Souness EBT from Rangers 10 years after leaving

70

The BBC this evening released news of Rangers Employee Benefit Trusts. Sir David Murray tops the list having received £6.3m from EBTs. SFA president, Campbell Ogilvie received £95k, former manager, Alex McLeish received £1.7m, Dick Advocaat received £1.5m, former chief exec, Martin Bain, received £250k and Paul Le Guen received £200k.

Former player and manager, John Greig received £40k and ex-director, John McClelland received £225k. Dozens of players also received payment through EBTs but the most alarming information is that former manager, Graeme Souness, received £30k through an EBT in 2001, 10 years after leaving the club in 1991.

This comes after it was reported that Pope Benedict has developed an insatiable habit for collecting numerous breeds of cat. Apparently he is a CATAHOLIC.

    I’ll leave now!

  7. Ten years later Mr Souness was managing the English side Blackburn Rovers, and, just five weeks after requesting a payment from the trust, he completed the signing of Turkey international midfielder Tugay Kerimoglu from Rangers.

The BBC has seen files which showed that HMRC suspected Mr Souness’s payment could have been illegal in relation to the transfer of Tugay, but it found no additional documentation to verify it.

Mr Souness declined to respond to BBC Scotland’s allegations.

Is Mark Daly gettin’ police protection? We all know the wrath of them pesky little loyalist types. Y’know the type…..don’t do anything REALLY all that bad…well, according to Glasgow’s finest & the Scotia judicial system.

  12. I’m sure wee Chico said Campbell didn’t benefit from EBT’s or if he did it was peanuts-£95k! Chic must be a billionnaire.

No wonder Souness speaks highly of them.

  13. The Honest Cover-up on

That table on BBC is dynamite.

Billy Dodds, a shame he isn’t on Sportsound tonight.

Neil McCann, interestingly went very quiet when asked about dual contracts/EBTs during his time.

My favourite has to be Nacho Novo. £1.2m! Instead of having club crests inked onto his leg or doing “sponsored walks” maybe he should help his club by paying that £1.2m back.

It was just a loan afterall, right?

  14. £30,000 for beast,the greedy bass,multi millionaire
