Soap opera instalment, Throwing under the bus episode

505

The Celtic soap opera season continued through the weekend.  We were taken to the school of St Mirren on Saturday, then watched incredulously as a central defender we knew little about but who Sky incorrectly reported had signed a pre-contract, was instead heading for Liverpool.

Vasilis Barkas was dropped after the 2-2 draw with Livingston, he would be forgiven for being grateful as Scott Bain was given the unenviable burden of coping with a level of defending unseen at Celtic in decades.  For the good of the player as well as the team, Neil Lennon has to accept Shane Duffy does not have what it takes at this level.  A midweek pantomime against Hamilton went unpunished, while St Mirren fully exploited his meanderings.

In early December, I was assured Neil Lennon had the full support of the dressing room.  Speaking in the heat after Saturday’s defeat, he questioned the players’ attitude and behaviour.  There was no containment of the problem, no deflection of pressure off the squad and onto his more capable shoulders.  Whatever goodwill exists must be under strain.

It must be difficult to find the words for so many post-match failures but throwing players under the bus is not the received wisdom.  You and I are left to ponder what direction our season will plunge towards next.

Deadline Day in the ‘January’ transfer window leaves us with little to get excited about.  We can hope for a central defender to fill the gap left by Christopher Jullien and a right back to allow Kristofer Ajer to move back into the middle.  We cannot, though, buy confidence.

Of course there is no plan b.

The same as there was no plan put in place in October, if results didn’t improve.

The whole club is a shambles

  2. I havent seen or heard Neil Lennons Presser Today…maybe I dont want to, going by what Ive read on here Today.

In recent moths I have tried to show the Man some Respect, although I was also a bit downbeat when he got the job Full Time. I was in my local Pub that day and in very good spirits, but even then I wondered if it was wrong for Celtic to give him the job full time ?

My doubts about him have sadly materialised.

Reading Mr Lawwells ” Bonus’s”, especially in recent times is also mind numbing…it is just so obscene considering the state of Celtic FC on and off the pitch.

Thats NOT forgetting PL’s part in Res. 12…and the 5 way agreement that he claims he never saw ?

Someone ” Representing” Celtic MUST have put their signature on that 5 way agreement…WHO was it ?

If it wasnt Mr Lawwell, it beggars belief that he would have allowed ” A.N.OTHER” to sign that agreement, IF he (PL) had NEVER been given the opportunity to read and consider it himself, with Mr Desmond also involved….?

The anger inside of me is growing as I type, so I am ” AFF OOT” as someone used to say.

ANY thoughts that I have/had of joining the Celtic Trust and also trying to see The Bhoys on Match Days in the flesh are quickly disintegrating.

    HH.

  3. The damage was done pre season – too much complaining about covid, no fans and players mentality – ALL LENNON negative. The he complained about players not wanting to be there to live out a dream they were not motivated for – ALARM BELLS and should have been punted or benched.

This is where we lost the 10.

Thereafter it was out of control from injuries, covid , internationals and awful coaching.

NOW? caught between a rock and a hard on ! keep money for rebuild or try and secure 2nd place for champs league – this is absolutely at risk!

Lawell last minute gambling on critical positions within the team has driven me mad for years – he never understood the difference between potential and players that could elevate the side.

All done now – priority is 2nd place and starting the rebuild at a time when we’ve fed Rangers the millions they wouldn’t have survived without.

  4. I don’t have an issue with Neil Lennon sticking to his position. He signed a 1-year rolling contract thereby forfeiting the cushion of a long contract which most football managers have, Why should he now resign? The reason Celtic PLC introduced this type of manager contract was to avoid huge pay-offs when things don’t work out. Celtic PLC now need to honor that 1 year contract and pay Neil what he is owed. To tread water until Summer would be gross incompetence. If the person they want in is not available, hand it over to Kennedy and Brown – they will steady the ship until the new guy arrives.

  5. My Covid Vaccine is to take place this Saturday at 4.30pm at The SEC Centre and travelling by Taxis etc.

BUT…Because of the time of my appointment my first thought was ” OH NO…I will miss the 2nd half of Celtic V Motherwell”….on 2nd thoughts it was….” Maybe its for the best that I will MISS the 2nd half of that Celtic game” ?

Its a very sad day, when I am not too bothered about missing a part of a Celtic game….it could be worse I suppose…we could have been playing The JAGS ?

