SOS FOR EX-CELTIC FANS’ FAVOURITE

FORMER Celtic fans’ favourite Fraser Forster is on the brink of answering an SOS from Burnley.

The 30-year-old keeper has slipped to third in the pecking order at Southampton following the £13.5million arrival of Manchester City’s Angus Gunn and the emergence of Alex McCarthy, who has just penned a three-year extension.

Turf Moor boss Sean Dyche has lost No.1 Nicky Pope after he sustained a dislocated shoulder in last week’s 1-1 Europa League qualifier against Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Stand-in Tom Heaton has a calf injury and third choice Anders Lindegaard, who replaced Pope against the Dons, has a thigh strain.

Youngster Adam Legzdins had to be called in to play against Marseille in the weekend friendly.

Now Forster, who quit the Hoops in a £10million deal in August 2014, still has four years of his lucrative contract to run and gaffer Mark Hughes will allow him to move on loan or a permanent deal.
