The biggest story in the Deloitte money league table, out this morning, is that of Milan and Inter, 14th and 19th place respectively. Inter are stuck between Everton (pining for a new stadium to remove the biggest inhibitor on revenue) and West Ham (soon moving to a new stadium).
Juventus are 10th and Roma 16th but that’s it for Italian clubs, who were able to attract the top talent from Law to Ronaldo and all generations in between. The fabled ‘lure of the lira’ wasn’t replaced by the lure of Italian stocked euros. Football in Italy is still a huge business, but the TV market is not as generous as the deal in the confederated league in England and Wales.
It’s not so long since Celtic regularly featured in Deloitte’s report but our TV revenues have stagnated while those elsewhere have grown considerably. We’ve recognised our place in the food chain, but next to slip off the list when the new English TV deal kicks in will be the big Milanese clubs. Good.
Celtic were first to suffer the consequences of the TV and football markets cartels. There’s little we can do about it alone, we need big clubs in big countries to also be unhappy at being pushed out of the tent.
We’ll soon read that Crystal Palace earn more money than Inter Milan. Experience suggests that football clubs, once disenfranchised in this manner, become advocates for change. Even those near the top, like Karl-Heinz Rummenigge’s Bayern Munich, are talking about a European league, as their domestic TV deal is holding them back.
Magners Ticket Competition
Fancy two Premium Seats in the Jock Stein Stand for Saturday’s game against St Johnstone, courtesy of Magners? You can win by answering this question, which will hopefully bring back some memories:
We said “Cheerio to 10-in-a-row” on 9 Mary 1998, but just before halftime that day, a St Johnstone player went within inches of equalising with a header. Who was that player?
Send his surname in the subject line of an email to celticquicknews@gmail.com to enter.
And while you are at it, why don’t you put a £1 into our Mary’s Meals school kitchen appeal here…

Serenity reigns on the ham n egg shift.

Their mission is to bring hope to the unenlightened.
Well it’s more to preserve their shrinking readership.
And their sinecures.
Good morning friends and a Big Happy Friday from a drizzly and very blustery East Kilbride (FC).
Just one more sleep till we get to see The Champions play.
Man…. well…. (as Basil Fawlty of the towers would say :-))
MiT – BT – SoT from way down south… along with many others
Come back please. Your contributions will be and are missed by too many.
I was going to post last night but decided to sleep on it…
Crazy infighting between Celtic Supporters on this blog and not pleasant to read at times yet nothing (except a red from the host) will stop me coming on here… I have zero trouble scrolling on by the tedious posts.
I will also never block anyone or flounce. Even posters who I disagree with often give me an alternative view to dwell on and for every rocket post there is a gem of a post.
I’ve spent several hours over the past few days just reading and catching up with the last 2 blogs…. too much time in fact.
Most of the time when I post, I’m not looking for a reply per se… as I can often go days without catching up so therefore may miss it.
I always read the leader and most of the other stories now on football matters etc
In fact my daily routine is
CQN
TheClumpany
Phil
To see what the gossip is
Shame to see so many letting the posts of others get to them. The CQN community is strong however and I for one am glad to be a part of it.
Oh… on that note…
GOLFERS
How’s about getting the old society up and running again? I had some cracking days out in the company of great people and it was brilliant to put so many faces to blog names..
Anyone interested can send a mail to my username at gmail.com
Travellerbhoy – good to see your post. I hope you are well
GRAND67 – congratulations on the welcome addition to your family and the greater worldwide Celtic family.

Good morning Jobo….
Hail Hail :-)
The man in green and white comfortably wins the third set 6-1
Now he’s playing like Celtic.
Jobo Baldie,
If we get 5 goals in the 1st half, I will be a very happy Dude.
Ronny Deila is the Man, just went up against Selfish players, not rocket science.
Over 3 first half goals will be a lucrative Bet now, IMO.
Respect the Celtic Board for not pulling the trigger.

LILYS GRANDPA
Also grand news,Granda!
HH,and enjoy the weekend when you finish.
Mick, why do you need to know everything?
Your Mind is incredible.
It freaks me out you know everything about everyone, it is easy to reference when emailing.
Why don’t you Shout that Jesus Died to take away the Sins of the World?
The awesome thing is………
Goooood Morning from a calm looking Black Sea.
Wasted an hour there reading back -)))
GRAND67 – welcome and congrats.
Travellerbhoy (me with a ‘ler’!) glad Chihuahua (?) was OK last night. Pets are like kids to most people that have them.
A lot of positive messages amongst the sneering ones – be glad when the positive ones (and for me that has to include any constructive criticism of team/board etc or alternative opinion) start to stifle the petty-pointless ones that seem to put so many people off.
BMCUW – the dogs all slept well thanks and whether anyone currently absent from the blog decides to come back or not is absolutely up to them. We agree I think that it would be a gokd thing if they did though.

