Spartak Moscow today sacked manager Unai Emeri after a 1-5 home league defeat against eight placed Dinamo Moscow. Spartak are confirmed as bottom of Celtic’s Champions League group before they head to Celtic Park for the final game on 5 December.
Emeri has been increasingly unpopular since taking over earlier this year when his spell at Valencia ended, while rumours of dissent in the dressing room were never far away. I had hoped he would remain in place for the visit to Glasgow but there will be a new man in charge by then.
A group of around 200 supporters demonstrated after the game, many chanting for the foreign players to ‘Go home’.

It may turn out to be a blessing in disguise.
As long as it strikes fear into the Hearts of all the Celts who take to the pitch against the Russians.
Complacency worries me a lot about this game because Spartak are incredibly fast from midfield to forward.
The Support, the GB inspired Support will have to be at their very best to get us over the line.
We will still do it. I will wear my lucky t-shirt just to make sure. ;)

I did voice my praise for all involved when Lenny’s name was mentioned, no one knows more than him about victimisation, masterstroke I happy clapped. I believe Lenny can understand both sides, I for one hope he can get rid of the idea that its a power struggle, everyone knows whose in power and the authorities are being hypocrites, Celtic park is regularly used for a music venue, similar numbers turn up and dance, do all that lateral motion stuff, when was the last time a gig was getting shut down for lateral motion offences. Wonder if they’d ever us it as a threat.

The football club means a lot in all of this, as an expression of a separate identity, but I think these elections will have scant effect on what happens at the football in the immediate term.
Of course it will have a major effect when UEFA/FIFA kick them out of the Spanish league since they don’t allow teams to play outwith their own country :-)

That would be a nice price to get for Gary.
The guy is a very good player and I think he has struggled a lot to play near his very best against lower opposition. That is mentality. We need to get much stronger mentalities so that they play at the top of their game a lot more often.
As I say, that would be a Brilliant piece of business as I feel we are rotating and progressing to better quality players, even though the better quality players are not being selected at the moment.