    LOL.

    I need a right good BEVVY !

    HH.

careful now….the CQN comment police are taking notes…

Losing Davies might be considered a blow but surely teams have a list of players and targets they work down? Isn’t there a plan B?

Plan B is keeping doing Plan A badly.

  9. I know there isn’t traditionally loads of business to be done in January but it is still a window and should’ve been used by our new manager to clear out a couple, bring in one or two that can hit the ground running next season and work on systems…..

Right now, a hell of a lot would have to change to make me think that Sevco aren’t odds-on for next season.

  10. I know as supporters we have a different mind set But.

If you were a player that Lenny is talking about wanting away ,or one that he seems to pick on ,would you give 100% on the plastic pitch at Kilmarnock.

May be another miserable night ahead .

  11. We also have to accept the uncomfortable truth that even if we had not imploded this season and been as good as last season. It would be unlikely that we would have won the league.

Our nearest rivals have been so much better in all departments.

Indeed it would have taken a Brendan Rodgers fully firing team to have put them in their place…which of course they would have easily.

I assume thats a joke geebee? Celtic and a plan? oxymoron of the year award

  13. Go tell the Spartim on

Are we as good as we could be, that should be our starting point every day, whether you are interested in the football team or interested in the financials, each to their own, we all need a hobby and relief especially in these trying times, globally and in all things Celtica

Personally, I think we’re far far away from where we could be.

  14. there are a few central defenders in the SPL who are MUCH quicker and dominant than Duffy – if celtic has no plan B , surely the clubs would welcome the money offered by celtic!

  15. That press conference was embarrassing.

He does not look interested in fact he looks total disinterested and he looks as if he is on medication.

    Shocking way to treat fans.

    D :)

  16. I’m probably 95% sure that I won’t renew this year unless a big plan turns up catching us all out.

Like a combo of the tooth fairy and the Easter bunny.

However if Shane Duffy starts our next game I’m totally done, because then I would have to assume that Neil has completely lost it or is deliberately noising us up, either way it would be confirmation for me that the management no longer GAF.

Davies wasn’t waiting on Liverpool or any other top club to come in for him. He is not that good. That it happened is just down to pure luck for the lad. Liverpool are scrambling for defensive cover. They are also getting in a guy from Schalke who is valued at 20 million. He’ll be in the team ahead of Davies.

*the last paragraph makes me think that sleazy slippy has a hand in the lad moving tae Melwood tae lay out the cones.

BTW convinced that Lenny reads CQN as he mentioned us being gazumped by klippety, I wrote the same last night on here.

I awoke through the night, as normal, and a wee thought went through my mind and its concerning Lenny talking about preparing for next season and bringing back our current loanees.

He’s either extracting the urine or else he’s, God forbid, the new DoF.

  20. They finish both games with 11 men, no punishment at all as they will start the next with 11, also Goldson shoved the guy in the back a penalty and a straight red card, dont ever think justice is being done, they are rippin the piss even though Celtic are presently weak they want to rub it in more.

  21. Neil Lennon says he has no plans to follow chief executive Peter Lawwell in leaving Celtic this summer.

“Why would it be my intention to go?” Lennon said.

“Peter’s decision has got nothing to do with my position at all, or my coaches or any of the players. So I don’t understand the context of the question at all.”

What planet does he live on? I feel a letter coming on. Withholding season ticket monies the only leverage we have left on this board.

  22. If Duffy is on the pitch tomorrow night.

2 security men should escort Lennon off the premises in a straight jacket

  23. Timmy 7- a lot of loans have a must play clause,or else you pay a lot to the parent club, that’s the only reasonable excuse I can give for Duffy playing another game for us.

  24. St Tams

Mental health is not a subject to be joked about – no need for the reference to straight jacket

  25. Gene- the only referee punished in any way ,in the last few years, was Collum for going against the Establishment.

  26. BT

Neil isn’t going to resign so his approach seems to be to tough it out and needs to come across as confident and planning for the future. He’s certainly not hiding away as if it’s only a matter of time.

We need him to be sacked.

  27. Liam Hughes youth goalkeeper away to Liverpool, Harper to NY Red Bulls, add them to the 2 boys who went to Bayern, and all the other youngsters who want out of the place, serious questions need answering on Lennoxtown.

  28. BT- I stopped watching the pressers weeks ago, absolute bull,he’s delusional, and not watching the same games we are.
