Solskjaer back with old flame after over-shooting with looker

417

It’s been a fascinating day for Molde, who re-appointed former manager old Gunnar Solskjaer on a three year contract. The timing of this one is incredible, coming a few days after an international break, which would provide the perfect opportunity for the club to make changes and prepare for the challenges ahead.

After winning the league in 2014, their third Norwegian title in four years, Molde sit 7th with three games remaining. Recent form hasn’t been too bad. They have won each of their last two league games, scoring seven goals, and sit top of their Europa League group after drawing with Ajax. Interim boss, Erling Moe, had steadied the ship. You could argue he exceeded expectations.

Solskjaer won the first two of those titles, but his reputation faded in 2013, when an unknown young Stromdgodset coach stopped him winning three-in-a-row in 2013. He joined Cardiff City in January 2014 but could do nothing to arrest their slip into relegation and was sacked a month into their aimless Championship campaign.

He’s been carrying out various media and youth coaching roles since, waiting on the right job to come along. Molde have been looking for a permanent manager since parting company with Tor Ole Skullerud at the beginning of August. Solskjaer was reportedly their prime target back then but it looks like he’s held off until now, perhaps hoping for a gig in the well-heeled English game.

Apologies for the metaphor, but he dumped his girlfriend for a looker he knew from his student days, but who was way out of his league, so he soon found himself on the shelf. After spending months looking around he’s gone back to his old flame, who had let herself go but has got her act together in recent weeks.

I’m sure they’ll be very happy together. This is your time, Ronny. Beat them.

  1. JFor those of you who rely exclusively on CQN for your football information,……from the traditional media it would appear that one of the greats,Johan Cruyff has been diagnosed with lung cancer

Just heard on the news that Johan Cruyff has been diagnosed with lung cancer. Hope he beats this bastard disease. A true great of the game.

In the interest of fairness I will say Mark Warburton is doing a good job over at Ibrokes but when I see him interviewed on TV which is a lot for a lower league manager he looks every inch a hun. However,I have no doubts if he continues with The Rangers as he has started there will be teams down south looking at him as a future manager and I am sure if he gets the right offer he will be off like a shot from a gun and that will be another kick in the backside for ra peeple.H.H.

  4. Sorry to hear about Cruyff.

I’m pretty sure he was a smoker.

I stopped smoking in 1982. or as my wife reminds me, 4 stone ago.

  7. Deary me.A mistimed tackle on a Hun loanee and TSMSM IS all a tizzy.Cries foe referees to protect the “Ball players”from all sides.Managers forced to offer apologies for inane comments.Videos of the “Shocking abuse”dished out to Mr Oduwa.A meeting of the great minds of the Records hacks to discuss this problem.

I wonder if this grave problem could be the result of the said Mr Oduwa,a full time player from one of the top English sides, coming to play for Sevco in one of the lower leagues, against part time players, who have just completed an 8 hour shift,a couple of hours before taking the field against him.The said Mr Oduwa having not helped his case any by trying previously to humiliate these part timers with a display of tanner baw party tricks, much to the guffawing delight of TSMSM,and Sevco hordes.

The tackle being so “Horrendous”and life threatening, that Mr Oduwa played on for another 43 minutes,in spite of recieving further injuries to his legs, upper and lower, his body, his arms, even, gasp, his nose.

Lee Mc Culloch was too disgusted to comment on the thuggery.

  8. Can he play left back?

    Welcome Carlton

Joe,I fail to see the reasoning in your statement that Warburton is doing a good job over at Ibrox.

Its all SMSM guff.3/4 of the league are part timers.I can honestly say,I think any SPL team would be in the same position as Sevco are in now,top of the league. His one big test,St Johnstone, gubbed.

You are correct in the fact, that the more guff they spout about Warbs, how wonderful a manager he is,then there is a chance some struggling English outfit might think,”Why not”.He would be off like a shot.

If they can’t find the money for next weeks wage bill he may be off anyway :)

  11. I saw the tackle on the Sevco loan player but the tackles by McDonald and Pearson were every bit as bad and committed by former Celtic players on current Celtic players, surely a great story there..no outcry from the media..not mentioned at all along with Muirs disregard for the rules of the game.

  12. Welcome Carlton.Could this be the change that a lot have been crying out for?.Carlton and LG up front together.Cant see the reason for his signing if not.No matter what some Celtic fans have been saying,he was a good player in the EPL.At 32,and kept himself fit,he could do a great job in the SPL.

Wont do us a bit of harm.

  13. Sad news re Johan Cruyff . A fabulous player .

One more -I really should stop smoking from me. ( 50 plus years of stupidity ) .

My addled ole bonce works in mysterious ways . i can never see a mention of Johann Cruyff without remembering that had a Ref not made an absurd Offside ruling in a World Qualifying game , Holland would not have qualified for the 74 World Cup Finals . A scandalous decision , Belgium were robbed.

Sad news about the great Johan Cruyff; added to the recent diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease in Gerd Muller it is a jolt to be reminded of the frailty of the heroes of our summers.

  15. Welcome to Celtic Carlton,

He gets a pasting down here, but there’s definitely a player in there somewhere, we need 3 strikers in the squad – looking forward to seeing how he does…..

  19. South of Tunis,

my mate down here has similar emotions towards him! Still, he is responsible for one of the most priceless quotes after being released by West Ham:

“It means a lot to me to have been at West Ham for so long,”

“I wouldn’t like to use the word hero, but I have played my part.”

  20. Dbia,
