SPFL will move with the herd, isolating angry losers

746

We received clarity from Uefa on some important issues yesterday and not on others.  Access to the Champions and Europa Leagues next season will be granted only on sporting merit.  This finally nailed hopes of the Null and Void Loyal.  If a league was declared void, its standings and results would not hold, so no sporting merit could be determined.

If Newco want access to the Europa League qualifiers, they need the SPFL to award a winner and second place, despite their protests.  Our old pal Cognitive Dissonance must keep them awake at night.

It is clear from the Uefa statement they have listened and tried to accommodate several scenarios.  Where titles are close, like Italy, where Lazio narrowed the gap on Juventus to a point, Uefa suggest a play-off system could allow chasing teams to make up the difference.  AZ Alkmaar trail Ajax on goal difference but the Dutch league is expected to call a halt to the campaign as early as today.  There are no truly satisfactory closures this season, least of all for Celtic, who will be denied a title winning game.

What we didn’t get was a hard deadline on when teams have to be nominated for European competitions.  After discussions with Uefa, the Italian league extended this season’s Serie A to 2 August, so we know for sure the European draws cannot take place until after that date.

I expect we will see European leagues synchronise their moves; there will be no incentive for any radical undertakings.  Those without rabid losers will be first to call time, the SPFL will move with the herd, as it should.  Then those who called for independent investigations into why the SPFL acted the same way as the rest of Europe will look like the angry losers they are.

Stopped watching it, they portray his as a arse hole in this version😵😎

  2. I love the substitutes scene on the tunnel. At that time I sat beside Roddie the Badgman and he worked at the BBC. He filmed the match from section 405 next to me and we watched the tunnel scenes through his camera as it was happening. A day I’ll never forget!!

Where did I apportion any blame ?

There’s many ways to constitute an opinion or argument. Healthy debate helps a blog , the manner of how the opinion is expressed , and the timing often speaks volumes.

You will have to explain the context of an “unfashionable “ poster to me .

If I’m in a clique, it will be the first time I’ve noticed. If being in a “ clique “ constitutes sticking up for a pal then hey ho , guilty as charged. I’ve also stuck up for others that I’ve never met and disagreed with some I’m aquatinted with.

Being a Tory or having political opinions that sit on the right wing is hardly unique on CQN.

Then again, few ever wore it as a badge of honour and proclaimed it so loudly.

If you reply, I will catch it later. HH

  4. Don’t think Roddie the Badgman is on cqn, but if he is, I’ll never forget this mate, some of the happiest days of my life that season.

  5. Don’t tell me how the game ends folks. Have to wait until it populates iPlayer for download.

    HH!

Ps Smuggled a bottle of champagne into that game. Boy was that a pop!

  6. Even though I knew the score, I was still nervous the whole way through that game. As bad as the day itself, as I couldn’t be there. Listened to the radio when the game was over; I had to be down in deepest Ayrshire.

  7. Bada Bing,

i never had a ticket for the game,

was at home with a carry out and said i wasnt drinking til Celtic scored,

was half cut by half time thanks to Henrik

  8. My abiding memory of the day was an RTE broadcast showing victorious fans being interviewed as they returned into the City after the game and this little kid sticking his head into the frame grinning and keeping interrupting in a broad Glasgae accent, saying, One in a Row.

  9. Tontine, Wee Bobby Collins, Clydebank Bhoy1,

Yes, Cuba was a great experience. We (TCD) played 3 soccer games against Cuban teams in 1988. We had to fly to Gander and then on to Havana to avoid American airspace. All students had to receive permission from Dept. of Justice not to have their passports stamped in Cuba, to allow them to go to U.S. after.

Alberto Juantorena was to meet us at the airport, as Cuban authorities were excited that a European soccer team was visiting Cuba. We played a Cuban 11 and their officials had the teams walking behind the tricolour and both national anthems were played in temperatures of 90 degrees.

We stayed in Varadero , Havana and played last game in the Caribbean side. The Cuban hospitality was wonderful, with very friendly people. It was a great experience seeing the way the school kids were immaculately dressed in their blue, white and red uniforms We seen a lot of the countryside in our travels. Everyone worked and the Health service was free for all including visitors.

It was the first time I wore a hoops jersey, that one of the other guys loaned me.

We believe we helped build a relationship between Cuba and Ireland. Cuban boxing trainers came to Ireland .

In political jargon, a useful idiot is a derogatory term for a person perceived as propagandizing for a cause without fully comprehending the cause’s goals, and who is cynically used by the cause’s leaders.

Meanwhile the useful idiots propaganda is allowed to stand unchallenged, I take it, it aligns with the moderators political views and agenda.

    Fritzsong,

you’ll be unhappy to know I am not a Nat. I am a socialist who believes the mixed economy is the only hope for humanity, All forms of capitalism have been practised failed and it is reverting to its original version, feudalism.

I’ll have a guess are your political leanings, a slave waged capitalist, who would sell your children into slavery rather than accept your preferred economic and political model has failed completely. The only reason it stands is because they have more bombs and are stupid enough to use the nuclear option thinking they can win, just like the hun, prefer to take everyone down with them them accept they are wrong.

