‘SORRY, BRENDAN, I WANT YOUR TITLE’

JON FLANAGAN has warned his Liverpool mentor Brendan Rodgers: “We are coming for your title.”

Sevco Rangers’ new defender, who was released by the Anfield side at the end of last season, enjoyed his best run in the Merseyside team during the Celtic manager’s reign in 2013/14.

Flanagan, who agreed a two-year deal at Ibrox, deserves a second chance, according to assistant gaffer Gary McAllister. Steven Gerrard’s No.2 insisted the 25-year-old should be allowed to rebuild his career after off-the-field issues.

The full-back was given a 12-month community order for assaulting his girlfriend earlier this year, but now feels he is ready to get back on track and threaten the dominance of Rodgers and the Hoops who are aiming for a remarkable treble treble.

He said: “The Scottish league is massive and one that we are going to try to push on and get the title.

“It’s a fresh start. It’s a platform for me to build on. The past is the past. It’s now time for a fresh start and I can’t wait to get going.

“It’s very exciting for the club now. There is a new manager who has freshened things up and brought a lot of players in so it’s brilliant to be a Rangers supporter now and a player.”

Bruno Alves produced similar mouth music last summer when he joined up with fellow-Portuguese Pedro Caixinha in Govan.

Whatever happened to them,?
