SPFL need eyes on EPL Project Restart

213

The progress of ‘Project Restart’ in the Premier League in England will be watched closely by the SPFL.  Three clubs there have opened training facilities for players, with plans for full training to take place from 18 May three weeks ahead of the first closed doors fixture.

I suspect these plans will be aborted by subsequent government advice, but if England play out their season and Scotland don’t, there will be an outcry, legitimately so.  We want to play the season to its completion, win the title on the field, shut the faces of the perennial losers.  It would also allow us to dispense with any thoughts of league reconstruction to save Hearts from relegation.

A hard deadline has been set by Uefa of 25 May for leagues to submit plans to restart or end their seasons.  That gives the SPFL four weeks to establish their own Project Restart, with government clearance, or call the season.  We should take as much time as is available – move with the herd, as we suggested earlier.

The Dutch, who moved early by awarding Uefa places for next season based on current league positions, but declined to award the title, relegate or promote, are now in a legal quagmire, as they have used sporting merit to determine some outcomes but not all.  This crisis will not reward pioneers.

The goings-on in England will be more pertinent to what the SPFL does than the 12 May EGM.  I suspect the League’s board already know they have the 11 required votes in the bag, but they will want to win the popular vote as well.

From memory, Edgar David’s mask covered just his eyes. The problem with a single clear mask covering the mouth, nostrils and eyes is that it fogs up. Welders prevent this by having the lower part of the shield some distance from the mouth, which would defeat the purpose of a virus shield.

    Nice idea, though!😊

Maybe they are behaving this way in order to make them feel important, certainly strange behaviour for a brand new club…..here’s another cut and paste job from the ET …talking about sevco statements

“What definitely hasn’t happened was all the Rangers players being attacked on the pitch at Hampden in 2016.

What definitely hasn’t happened was a multi-million pound bid from China for Morelos.

What definitely hasn’t happened was an opposing fan sliding under Morelos’ Lamborghini and tampering with the brake pipes.

What definitely hasn’t happened was the racial abuse that Morelos didn’t discuss in a Sky interview.

All of these stories were sanctioned by the Rangers”

    aint that the tuth…

Did we ever get the full story on who provided the translation – or did sky give us the fob off

Might have jumped le gun there but the fact is that the French Prime Minister, Edouard Philippe has called time on professional sports in France, “notamment celle de football”. I see though that L’Equipe is running a vote on readers preferences re PSG, relegation etc. as in how would you want things to finish. So the French FA have had their season ended for them, unlike thus far the SFA, FA and so on. Question, do they now decide to go Dutch?

  5. Celtic Mac. In Holland both top teams were level on points. In France PSG are 12 pts ahead with a game in hand,

I expect PSG to be declared Champions.

the latter Gene – fobbed off. Sky, apparently are like sevco, a business partner we dont want to upset.

  7. France’s decision to knock all sports on the head this summer will impact PSG’s champions league ambitions. They won’t be playing their quarter final home game in Paris.

  8. I suspect Sevco will at some point next week, release a statement…

In that statement they will allege that the EGM is a foregone conclusion and as a result they will not release their dossier but will instead consult their legal representatives.

    Re Haggis in the US

It is made and sold in the USA however the recipe is different. This is necessitated by the law which prevents the use of sheep lungs for human consumption. It does lack the full flavour of our haggis IMHO

  10. So the Scottish government is now recommending the use of face masks/covering when out and about and social distancing is difficult.

The First Minister has stated that wearing a face mask 😷 will not be mandatory unless you are a hun.😉

On a serious note- the U.K. Goverment do not recommend the use

As and I Quote – it only offers SLIGHT protection

Is slight not better than none ??

Anyone in the USA who has a gun should have no problem getting a haggis …… they don’t run that fast.

No problem Rock Tree Bhoy, Celtic Mac made a post as well earlier than you which also stated No Champions.

I would be shocked to mt boots if the French didn’t make PSG Champions,

I understand the Dutch position with 2 teams level at the top & only goal difference separating them.

    ____

The team top of the dutch second tier was 11 points ahead.

Now there will be no relegation/promotion.

I expect Celtic to be named champions but don’t expect it to be easy. The Orc’s are going to fight tooth and nail.

    Yes, bound to be.

Though probably more effective at dealing with outgoing rather than incoming fire.

And hopefully also screws up facial recognition systems.

  15. NORRIEM,

I thought I had another son for a moment there.😉

Yes of course any sort of protection is better than no protection but I wouldn’t be surprised if BoJo and his cronies do not follow suit because they have been upstaged by the Scottish government. Any government that counts one glove as as a unit of PPE cannot be trusted. They probably count each shoe cover as one unit as well.

  16. Police Scotland have just reported that a large gathering carrying torches and pitchforks has been seen in Paisley in the vicinity of St Mirren Park. 🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️

  17. St Mirren looks as if they’ll vote against the hun resolution. That’s it lost already.

Motherwell, Hamilton, St Mirren and Celtic will almost certainly vote it down.

I’m sure Chic Young will agree with the sensible position his club are taking.

The French Prime Minister ruled out any resumption of team sports before August, but the PM did also say that during that month, matches ‘in camera’ or “with a few people” can be held. That might allow UEFA to complete any oustanding EL or CL matches involving French teams, especially PSG, so they would probably happy if they are declared Champs. As should we.

Over here doctors say masks will not protect you from the virus. If you have it and wear a mask it might protect others from getting it from you. It’s still a situation that there are not sure of.

If it protects others why not everyone wear a mask, but when the curve is flat and we all take our masks off who knows what would happen.I think we will have to wait for a vaccine.

There was a poll done here and 40% dont want mandatory vaccination.

    Fun times ahead.

  21. I hope Celtic lead the spfl to come up with a schedule to finish the premiership league. Once that’s done, prize money can be distributed.

Meantime I hope there is a full and independent enquiry into the conduct of the spfl around the Dundee vote.

I’m sure all clubs can afford their 1/42 th share of the cost.

“You can get Haggis in the USA……….Enjoy it while cleaning your Glock………”

    Nice company you keep:-

“Glock has been the target of multiple embezzlement schemes involving high-ranking officers of the company or others closely related to the company. In 1999, Charles Ewert attempted to murder Gaston Glock after Glock asked for a meeting regarding an accusation of embezzlement. Ewert was convicted of attempted murder along with an accomplice for his involvement.

In April 2012, Paul Jannuzzo, the former CEO of US subsidiary Glock, Inc., was convicted of racketeering regarding his involvement in an embezzlement scheme against the company.

Investigation of these cases brought to light questionable financial dealings in the background and complicated ownership structure hidden behind a string of shell companies in favourable tax locations around the world.”
