Space indicates why Moussa scores so many against Newco

444

I read Kenny Shiels’ comments that Newco’s Barrie McKay was better than James Forrest and Patrick Roberts, making me curious about McKay’s contract. The midfielder’s deal expires in 18 months, but when announcing his contract signing, Newco were unusually frank about their newco status:

“The winger has played a total of 78 times for Rangers, after making his first start in July 2012 against Brechin City at the age of 17.”

Before going onto explain in the same article that “The pacey winger made his Rangers debut against St Johnstone in the Light Blues’ last game of the 2011/12 season.”

If you count, that’s two debuts.  For two Rangers.

McKay was clearly Newco’s best player against Celtic, causing problems from the first minute until their challenge ran out of steam. Tying him into a long-term contract will be a priority (or selling him will be).

Yesterday I noted how Kiernan yelled abuse towards Tavernier at Scott Sinclair’s goal at Ibrox, but as this still shows, the entire Newco defence have questions to answer.
2017-01-03-1

There are five defender goal-side of Stuart Armstrong (not counting one on the wing). As the world was about to find out, Sinclair was unattended, but look at the space Moussa Dembele is in! The two central defenders, who will soon claim to be covering him, are five yards away from him. The defensive line isn’t so much a line as a horseshoe.

This is what Moussa scores so many goals against that lot, he doesn’t get this kind of space against any other opponent.

Hope your enjoying the -19 in Toronto :-))))

I start my new job tomorrow- same as my old job, different title and new badge on my shirt

Feeling a bit sevco ish :-)))

    Hail Hail

  2. Saw a thread on Sevco media about signing new players. James McCarthur and James Morrison should be signed to beef up the midfield. Hmm.

Yeah, I realise a comparison was being made, but VFR was denying that he had initiated it, preferring to say it was started by me and Kevjungle.

We were responding to his comparison, which I quoted in my last post.

Glad you agree about Martin. That season in 2000-01, Dundee had players like Caniggia, Sara, Nemsadze, Khizanishvili in their squad. The competition was much more difficult, even without the big-spending cheats.

So where does the alternative clique meet up :-)))

    It’s a secret.

The main thing for me when discussing the MON team of 2000 and The BR team of present times is the desire to play entertaining football. Winning is not always enough, it has to be winning and entertaining the fans.

In 2000 there was no Facing Book or Twitter thingy or More pertinently , Kodi or mobdro. For the greater part if you wanted to watch Celtic you had to make the effort and attend.

Yes there was Sky and highlights but the facility to watch and analyse every game at the click of a switch simply did not exist.

In that respect BR’s task is equally challenging. If his teams do not entertain the fans there will be less desire to make the effort to leave the house or the pub.

Entertainment is key now. Just as the existence of cliques is factual, the increased requirement to entertain the fans and let the punters enjoy themselves must be paramount.

Mon and Brendan are very good managers but like all of us (with a very few exceptions) products of our time, our environments

I’d like to be proved wrong by Brendan, he’s still young enough to do it, but I think Celtic isn’t the place to do it

Heard two deluded sevcoites today in the bookies arguing whether McArthur or Snodgrass would be the better signing for them. How the rest of us laughed.

Martin’s team banged in over 130 goals that season. . . Plenty entertaining!

Yep, you are correct; I reread my initial post (written after a considerable amount of Proseco, Amarone and Stella) and I did start a direct comparison.

No offence intended in the reference to you and KevJ, so my apologies if it irritated you. But to be honest I don’t see where “sucking up to Jim Payne” (paraphrasing) and wee barb afterwards came from.

Anyway we can agree to disagree.

Hun media is good fun at the moment, completely off their heads, looking for sugar daddies and believing that they are not that far away from our level. Long may it continue because until they realise otherwise their pain will continue, which is nice.

That’s one of the best posts I’ve ever read on here. My oul da was probably a bit more outgoing than the manner you’ve described your own but, in common, they both rarely spoke negatively about anyone or anything else.

My da would never hear a bad word said about Celtic and every time I go for meetings at Parkhead with representatives of the Plc I keep that on my shoulder. It gives me balance.

    Thank you for your post.

  19. Have asked this a couple of times recently.

Is there a requirement for a club to have three years of signed off, audited accounts before it can compete in Europe.

And if so, have THEY fulfilled this requirement.

    Anybody know?

Arsenal have as much chance of scoring another 4 as the huns have of winning the league. Great game though. Good to see young Ryan Fraser do well.

bawsman – hilarious – it’s not long since tonto was in charge but seems an age – what a change sinse he has the best manager in the world and 20 something points ahead of us. So much so that the huge story this week was that one of their players played well in a game.
