Spineless, unacceptable attack on Celtic fans

619

Your reputation was dragged into the mud by Social Justice Minister, Humza Yousaf, MSP,on Twitter this morning.  He wrote:

“On upcoming Celtic Vs Rangers match, we need clear messaging from everyone that fans must stay at home. If Police intelligence tells us, despite clear messaging, that groups of fans are going to gather to square off with each other, we need to consider if game should be postponed.”

“If Police intelligence tells us groups of fans are going to square off with each other” is his technique of throwing the blanket of blame over Celtic fans to prevent him addressing the threat of further social unrest head on.  He feels safe saying adding “Celtic” instead of calling out the true problem.  It is as spineless as it is unacceptable.

Be clear: there are absolutely no plans to postpone this game and there is no police intelligence that fans will square off.  None.  What there is, is a significant threat that the problems of last weekend are repeated on 21 March.  As far as this SNP government is concerned, we dare not speak that problem’s name.

This has nothing to do with Celtic and nothing to do with Celtic fans but your government is happy to trash the reputation of both.  He is toying with the reputation of the innocent and the occasionally vulnerable young.  If a Celtic lad turned up wearing lipstick Yousaf’s head would explode.

A lead in the polls does not permit you a free kick at Celtic fans.  Social Justice Minister, give me strength, you are contemptible.

  2. Don’t get me started on loan players.

4 off : not automatic choices and circa £5m per annum.

How much should a top manager earn ?

This would certainly be a good percentage.

The days of long term team building have gone.

Once a player shows potential he becomes a signing target and will be sold. That’s just the economic reality.

Loan players are a consequence of that reality, not a cause of it.

  4. one, maybe two loan players mibbe – but not a whole formation of them.

The team needs more players who are invested tin the result and their reputations.

  10. Neil Lennon has a better managerial record than Roy Keane. And was a better fit.

I have to start by saying that I salute your tireless efforts over the last years. This contribution is not intended as a criticism of you.

    Regarding your conclusion above;

“With one tweet saying “Talks with SFA and UEFA are underway to restore trust broken out of what was viewed as commercial necessity in 2012 ” that would lift the burden of renewal choice from ST holders (if such a statement were believed and who wouldn’t want to?”

I have to say that I too would love to believe this.

But I also have to say that I believe that the bond of trust, and sense of common purpose, between me and our senior management; I.e my perception that they and I share the same goals for the club, is broken.

I know what I wanted for the club. I wanted us to kick on, be perennial champions and develop and maintain a profile as regular CL contestants, at least finish 3rd in group stage and maybe last 16 EL most seasons, maybe an odd CL last 16

I think I now realise what DD and PL have wanted over the past 15 years. I don’t think they wanted the same. I think they wanted to finish a short head in front of the Huns, keep the product interesting, throw the Huns a bone and get them back in the game. They wanted to act like a pair of ugly stepsisters tarting ourselves at the Greatestleagueintheworld.

And that’s never going to happen and DD can’t see a way out.

Reluctantly I am coming to the conclusion I have had enough.

I felt bad in the early 1990s when I stopped going but felt that change had to come and it would bring something better. I also rationalised it by convincing myself at the time that I was recently married and a new father.

Now I feel like I’ve been taken for a complete mug.

    ===================

In the early days after Res12 was adjourned one poster in particular Tony Donnelly was a frequent critic of the requistioners saying we were being taken for mugs by PL.

My response was that as the requistioners were acting on behalf of a wider support then it was they that were being taken for mugs.

Your post suggests that slowly but surely more are realising that is the case but not enough I fear to cause a change of thinking and do the hard work to tackling the barriers that keep Celtic, Scottish football and Scottish Society in the darkness.

Some might say that is not Celtic’s job, but if not us then who?

  13. lets all do the huddle on

I think anyone could agree with such a position.

Key caveats being “quality” and “motivated”.

The quality and the motivation of the manager / coach might also be key to the ultimate success of such a relationship.

    Think for yersel ffs.

Get independance & then vote thr Best psrty to tale us forward.

If I think for myself, can I just vote for the best party to take us forward and decline the pretence that changing the national boundaries makes me any more independent.

  22. We have want away players like AJer who have given their all

And want away players like Ntcham and, I suspect, Jullien, who have not done so.

We have loan players who left well paid jobs with Milan and Brighton to cocme here and play for us. It was not a lack of motivation that let Shane Duffy down.

We have use loans to good effect to work out who is worth buying . We used it with Boruc, Forster and Edouard. I would say also that Robbie Keane did more for us as a loanee, than most of the signed players we had in the half season he was with us. He won pur club’s POTY for his 4 months of work.

  23. …there’s no substitute for class……..

  25. ADI DASSLER

I think for myself and I’m mindful of others who live & work in Scotland.

An independent Scotland would on day-one be de-facto bankrupt with a mere fraction of the influence, infrastructure & economic clout of the UK.

Outside of it’s biggest market (UK), no currency, no central bank and haemorraging industry, UK commercial activity & its financial sector…..and in an uncertain world in which we have suffered a global financial crash and a world-wide pandemic in the last twelve years, crucially no UK safety-net. UK has protected us from the worse ravages of these disasters & asssured our way of life.

If there was a coherent economic policy to justify independence, the SNP cult would be shouting it from the rooftops and plastering on every billboard they could rent using monies ‘skimmed’ from the £20 BILLION allocated by UKGOV to Scotland during this pandemic – their stoney silence should tell you everything.

Vote SNP for the impoverishment & isolation of Scotland.

Those who take your point of view have never thought things through – knee-jerk reaction & spite drives the NATIONALIST supporters.
