Soon you’ll read Crystal Palace earn more than Inter

The biggest story in the Deloitte money league table, out this morning, is that of Milan and Inter, 14th and 19th place respectively. Inter are stuck between Everton (pining for a new stadium to remove the biggest inhibitor on revenue) and West Ham (soon moving to a new stadium).

Juventus are 10th and Roma 16th but that’s it for Italian clubs, who were able to attract the top talent from Law to Ronaldo and all generations in between. The fabled ‘lure of the lira’ wasn’t replaced by the lure of Italian stocked euros. Football in Italy is still a huge business, but the TV market is not as generous as the deal in the confederated league in England and Wales.

It’s not so long since Celtic regularly featured in Deloitte’s report but our TV revenues have stagnated while those elsewhere have grown considerably. We’ve recognised our place in the food chain, but next to slip off the list when the new English TV deal kicks in will be the big Milanese clubs. Good.

Celtic were first to suffer the consequences of the TV and football markets cartels. There’s little we can do about it alone, we need big clubs in big countries to also be unhappy at being pushed out of the tent.

We’ll soon read that Crystal Palace earn more money than Inter Milan. Experience suggests that football clubs, once disenfranchised in this manner, become advocates for change. Even those near the top, like Karl-Heinz Rummenigge’s Bayern Munich, are talking about a European league, as their domestic TV deal is holding them back.

    If memory serves…. Carfin Shamrock were the first team to draw with Celtic and another Lanarkshire team, Mossend Swift, were the first to beat then, around a week later.

    Tonight a poster(I don’t know him), put up a, IMO, perfectly reasonable suggestion to give our share the gate money to EK. A gesture I fully support.

     

     

    Neganon takes that as a cue to attack the board etc as is his want.

     

    However in doing so he impugned my intellect, never having met me.

     

    Now were it, some the folks that know me, DBBIA, TBB, SFTB,BSR, GOLDSTAR etc, that commented on my lack of intelligence then I would accept it as they would be doing based on evidence based, sound judgement.

     

    People like yer man and others, on both sides, with entrenched and vitriolic views, are of no service to this blog. They are soulless, agenda driven antagonists who detract from the joy of being a Celtic supporter and sharing that joy on CQN.

    The personal abuse on here is growing and the blog suffers. There is no need for the my way or the highway attitude.

     

    I admire your obvious affection for Celtic.

     

    Neganon may not have posted his delight over Tuesday’s performance but unfortunately (imho) his posts although mainly negative ,are certainly relevant.

     

    Res 12 ? The offensive behaviour act ? The SFA ?

     

    Being civilised and respectful shouldn’t be hard.

     

    If that’s to difficult I suggest you adopt Canamlar’s advice . Or take some deep breaths..

    I agree, but there is a difference, Na2 is what he is, he attacks the club, always has done, he attacks the country, tho this a newer thing, as I said the indy ref made him a different poster, in saying that, he has some good points re the indy thing, just my take, but as I haven’t lived there for 20 odd years my take will be somewhat different had I still be there, but my weans live there, so they help me out, they are well away from the bigotry mind you.

     

    I digress, we are all entitled to our opinion, be it bollix or not, we are entitled to express it without getting attacked for it, if I say something that is total rubbish, I would appreciate being told it’s rubbish, and told where I am talking pish, instead of the attacks that are now happening on the blog, we have had posters telling us tonight they will attack the posters if they slag the club in any way, no reason, just attack, that is bollix.

     

    I ahve tried to stick to the rules since I started posting here, I have had a wee mishap now and again, but in the main I have stuck to the rules, it seems our resident troll can do and say as he pleases, with the blessing of our host, as I said earlier, it’s been a gas.

    Back in the day this place was the go to site for Celtic NEWS. Posters who used to populate this place were in the know. Ayrtic, viewfaethewindae and many others. If you felt down or low you could come on here for information, debate and a good laugh. Now……when I come on…..and I’m sure I speak for others….it DEPRESSES you. I often lurk…and if I think the mood needs lightened….I post crap…..just to boost things up……now……its just depressing….its a bloody shame…….but I can understand why decent posters are leaving……they come on and leave angry….its just not worth it……bin the arseholes

    I am sure this blog was started by Paul 67 to foster all things Celtic.At this moment in time,it is anything but.It seems now to be a vehicle for every malcontent,Board hater,whipping boy of the month hater,anti SNP posters,referee haters,justly or not,and the remaining,divided by fans who genuinely love going to see Th e Hoops,and others,who just want to moan about win,lose,or draw.

     

    The previous there being,it seems,in the minority.

    The only time I slag on here is when the club gets slagged, and they are not here to defend themselves, bottom line it’s a Celtic blog and your slagging Celtic, weelllll! It’s not rocket science is it ffs? I’m in my clubs corner of course.
