Spartak and the long road home

1014

Having disposed of Raith Rovers last night, Celtic have two huge away games, against top of the table Motherwell before a trip to Moscow for a Champions League match against Spartak in six days.

Tonight Spartak play just a few miles from the Ukraine border and have a journey of close to 1000 miles on Saturday.  It is little wonder they, like Celtic, are looking for ways to improve their injury record.

Celtic will travel to Moscow only a few hours after Spartak leave the city of Perm to journey home.  On Tuesday we will be the fresher team.  Could this be the game we break our duck away from home in the Champions League?  If we get it right on the park it will be.

I didn’t read the (incredible) statement by Charles Green until late last night, when I caught it via the excellent analysis by Paul McConville on his Random Thoughts blog.  Mr Green, Paul concludes, is “Either… stupid, which he is not, or he has decided to continue to appeal to his core support”.

There is a third alternative.  Last season we watched Craig Whyte, then Duff and Phelps, embark on a series of unfathomable actions.  Neither party was stupid, nor were their actions necessarily guided by anything as a coordinated appeal; they were simply being buffeted along by circumstances.  No one was in control, had the experience necessary or was party to a deliverable Grand Plan, resulting in a series of random utterances.

    301 divided by 2 = 150 .5

When I did 1st year maths, .5 was not 1

    or 301 divided by 3 = 100.333, same again, .333 is not 1

etc. or am I missing something :>) or just thick !!!

301, which can be shown as follows:

    301/2 = 150 R 1

    301/3 = 100 R 1

    301/4 = 75 R 1

    301/5 = 60 R 1

    301/6 = 50 R 1

    301/7 = 43 R 0

In terms of mathematical congruence classes, we need only find a number evenly divisible by 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 (the smallest is 60), and add 1 to get 61, which has a remainder of 1 upon division by 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. To get a number such that division by 7 yields a remainder of 0, simply add 60 to 61 enough times to reach a number evenly divisible by 7; the smallest is 301:

    61 + 4*(60) = 301

If you think you won’t see the spartak game purely because other “higher” profile CL games will be shown at the same time, I.e. English teams, then do you know Celtic kick off at 5 pm versus spartak with all other CL games that night kicking off at 7.45 pm Celtic park time.

  7. Thomthethim, T E T,

If you are asking for a ‘remainder’ then there will be no decimal points, only whole numbers.

In that case in addition to above – 721 fits the bill.

Rangers won’t be in PES 2013

    Comments 0 Chris Scullion at 09:54am September 7 2012

A couple of months ago we reported that Rangers would not be in FIFA 13 due to the club’s liquidation (caused by overspending and tax-dodging) and subsequent re-entry as a new company to the Scottish league at the bottom of the Scottish third division. Now we’re sorry to say to fans of the Teddy Bears that they won’t be in Konami’s game PES 2013 either.

The reason they aren’t in FIFA is clear – since EA only licences the Scottish Premier League, each year it only features that league and the twelve Scottish teams in it. Since Rangers are no longer in the SPL, that means they’re no longer in FIFA. Easy.

Less obvious was their omission from PES, because outwith a few major leagues Konami picks and chooses which big European clubs to license individually. For years now Konami has sorted out individual licensing deals with Celtic and Rangers (one year Hearts and Aberdeen were included too) instead of the SPL, so chances were that given due to the relatively large Rangers fanbase and the fact that EA weren’t featuring Rangers, Konami might re-license them in PES 2013.

No such luck though for fans of the third-division Newco Rangers. Instead, they’ve been replaced by Motherwell, who finished third in the SPL last season and took Rangers’ spot in the Champions League qualifiers. Ouch.

To recap then, Celtic and Motherwell are your two Scottish teams in PES 2013 this year. The game is out on 20 September and features the full Champions League license. A few days later, Rangers face Montrose, who currently lie second-bottom of the Scottish third division. Think of what you could have had, Konami.

Hope above works. Got it on twitter. I was with a customer on Monday, showed me his ticket for Sevco game on Sunday. Free. He got 25 free tickets from a friend at Ipox. The above twitter link also claims, they are sending out freebies to folk who have not renewed. How many Sevconians actually paid to get in?
