conduct.’ However that’s modern European football for you. You got to be wider; Scott wasn’t and UEFA are brilliant at this sort of punishment, we move on…

His guest is Mick Lang a German Celtic supporter from the Black Forrest.

It is a good listen and is not all in German of course and Mick’s English is better than Billy’s German, in fact Mick’s English is better than most of Billy’s Scottish guests.

Always be suspicious of initials. BT – there’s another.

    See.

  18. Anyone else noted that Gordon Waddell just cannot bring himself to say Celtic? As I was driving to the shop there for Mrs RC’s bottle of red…cough…he was waxing lyrical about our captain. It was ‘they’ this and ‘they’ that to such an extent I think he must have a bet on with someone.

If you don’t like Neil Lennon just come out with it. Forget the tortured logic. Let me explain. UEFA is a football authority, this means means that its actions are not governed by fairness, justice or truth. Somebody as streetwise as you must surely recognise that.