As for the rest of your drivel, I already know most of it as propaganda,

“To mention a few: it sent hundreds of doctors to fight disease and famine to the fledgling USSR in 1919”

Except between 1918 and 1922 as identified in the list, the good oil US of A sent its navy to land assault troops to fight the Bolshiviks five times and got sent home with their tails between their legs five times, so them hundreds of doctors you babbling shit about were there to fight, granted, but not disease or famine, they were there trying to take advantage of a perceived opportunity of weakness.

“The other act of magnanimity never, sadly as yet, repeated was the 1947 Marshall Plan. This saved Europe from a second Depression.”

The words of stupidity, what this so called act of magnanimity actually achieved was to sell Europe and accept American imperialism will dominate Europe for the rest of your father’s, ours and your children’s lives. Americans see themselves as the new Aryan race, who demand exceptionalism, they cannot and refuse to be held accountable Re: Harry Dunn and the thousands of murders every year around American bases, and useful idiots like yourself put them there.

    Away and bile yer heed.

No intention of taking anything up with P67, you made the decision to silence me, however I have reworded and reposted so no harm done.

  13. Almere thanks for your response earlier, I’ve got the wee fella out hunting for treasure in the woods behind my house 😀. I could do without YouTube being available on Sky Q though…

  14. My memory of the game that stopped the 10, was crying controllably at end with a Mixture of relief, joy and sadness that my dad wasn’t there to see it. It became a bit different later and have no idea what time I left the Welcome on London Road

  18. Sevco’s plan is to simply re-open the debate about ending the season because the last one lead to nill and void being completely removed from the table. The did not expect the initial proposal to pass and so are acting like toddlers.

If a general meeting is agreed by the spfl they will likely come forward with emails etc from the spfl that demonstrate that the spfl were trying to sell their plan to clubs, not unexpected given the spfl drew up the plan. I would guess those plans would outline the truths, risks and potential challenges and the spfl would have contacted all 42 clubs about the issues as well as, providing a report.

At the end of the day 42 clubs made their decision. I doubt very much that all those owners and chairmen and woman will have been bullied into voting one way or the other. It is actually insulting to suggest otherwise.

If sevco have proof of wrong doing why not just give it to the spfl, sfa and the clubs. It’s not like they are slow to put statements out so what are we all waiting for?

They want the clubs to reopen options to end the season. This is so they can push against the previous vote and they want money now, nothing more

My guess is some emails showing spfl doing what you would expect them to do, sell their plan.

Dundee vote investigated and nothing in it (all clubs have 28 days to vote and can change no to yes) is in the law of the land which ztands above any football law.

Reconstruction talks were also going to be progressed so discussions with dundee offered nothing the spfl did not already agree beforehand.

The payout based on league places stuff is blown up bull as all clubs know loans are available. Not prize money could be released before conclusion of season.

I would also like to know what the 3 guys being accused get from coercing, blackmailing and bullying?

    How do they benefit?

    What is their motive?

Sevco and Aberdeen’s games behind close doors is pie in the sky, it will cost our clubs more to stage games, pay bonuses, staff stadiums, take medics away from critical areas, risk increased social contact and therefore second wave of coronavirus just as we are seeing a reduction, seriously how stupid and selfish are you cunts?

That is before looking at playing all games by August for new season to commence. if teams cant start training until 10th june, 6 weeks training takes us to 24-July, 8 league games, plus 2 scottish cup games so we can add poor maths to no empathy, no common sense and stupidity to their skills deficit.

No make sense to call league, keep social distancing in place with gradual easing of restrictions over the next 4 months giving us all a better chance of returning to normal asap.

All clubs will take a.financial hit but cutting cloths, no bonuses, significantly reduced running costs, 80% wages covered for most staff, players going out of contract, loans ending etc and reduced player wages moving forward will all help.

As a celtic supporters I often hear about celtics massive wage bill, but people forget we include all staff into our overall wage cost not just the players hence the 60 million is all staff. Celtic have about 7 million pounds a year in players wages, before bonuse, going out of contact at end of june. Our management, football department, coaches and players have agreed wage reductions and some wage deferrals and we have non playing staff getting 80% of wages made up. We may not have significant incoming but we have reduced out outgoings too.

Celtic may burn cash but acted faster than most, no kicking the ball down the road in the eastend of glasgow. We may have to cut more beef and we may need to move on some high earners, but I doubt that will need to take place in 2020.

Hello again all you young rebels.

And a big hoopy good morning from a sunny autumn Melbourne.

Only one new corona virus case today again, and the clamour to ease

    restrictions gathering momentum.

But the state premier is standing firm.

As usual the look at me protesters are getting more vocal by the day.

Don’t know if it’s the same back in the U.K. but a new phone app was

launched today which can inform you if you’ve been in contact with

someone who has the virus and you are then contacted.

I think it’s a great idea and so do over a million people who have already

    downloaded it.

But some people say it’s invasion of one privacy blah ..blah, me i’d

rather be aware and healthy, there’s plenty of privacy in a wooden box.