PETEC
It’s hardly a ‘need to know everything’,bud.
Simply picking up on a comment last night, and since GRAND67 mentioned ESTADIO,who better to wet his new grandchild’s head than some smashing CQNers?
Hope yer fine and dandy yourself,Pete.
TRAVELBHOY
Absolutely agree with that point, but no harm in a simple request!
Anyway,it’s nearing that time that my first Guinness of the day-first since Tuesday,ffs!-comes running to Daddy.
Sods have put it back up to £2.09,but I ain’t bitter…

If you read ” bears bite bangers ” (oops was that a wee error ) you will see that they think all the smsm are against them.
So their efforts are futile imho .. anyhow the mainstream media in this country is almost as dead as rangers. … we see every goal from every game on the Internet and most in real time. We see what’s going on both on and off the park either through our own eyes or others that we trust .
Their spin is wasted on many of us and as time passes almost every football fan will be able to make their own mind up without any influence from the cabal
BOBBY MURDOCH’S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS,
Where are the Lads that stood with MOI?
Be honest about the Liar?
Grand67,
Congratulations on the arrival of Ellie
Remember the days when the Celtic View ran stories about great players around Europe who ‘loved Celtic’ because we had no actual good news and no prospect of signing anyone close to their standard? Puff pieces to make us,feel better in dark times?
Well check out the Daily Record this morning for a national newspapers version of this on behalf of sevco!! The best rangers January window signing 11!!!!
Oh level 5, how your expensive damaging press releases make me laugh in the mornings.
I’m sure big Jim doesn’t take himself too seriously. Could you imagine if he was for real about this????
Damagingly expensive I mean…
And now to a days graft…..

LOVE LOVE LOVE …….. important.
Quick post before I head out.
Many of you will have received a mail from me in the last 12 hours or so-some more than once due to numptiness!
I’ve had a fair few replies already, and I promise a response to each over the weekend. It’s gratifying that so many agree with the point of my mail, but saddening that some are steadfast in their intentions.
I understand their reasons,of course,and respect them.
If anyone lurking hasn’t received the mail and would like it,mail me please at

Oh and Barry Ferguson reckons EK could do us in the cup.
That’ll make them feel better this morning.
In real news Celtic have signed a £2 million defender and Hibs have landed a talented player with a good goalscoring record, EPL, SPL and CL experience.
Oh and sevco have signed pre contracts with two unknown Accrington Stanley players and insulted two other senior clubs by making derisory, and some cynics might say half hearted and not really sincere, offers for their players. They have no players on or anywhere close to the verge of playing for their national teams and the club is in courts of various types on an almost weekly basis.
But still, good to see that they are returning to normality and an even keel and all that……
Good grief
Glasgow Celtic is of Paramount Importance.
Petec,
I don’t get it,
Communism is an economic philosophy like Christianity is a religous philosophy, there have been many many people who claimed to be Christians who have slaughtered millions in the name of the Christ does that make Christianity the most evil religon ?
God Bless Every Celt.

Good to see you back posting too… and good posts at that. Can you copy and paste as I won’t give them the hit.
On that note it’s my opinion that all good sites… Phil. . The clump any etc should have the links posted so they get the hits
Any gumph from msm should be copy and paste (text only) so they don’t get the hits!!
I like that style :-)
Jobo – I’ll get that mail later… on my phone it’s work email and personal on iPad. .. can’t figure out how to get others without importing contacts etc so leave me other email aliases to the good ole fashioned laptop!!
Hail Hail and
Mon the Hoops :-)

Great news about wee Archie, long may it continue.
I hope Olivia and the rest of yer guid family are keeping well.
You as well too.
My religious family always keep the likes of, folk on here and elsewhere in their prayers coz I tell them about what’s going on…..me ?….I’ve been trying to connect since, the loss of my wife’s mum who was a shining example for me to follow…thing is, my family are religious whilst I’ve never moved in circles with the types of folk who pray…I’ve always been a lone-wolf-strange-type who’s religious beliefs were to be found in the Jungle at Celtic Park and, wherever we played away from home….Celtic was my religion…now their just a silhouette…so sad.
Philbhoys family and, any other CQNers in need of prayers, will be prayed for by my religious family….I’m still trying to connect……
Wee Ellie….I don’t know who you are but, ye sound to be a guid yin….bless.
Is Michael O’Hallaron any better than, John Sutton ?
….I’ll have to go away to get fixed….please don’t put the boot into the post because of, who the poster is….that’s cliquey-hunnish
The Pravda-Filter-Clique….dear, dear….
…away to get fixed….goodbye CQN.
Grand67,
