SPFL have no choice but to act on confidentiality breaches

418

Former SPL chief exec Roger Mitchell is fond of saying his old job had all the responsibility and none of the power, as ultimate control of the League lies with the clubs.  Neil Doncaster has lived through a period of his life he will never forget, but after issuing a comprehensive rebuttal to the ‘dossier’ yesterday, he may reflect that his powerbase has been significantly enhanced by the traumas.

The tone of the SPFL’s response, signed by nine of the 10 directors, is unlike anything I have read before from a comparable body; “baseless, damaging and self-serving attacks”, they did not miss the target and hit the wall.

With no charge outstanding, votes against the League will amount to little more than historical allegiances with the protagonists.  They will do well to get 25% support, instead of the 75% required for success.

I commented on Thursday that the phrase “serious breach of fiduciary duties” was likely to feature in news reports soon.  Instead, the League opted for “gross breaches of confidentiality” for distributing confidential parts of their Sky TV contract in the dossier appendix.

The board have no choice but to act in order to protect their broadcast contracts from breach.  The irony of trying to claim the League is jeopardising a contract by actively jeopardising that same contract is off the scale and indicates the levels at which we are operating at.

Shocking that GPs would even suggest such a thing, thin ice and all that.

Doesn’t seem to be a clear policy re Care Homes, more a combination of such, north or south of the border, and no one prepared to accept responsibility in an emergency. Here surely there is a need for an enhanced role for individual MPs, MSPs etc. There are 650 of them after all.

  2. Let’s get it right, they have made a RIP roaring C*** of it, and now they have muddied the waters even more by tell the good folk down here to go back to work tomorrow, but leave the schools shut. Who’s going to look after the nippers? Could it be the grand parents, could it be the next door neighbour’s, could it be the mild mannered janitor.

    COULD BE.

Incompetent doesn’t get a look in, so if you voted for them enjoy the fruits of your hard labour.

    Flakey near Auldhouse also.

    Not surprised about CM.

My account of Charlie Miller was based on a personal observation of a young happy primary school kid with potential talent who attended Celtic Park in his hoops and scarf.

My info was Celtic wanted him however the mammon of the Murray era and the propaganda of being the best team in history may have been enough to change his perspective.

Being in the company of Mc Coist Gascogne Goram Roberts and such like individuals has obviously influenced him significantly as an adult and outlook on life.

People change not surprisingly and sometimes not for the better or the right reasons.

    Two words “ Maurice Johnston”

Now him signing the sash in public surprised even me lol.

    Hail Hail and NSNO.

  4. Round 1 Fixtures have just been released…….

Some of you may be aware that we are running a number of fund-raising initiatives shortly, one of which will be a very special Last Man Standing competition.

We have finalised all details now and a mail will be sent out this weekend to all those who have been kind enough to indicate an interest in participating. We plan to kick the competition off next weekend, with a round of games on Saturday 16 May.

If you would like to participate, or want to find out more, drop us a mail to cqnpredictor@gmail.com

If you have already let us know that you intend to participate, you will receive a mail this evening with all relevant details, and of course, the fixtures for round 1.

The main beneficiary from this competition will be Strathcarron Hospice, in support of our friend HamiltonTim’s ‘Just Giving’ page.

If you’re looking for something to focus on while you’re staying at home during lockdown, please consider playing. 👍

    Thanks

  5. Anyone think

    Return to training 10/11 June

Play out league – behind closed doors through July ?

Numpty Johnston, thinks sport can return July, we know the Union Jack Brigade all believe in him

The Tories are in charge of NHS England and the SNP of NHS Scotland, that seems fairly political to me.

    How ye

.i would argue during normal times that would be the case but I would put it to you that erosion of the nhs over decades.

It has been privatized/marketized/liberalized and deregulated to the point that those private

I’m fine big fellah thanks. Good point though, and if you read an earlier post of mine(s) I pointed out that the opposition was in a position to repeal the 2011 Act, or at least amend it to place the responsibility for the NHS where it should be, with the Secretary of State.

