SPFL have no choice but to act on confidentiality breaches

418

Former SPL chief exec Roger Mitchell is fond of saying his old job had all the responsibility and none of the power, as ultimate control of the League lies with the clubs.  Neil Doncaster has lived through a period of his life he will never forget, but after issuing a comprehensive rebuttal to the ‘dossier’ yesterday, he may reflect that his powerbase has been significantly enhanced by the traumas.

The tone of the SPFL’s response, signed by nine of the 10 directors, is unlike anything I have read before from a comparable body; “baseless, damaging and self-serving attacks”, they did not miss the target and hit the wall.

With no charge outstanding, votes against the League will amount to little more than historical allegiances with the protagonists.  They will do well to get 25% support, instead of the 75% required for success.

I commented on Thursday that the phrase “serious breach of fiduciary duties” was likely to feature in news reports soon.  Instead, the League opted for “gross breaches of confidentiality” for distributing confidential parts of their Sky TV contract in the dossier appendix.

The board have no choice but to act in order to protect their broadcast contracts from breach.  The irony of trying to claim the League is jeopardising a contract by actively jeopardising that same contract is off the scale and indicates the levels at which we are operating at.

You know where I work, social distancing on the shopfloor is a joke.

Tools being shared, jobs being passed on to be assembled.

We’re classed as key workers as its nuculer work.

Most if not all is for backup and can lay in stock for months/ years.

Kelvinbhoy- it’s noticable the SMSM are giving credence to the huns nonsense, as they can’t pin anything on Celtic, the subtext is to get a body. The body being Murdoch McLennan, who has business links to Dermot Desmond. That’s all the desperate ones have.

Before anyone goes back to Wetherspoons, we need a detailed study as to the transmission rate of Covid19 via posh stained sofas.

  5. Bada, yip – despite Robertson being invplved in all of this as part of SPFL…..Davie Provan in Sun online talking about forced to vote on Good Friday and not being given the required 28 days. I say this to everyone I talk to on this subject and posted on here, even the ICT guy conceded it was and advisory deadline, more a request. So they voted because they thought they had enough votes to bring down the motion then cried foul when they failed…..unbelievable!

  6. I used to use Wetherspoons on a regular basis but stopped after his Brexit stance.

Reasons to never use Wetherspoons ever again:

Treatment of staff as soon as COVID-19 kicked off

    Stance on Brexit

Placement of CCTV in ladies and gents toilets

    Level of hygiene in kitchens

Remember it is you that said it…:)

I like 10:00 Mass as it is the time that I would normally go to Mass before visiting the sick in Whifflet St. Mary’s Coatbridge.

    Keep the Faith!

    Hail Hail!

  14. There is a site called Church Sevices TV,

If you open that & click on schedule there is a list of times & Masses, You can click on any Mass you want to watch from Cork to Belfast, Derry to Dublin, London I presume to Glasgow,

I just watched a 10.30 Mass from a wee Church in Cork we used to go when I was a child.

When I went there it was quite a rural setting with the Church at the end of a long Tree lined Avenue.

All the trees are gone & replaced by a Shopping Centre but the Church itself remains untouched albeit now tucked away in a totally different setting.

Anyhow incredible site well worth a look, you will never be late for Mass, one starting every 15 minutes from somewhere.

  15. Went for our messages yesterday.

Quite a long list and included was “apple cider”.

Now we don’t drink cider so it looked a strange one, however, thought I, the wife’s been making some fancy meals so must be an ingredient she needed.

As I thought one bottle seemed expensive, i bought a 4 pack of Magners for £3.98.

Anyway get home and the misses unpacked the shopping and says, “did you not get the apple cider VINEGAR then?”

Err, that’ll be a naw then!

Had a couple in the garden yesterday, very nice too!

  16. Apple Cider Vinegar tastes horrible but is reckoned to be one of the most health Beneficial drinks in the world,

  17. Unfortunately I cannot see pubs opening anytime soon. It would be impossible to have any kind of social distancing and hygiene control. At a supermarket you go in sanitise get what you need and leave taking probably a maximum of 30 minutes and on the whole you probably stay 2m apart for most of the visit.

On a pub visit you might sanitise going in but your intention is to stay a lot longer than 30 minutes. All pubs would need bouncers on the doors and also the toilets to control numbers and social distancing. There would probably have to be a limit on how much you are allowed to drink and how long you are allowed to stay. Smokers would not be allowed to congregate outside the front door so wouldn’t bother going. The numbers being allowed to enter the pub would not be economically viable for opening the pub and paying the staff and food (a big earner) would be a non-starter.

IMHO pubs are a thing of the past until a vaccine is found. The drinks companies will shift their production from barrels to cans and bottles and not give a shit about pubs.

For someone like me who prefers to drink in a pub rather than at home this is a nightmare scenario.

I got this from Friesdorfer this morning, for cruise buffet substitute pub:

For many people, very important .

    ……………

    HOT SMOKED…You are 100% correct.

I live alone, I have NO Family to speak to face to face or on a phone and I dont get any visitors to my home except Heart nurses etc, mostly every 2 weeks or so, although I havent had a visit from a nurse for around 5 weeks now ?

When Tesco deliver my food, its around every 10 days or so, and that is my only source of seeing an actual person at my door and having a VERY brief chat. My medication is delivered once a Month…again there is only a VERY brief conversation at my front door for obvious reasons.

POR CIERTO….Due to my health conditions, my local Pub is really my ONLY Source of being able to meet and chat to friendly faces, including my two best mates, one who owns the Pub, and the other who works there, 3 or 4 days a week.

I fully understand why its probable that Pubs and Restaurants will be among the last to open, and I certainly do NOT have the answers as to how a Pub can open…with certain restrictions that have already been suggested such as, Folk only being allowed Two/Three Pints and then possibly being refused anymore and asked to leave ?

At the risk of stating the obvious, can I comment on my own Local Pub and how busy or otherwise it is on Week Days ?

Being only 20 yards from my home and the FACT that I really struggle to walk much further anyway, I cant remember the last time that I was in another bar other than my local. I do tend to go in quite often and there are plenty of times that there may only be 3 or 4 Customers including myself in the bar.

In such examples, how would it be financially viable for a Pub to be open, and pay a member of staff if that Pub is literally turning away business after I have had those 2 or 3 pints and leaving ( Probably to try and get to another Pub and have another 2 or 3 Pints ? LOL ).

My local is quite a large Pub, and at a guess and keeping a social distancing whilst in there lets say the Pub could hold maybe 30 Customers at the one time….how would any member of staff be expected to keep tabs on “How Many” drinks any one customer has ?

Also, would it be feasible for me to have those 2 or 3 Pints, and then leave of my own accord…only to return 5 or 10 minutes later for another 2 or 3 Pints, especially if I know that there are very few Customers ?

As I say, I do not have the answers, but if I was in my local Pub right now and I had my quota of 2 or 3 Pints, I would be very surprised if the Owner ( a mate of mine), would then ask me to leave….?

    ………

Respectfully, I cant agree with some of your Post about Pubs.

In my local Pub, there wouldnt be any need for “Bouncers”, as most folk know each other and are on good terms with the staff ?

I have been a Smoker for almost 50 years, and IF I could go to my local for only 2 or 3 Pints during this situation, I would STILL go to the Pub and I would STILL go outside for a smoke. I wouldnt need to “Congregate” outside the Pub door with others…I could walk 3 or 4 yards away ( as I often do) and enjoy my smoke…alone ?
