Snout in trough required, Champions League frustrations

768

The frustration at the news Derk Boerrigter is injured, again, and will miss another important Champions League game, is enormous.  Derk was a big part of our summer signing strategy but he came with a caveat concerning his propensity to suffer injury.

We have seen only flashes of him since he joined from Ajax in the summer.  His opportunities to exploit his undoubted speed in SPFL games will be limited by opponents tendency to defend deep, denying him space to run into, making Champions League games all the more important to his season.

Our other pace player, James Forrest, will surely come into sharp focus for the visit of Ajax on Tuesday.

I see Alasdair Johnston is expressing concern that Our Hero is still pulling the strings at Ibrox!  I never thought of that!

Let’s see…. He is a director of Sevco 5088 Ltd, the firm which had an irrevocable right to buy the assets of liquidated Rangers, he issued a pre-action letter to exercise those rights, there was in independent ‘inquiry’ which completely failed to investigate control of Sevco 5088 Ltd, then he went quiet. Why are we always a day behind the news?

Does that mean he got bored and went away, or is he conducting his business in private?  I am sure it’s the latter but Craig Whyte is the least of Johnston’s concerns when it comes to who is able to pull strings at Ibrox.  All the action is offstage.

Speaking about what is happening offstage, whenever Rangers International’s advisers confirm how the company can appoint sufficient executives to be compliant with AIM requirements, they will need a new chief executive.

Going by recent (and not so recent) trends they will need someone with their snout constantly in the trough, with impeccable Rangers credentials, with their snout constantly in the trough, who is currently available for work, with their snout constantly in the trough, who has previously worked in the game and with their snout constantly in the trough.

If only they could find another genuine fan who would be prepared to do whatever necessary in return for a remarkable contract.  Can’t think of anyone.

Wait a minute………

Thanks to everyone who participated in Show Your Hand yesterday.

    Question for the Techies

VVhen i use twitter and i get an advert sent to me, I immediately BLOCK the sender.

Does this do me any good or will it keep coming or will twitter just send adverts from different companies.

I do use the premise that if i wanted their tweet I’d have followed the company or club already. ( see what i did there)

    thanks in advance

  9. Afternoon all.

It’s with a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat that I come on here today to express my utmost gratitude to the wonderful CQN family for the words of support on the passing of my dad yesterday.

    Thank you one and all.

A special mention must go to the one and only BMCUW – ‘day oot’ organiser extaordinaire!

I ‘phoned him last night and told him what had happened, and asked if he would post on here with the sad news. He did not disappoint. Thanks again buddy!

Auld Adriano – aka ‘Alec’ after 54 years spent in Scotland – passed away at 5:15 yesterday afternoon, the very day that my daughter flew back to Scotland after a five day visit. At least she was able to see him and spend some time with him. She will be back on Saturday with Mrs Tally to attend the funeral which is on Monday.

It will be held in the church where he was baptised 89 years ago, in a small rural community in northern Italy. The church is dedicated to San Rocco (St Roch!), and dates from the mid 1500s. He will then be interned – not buried – next to my mother in the local cemetery a short distance away.

Once again let me thank everyone for the very kind and uplifting words expressed.

    God bless you all.

If you think back to our 1-0 Champions League game against Benfica at Celtic Park a number of years ago, a Benfica player almost broke a young Scott Brown’s leg. He was handed a 6 match ban by EUFA, if I remember correctly and it was reduced to 2!games after an appeal by Benfica.

  20. So thanks to a cheating player whom Varca can only afford by running up massive debts, we lose our captain for the three most important games of the season.

Still, the unfathomable love in for Barca continues. Imagine the rage if that had been Ronaldo…

  21. The thing is, Neymar is a dive and a cheat but not in this particular instance.

Brown brought him down with a pretty “good” foul, stopping the breakaway and giving away a fairly harmless free kick. Yet Brown kicked the man when he was down.

It doesn’t matter if Neymar had dived earlier in the game, you aren’t allowed to kick folk because you don’t like them.
