Souness: loan was for work, makes interesting dates claim

Graeme Souness today told a Daily Record reporter that he received his EBT LOAN from Rangers because:

“I was doing work for Rangers.

“I was in between jobs. I was going to scout for Glasgow Rangers at that time”.

Payment in return for “doing work” is what this whole business is all about. Payment for “doing work” is taxable. It cannot be remunerated via a non-repayable loan.

Mr Souness was manager of Blackburn Rovers from 14 March 2000 until 6 September 2004.

As Blackburn manager, he signed Tugay from Rangers on 17 May 2001. He requested £30,000 from the Rangers EBT scheme five weeks later.

“In between jobs” Really? These dates make that an interesting claim.

Did big Lou fae Andytown tell you of his first trip back home for the Cliftonville game. How he survived? Big man up there was blessing him and Edith that night. :)

Frantic, despite everything you have gone through, your sense of humour still shines brightly.

Can’t believe its nearly a year since we bumped into each other at th showing of Paul Larkin’s Asterik Years in the Kerrydale Street.

Hopefully if we win our next three home games it will help your recovery.

Delaney’s, its a cracking photo. Danny and Paul getting photographed in front of the Cliftonville club crest.

Delaney’s, my two pals travelled by train and ferry to Belfast for that game.

They were on the same train as Lou from Larne to Belfast . They said he was very quiet as he wasexpecting some trouble when they got off the train as some guys on the train going over to the game were a bit loud and he knew the RUC would be at the station waiting for the bhoys coming into town.

  4. Just had the chance to see the souness interview for the first time.

Fascinating to observe the tone, reactions and exact wording.

For what it’s worth I saw no rabbit and no headlights. His questions conveyed at least as much as his answers.

Imagine jelly n ice cream before the weekend.

Too much to think that that might come to pass?

En route to Malaga this evening flew over Paradise (CP version before anyone starts …) then Hampden and no turf yet!

Serious question: how or what the hell do they think about when planning this?

If it needed changed, then surely it would be better to have it done weeks before the Petrifact hingy (sic)?

Surel, it takes weeks, if not months, for new turf to settle and knit properly to handle the stresses and strains of senior football matches?

Genuinely don’t know but it seems crazy to be lifting the playing surface less than a week before two big games?

Maybe the games are not that important after all?

At 5pm this evening there was no turf at Hampden

    Cue for a song?

A RUC bullet nearly took Lou’s ear off that night. He joined up with his mates from Andytown for the game. Guess who the RUC targetted? Edith told me she expected to die from a Brit bullet that night for following her team from Glasgow to Belfast. Glad I pulled out that trip at the last minute.

  7. Regarding Souness, worms turning.

    Why? What is his motivation?

    Has Hector been in touch?

What other explanation is there, of course there may be many,

  8. eirreann, have a friend who had the same about ten years ago. had chemo and the keep an eye on him every six months but is cancer free for a lot of years now. hope this helps. godd bless.

Delaney’s, thank goodness Lou and Edith got back in one piece.

Even though I haven’t saw Lou in years, I still hold him in high regard.

Good night all and sleep well

What was his motivation? – If he is being truthful, and we have no way of knowing that at the moment, I believe that he was saying, look I undertook some work for Rangers and they paid me, in a way of their own choosing.

Has Hector been in touch? – we obviously don’t know.

What other explanation is there? – Souness has a good job with SKY and if we think back to the Andy Gray affair, we know that they are very sensitive to any adverse publicity – it’s my guess Souness does not want to be dragged into a tax evasion wrangle.

From memory, I think the other semi final is played the day before on the ( hopefully ) newly laid turf.

    Farce `R` us.

Cheers my friend, the one constant throughout my illness has been the comical episodes from Govan. Fair cheers me up,even when we haven’t been firing on all cylinders their demise and “rise” has been the best tonic available. Green & Whyte has done more for me than any prescribed drugs. Here’s hoping on Sunday we demolish & embarrass them in front of a live nationwide audience, no holding back at 3-0 and shouting oh lay. I want 7-1 without the one…bury them once and for all, have them invading the park as they did in 69 when they tried to rip down the nets. When the final whistle blows there will be trouble big trouble when their (orange) bandwagon hits the buffers.

Oh and may the best team win.

Tontine Tim, Murray signing le petit merde , as you say, first and foremost , was a real get it right up ye to us with the added bonus of the we are not a sectarian club by signing him. I believe Uefa were about to look into their signing policy and this got uefa off their back.

*Exactly, they tried tae circumvent this by signing spencer but if my memory serves me well I believe he was too young and they had to wait another year or so. joe monson was the proverbial gift horse for them. Too thick to realise what he was doing. It’s quite ironic that big Billy didnae originally want him, must have been bad news.

When Martin O’Neill arrived he gave us our pride back and helped us recover from the psychological blow le petit merde signing there had on us.

IMHO he was the catalyst for their steau influenced niar.

It has gone beyond farce. I expect the game on Sunday to be postponed due to H&S executive declaring unsafe pitch.

Can`t watch right now. Will do later.

Lateish `70s our wee band used to play the “Country Club ” , Millbrae Rd. , not far from Tantallon Rd.

My big number, and I didn`t have many , was ” Okie “.

Always fascinated that country music originated from the areas in U.S. of Scottish and Irish immigration ,which is the deepish South.

My wee theory is that the fiddle influence derived from the ould countries. Not to mention the dance styles.

  25. I see from a brief overview of the Scottish press that there is a certain air of optimism emanating from the undead and their unwashed followers.

Neil McCann thinks the undead have improved and we have not.

Some of their hitherto unknown players are spouting their confidence and the MSM are giving them column space.

I don’t listen to Clyde, but I suspect BFDJ is full of euphoria after their unique double.

Is sniveling Keevins showing some realism or is he pandering to the programme’s demographic.

Who else is climbing out of their graves to proclaim the rebirth of the once mighty cheats?

A few words re Merle Haggard – Decent enough country singer.

George Jones was the greatest country musician of all time, as far as I’m concerned.

Jim Reeves, second possibly, Kris Kristofferson there with the best of them. Obviously Glenn Campbell, Johnny Denver – Cash et all Nelson, Kenny, Cline, Williams,Conway etc.
