Spartak and the long road home

1014

Having disposed of Raith Rovers last night, Celtic have two huge away games, against top of the table Motherwell before a trip to Moscow for a Champions League match against Spartak in six days.

Tonight Spartak play just a few miles from the Ukraine border and have a journey of close to 1000 miles on Saturday.  It is little wonder they, like Celtic, are looking for ways to improve their injury record.

Celtic will travel to Moscow only a few hours after Spartak leave the city of Perm to journey home.  On Tuesday we will be the fresher team.  Could this be the game we break our duck away from home in the Champions League?  If we get it right on the park it will be.

I didn’t read the (incredible) statement by Charles Green until late last night, when I caught it via the excellent analysis by Paul McConville on his Random Thoughts blog.  Mr Green, Paul concludes, is “Either… stupid, which he is not, or he has decided to continue to appeal to his core support”.

There is a third alternative.  Last season we watched Craig Whyte, then Duff and Phelps, embark on a series of unfathomable actions.  Neither party was stupid, nor were their actions necessarily guided by anything as a coordinated appeal; they were simply being buffeted along by circumstances.  No one was in control, had the experience necessary or was party to a deliverable Grand Plan, resulting in a series of random utterances.

We’re planning the next issue of CQN Magazine. Let me know if you would like to submit an article or if you would like to advertise, celticquicknews@gmail.com.

You can continue to read CQN Magazine FOR FREE, or can subscribe for £10 or £20 and our sponsor, Executive Shaving, who offer an enormous range of grooming products, are offering readers a £20 voucher for all £30 CQN Magazine subscribers.

Ben Johnson has opened ‘Different Spokes’, a bicycle repair and equipment shop with Lance Armstrong, in Edmonton.

  3. Son Of Dan, as know one has ever seen the famous “five way agreement”, apart from a draft copy, we do not know what was promised as part of the membership deal and what wasn’t.

According to Hearts and a few others the TV money appears to have been cut, yet a deal was agreed which gave roughly the same money with RFC games being televised, how come?

Is there 13 teams now being paid what was split by 12 SPL teams before?

Like all of this there are so many unknown, unknowns mainly due to the lack of statements and clarity by the SPL & the SFA.

If UEFA meanwhile see the current RFC as a new club then neither Rapid or GAIK will be getting paid from CG’s money. If the SFA held back money from players taking part at the Euros then I assume that they are also saying that the two are different club.

  7. it is quite clear there is no will to from hmrc, sfa,spl and

to an extent the judicary to finally come out and deal with

the cheating that has been going on for years, no one seems to

want to administer justice for fear of being blamed, its disgusting the threat from this entity is tolerated and so many

people and authorities are fearful of them, they have cheated for

god knows how long and they know they have been cheating, mcoist, smith, mcleish, souness, murray, ogilvie know fine

well they were cheating and still have the gall to try and defend it as we done nothing wrong, when you have so called ex footballers involved in this cheating is it any wonder the governers of the game are corrupt, the difference here is it is not just about money its also sectarian because or their hatred

of losing to our club, that folks is the real truth and its also why they will find a way of brushing it aside as if they

were misguided in how they used their ebt cheating scam.

  8. BIGbones8867

The key point to the parades commission determination is that no loyalist supporters will be able to attend.

150 residents should be more than enough to stage a peaceful protest as long as the loyalist supporters stay away.

Dissapointed that hymns are to be permitted, not that I am anti-hymn but that in general flashpoint areas should have silence when the walkers march past.

  9. BIGbones8867,

its amazing the coincidences in the cowardice of the authorities in the six counties and the same cowardice from the authorities in scotland to implement justice to orange flavour.

Can’t see anything other than them getting favorable treatment, they should have been kicked out of the game, we would have been.

What is the point, they will be back, allowed to carry on as per, with the full compliance of the authorities and the referees.

    The game is finished.

Lewis was promoted to gold medal and Christie was promoted to silver……

Now bear with me. Christie FAILED a drugs test in 88 Seoul. Not many know that. He appealed immediately stating he did not know how the said drug got into system.

An appeal body heard his evidence and agreed with Christie to an 11/10 majority and dropped the positive test…..

    Still with me….

However 2 people that should have voted on this appeal forgot to turn up as they were still asleep!!! Later both people stated they would have voted against LC and that the vote would have been 12/11.

Christie should/would have been banned for life and not won Gold in the next olympics in 92

I didn’t know any of those guys. I was with the youngest of the Rankine boys and some guys from Gallowgate / London Road. First two years at Duke St., one at Barony St., then two at Parson St.

I don’t remember Gerry Allen at the F.Ps. but I do remember Andy McG. though.

  22. While we await the SFA’s Statement, here’s a wee sum to work out.

There is a number, when divided by 2,3,4,5 and 6, leaves a remainder of 1.

However, if divided by 7, leaves no remainder.

    What is the number?
