So which journos were secretly being paid by Oldco?

622

How many people working as ‘journalists’ in Scottish football were secretly on the payroll of Oldco Rangers (or Rangers International, for that matter)?  Is this common practice in newspapers, did the Daily Record know about it? Wonder how they will play the news story…

Any suggestions as to who else might’ve been on the oldco/Sevco payroll?  Any ex-Celtic players?

Most of us have spent the last season trying to value Victor Wanyama.  If he goes, it’s important we achieve as high a price as possible, not for the money itself, but Victor’s value will be reflected in the value of the rest of the squad – and it’s important we move our player trading up the food chain.

SPL football doesn’t count towards a valuation but the Champions League does, and Victor’s five group games (less so the Juventus games) are the basis of whatever figures will be offered.

Delighted Celtic are hosting a charity match in September for Stiliyan Petrov’s new charity foundation. The player has undertaken a remarkable fight over the last year or so and is an example to many.

Well he is a bit of a clown!

Half time might be awkward as it has just been announced that Gus Poyet has been sacked by Brighton — so he might not be in too good a mood!

Seemingly some people attending a Christening in St Patricks Coatbridge 3 weeks ago were very disrespectful to the service and the surroundings of the chapel. Father Sweeney was really upset with conduct of some of them he took time to mention it in the bulletin.

That is two good crosses, one for a header, and one low across the six yard position from Big Effie, should have had a goal there

Paul McGinley was at the Donegal v Down match today — apparently he is a big pal of Jim McGuinness.

  11. Since the whole EBT thing became public knowledge, there has always been the suspicion that people who were not players or officials of the club could have benefitted as well.

There strange cases of Souness (at Blackburn) and Smith (whilst Everton boss) really ought to have raised more eyebrows than they did. But the possibility that journalists were actually in the pay of RFC (now IL), is total dynamite.

Sadly, however, who would be surprised?

Some of the fawning, sycphantic, unquestioning press received by RFC during the Murray pomp (and then during the “downfall”) contrasts so incredibly sharply with what Fergus McCann and successive Celtic bosses and layers have had to put up with, that it is not unreasonable to ask whether money may have changed hands at some point…

The irony, of course, is that an investigative, curious, questioning press would have probably unearthed enough material to make them act in time to save their club.

    Shame.

Bbc hosts tells poyet he has officially been sacked during the program

Sure that will go down well in court. . But maybe Brighton have a sevco type deal with courts and media

  17. Brogan Rogan Trevino and Hogan supports Kano 1000 on

Footballers and football managers are very well paid and I am sure that Gus Poyet is not short of a bob or two.

However, for Brighton to effectively sack the man without speaking to him is a total disgrace. Any employee deserves the dignity and respect of personal contact no matter what the circumstances.

To just stick out a statement on the web is disgraceful.

Having said that, I also think it is disgraceful of the BBC to raise the issue live on air when the guy must obviously be feeling more than a little uncomfortable. I am sure that they will have asked Poyet if he is comfortable talking about his situation, but even so the man is there to summarise on the game that we are all watching — not talk about his dismissal which he has had less than half an hour to digest and come to terms with.

Is a little decency and courtesy just too much to ask from folk these days?

God knows we all make mistakes in life but dear lord God almighty — doing the decent thing here costs nothing!
