So which journos were secretly being paid by Oldco?

622

How many people working as ‘journalists’ in Scottish football were secretly on the payroll of Oldco Rangers (or Rangers International, for that matter)?  Is this common practice in newspapers, did the Daily Record know about it? Wonder how they will play the news story…

Any suggestions as to who else might’ve been on the oldco/Sevco payroll?  Any ex-Celtic players?

Most of us have spent the last season trying to value Victor Wanyama.  If he goes, it’s important we achieve as high a price as possible, not for the money itself, but Victor’s value will be reflected in the value of the rest of the squad – and it’s important we move our player trading up the food chain.

SPL football doesn’t count towards a valuation but the Champions League does, and Victor’s five group games (less so the Juventus games) are the basis of whatever figures will be offered.

Delighted Celtic are hosting a charity match in September for Stiliyan Petrov’s new charity foundation. The player has undertaken a remarkable fight over the last year or so and is an example to many.

Good questions, as always, from your good self. However this is getting tiresome. We as Celtic fans know what went on. The evidence is out there for all to see.

We all know that these questions will never be asked in public or in the media in Scotland. Why am I so sure of this? Well just ask yourself what would have happened if the same set of circumstances which resulted in the Ibrox disaster had happened at Celtic Park? Do you think if it was proven in a Scotish court, before a Sherrif that the Celtic board had suppressed reports from structural engineers stating that stairway 13 was unsafe wouldn’t be deemed news worthy?

If Jock Stein had told Archie Mcpherson prior to the disater that he believed that stairway 13 was a death trap, do you think Archie wouldn’t have made sure someone in the print media covered this angle of the story after the disaster?

These things happened, the Rangers board lost a court case brought by the family of one of the victims. Sheriff Smith in his judgement was scathing in his criticism of the Rangers board, who he accused of lying in court. The then Rangers manager had an off the record discussion with Archie Mcpherson , which Archie mentions in his autobiography, where he speaks candidly about the exits from the terracing at stairway 13 and his fears about the safety of supporters lives.

The story of Rangers, the media and the establishment is one that will never be told in public. I really wish something would change, the new media of the Internet is now the way to get the real story out there. Unfortunately history will rely on the traditional media outlets to give a false account of the big stories of the age.

Any way that we could discover the “journalists” who were being paid by thon deid club, particularly the ex-Celts? While we’re at it, any way the other recipients of the EBTs not on their payroll might be revealed?

I think Charlotte may have that information.