  9. So this week we will mostly be seeing…

    Monday…..The BNP support the resolution

Tuesday…. The resolution gets 6 out of 42 votes

Wednesday.. Murdoch McLellan(?) sues Dougie-‘Vinnie Gigante’-Park’.

    Thursday…Neil The Don Doncaster sues Scott-The Lawnmower-Gardener.

Friday… Celtic named Champions as we continue to dominate Scottish football.

Saturday.. Celtic announce NHS Paradise as new stadium name earning plaudits all over the world.

Sunday… Sevco demand Government help for ALL top 12 teams

I never wanted RFC to survive and I’m glad they never but I can honestly say if Sevco went into admin I would want them to pull through.

Lockdown without laughing at these bangers would be much harder.

    Yohoho

  10. That being the case it means if Furlough is to continue in Scotland then Holyrood will need to foot the bill. Now i think i understand why Boris made it clear this evening he was PM of the whole of the UK. Devious and sleekit.

  11. TT allegedly charlie miller was offered terms by us and them, the caveat with the latter was naesurname telling him when he played his first game he would pay him 25 grand. I also heard when he was in the dressing room with their youth squad he started greetin when they sung the war tunes.

Scottish government wrote to uk treasury as I understand it, maybe they 3 week furlough is up for re appraisal but my understanding was that it was guaranteed until June

  13. Was the furlough scheme not extended til the end of june,

then they were going to look at ways to scale it back.

  14. Supposedly an announcement on Tuesday by Chancellor. Initial story i read in the Mirror (i know) said it would be ‘axed’ but reading deeper it seems they are scaling it back. Not sure how this will affect Scotland.

  15. David17,

I think if they axe it then companies will insist on there workforce going back to work,

shops, gyms, pubs, restaurants and the like arent going to stay closed if they have to pay staff full wages.

  16. Celtic Mac

I was scrolling up post deleting it and took a sip o tea and accidentally posted it.

Doin grand my friend, the care home governance is spineless and is even more so in the face of the profiteers who make plenty out of our elderly.

I hope it is looked into.staff are being flattened by covid too,who cares when there are no carers left!

If you search out that Skye home and cross reference it with the care commission you will

See warnings about literally everything, they could not get staff, cleaning standards not met,ppe but a dream, failure after failure yet our elderly were still put there and profit not hindered.

Anyways hope your keepin safe and. Check-in in wi oldtim

This is when anyone who has paid into their union needs to make sure McCluskey and his ilk look after their members , I only name McCliskey as I’m in unite before Ernie has a go

TBH I use my own research to counter my employers policies but always advise colleagues to joint up

  18. BT, how ya doin mucker?

The unions have no clout and severely lack leadership/enterprise. This was started by Maggie and eroded by successive Tory and Labour governments.

The PSU allowed DWP contracts to be altered to allow 6.30 and 8.00 finishes with Saturday working. Those that didn’t sign up are now on the National Minimum wage. An absolute scandal in these times.

All the while increasing the pension age for retirement

We are now asked to go to work during the pandemic with no proper measures in place for our safety. It’s all half arsed.

I’ll be in work tomorrow dealing with, not only existing claimants but the additional one and a half million new claims (since March 16th) and the unions are nowhere to be seen.

    Makes me sick.

I have cancelled my union subscription as they do not represent me or my colleagues.

    FFS bhud.

Would it not be better to think, before you post such tabloid like statements?

To then post 20 mins later, with… “supposedly”…sourcing the “Mirror”…. and saying your initial headline statement post may be wrong, after you read deeper (jeez…If i pissed into an empty Olympic size swimming pool, it would end up deeper than anything the Mirror report!).

Jinky was Magnificent . When the game was over my pal and I had no idea how to get back to the bus , luckily spotted one of the older guys on the bus and followed him.

Jinky will always be the best player I’ve ever seen . My first games seeing the bhoys were at Muirton Park Perth 64/65 where my older brothers would take me ( I’m the runt of the litter of 5 , the oldest 2 being 18&14 years older than me) and can remember wee jimmy getting very rough treatment but just got up and got the ball again and took them on again and again Happy Memories. He ended up staying at my brothers house after a supporters function one night an absolute legend.HH
