SO FOOT MAG SALUTES CELTIC SUPPORT

CELTIC fans have been voted the third best in the world following a poll by well-respected French magazine ‘So Foot’.
The periodical was looking for supporters who were passionate, cheered loudly, wore their club’s colours and were continuous in their singing, among other aspects.
Hoops followers were the only ones from British football in the top ten with ‘So Foot’ believing English fans are “too quiet”.
The magazine reckoned the Parkhead version of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” is far superior to the rendition from the Liverpool fans at Anfield.
They also state “Celtic fans go red with emotion” and that a highly-charged Parkhead is “a fearful destination even for the very best teams in the world”.
Argentina’s Boca Juniors took the top spot with Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund in second place.
Then came the Scottish champions who were ahead of Morocco’s Raja Casablanca and Italy’s Napoli in the best rated five.
Turkey’s Galatasaray, Spain’s Athletic Bilbao, Red Star, of Serbia, Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds and Saint Etienne, of France, completed the top ten.
Celtic fans won the Fair Play award from European football’s governing body for their behaviour as they supported Martin O’Neill’s team all the way to the 2003 UEFA Cup Final in Seville where they lost 3-2 in extra-time to Jose Mourinho’s Porto.
