Spineless, unacceptable attack on Celtic fans

619

Your reputation was dragged into the mud by Social Justice Minister, Humza Yousaf, MSP,on Twitter this morning.  He wrote:

“On upcoming Celtic Vs Rangers match, we need clear messaging from everyone that fans must stay at home. If Police intelligence tells us, despite clear messaging, that groups of fans are going to gather to square off with each other, we need to consider if game should be postponed.”

“If Police intelligence tells us groups of fans are going to square off with each other” is his technique of throwing the blanket of blame over Celtic fans to prevent him addressing the threat of further social unrest head on.  He feels safe saying adding “Celtic” instead of calling out the true problem.  It is as spineless as it is unacceptable.

Be clear: there are absolutely no plans to postpone this game and there is no police intelligence that fans will square off.  None.  What there is, is a significant threat that the problems of last weekend are repeated on 21 March.  As far as this SNP government is concerned, we dare not speak that problem’s name.

This has nothing to do with Celtic and nothing to do with Celtic fans but your government is happy to trash the reputation of both.  He is toying with the reputation of the innocent and the occasionally vulnerable young.  If a Celtic lad turned up wearing lipstick Yousaf’s head would explode.

A lead in the polls does not permit you a free kick at Celtic fans.  Social Justice Minister, give me strength, you are contemptible.

I agree. The rule of big capital is not restricted to football.

Peter Lawwell was only following instructions, so I’m not sure how much credit or blame he should take or be asked to accept for the catalogue of successes and failures over his exceptionally lengthy tenure.

And, given that he was only following instructions, and that the person who issued those instructions is still in place and will still be issuing the instructions, I’m not sure how much anything is going to change, if at all.

But it is a bit silly to suggest that there was no other route that could have been followed other than the one that was taken, and that there was no other possible outcome rather than the one we are having to endure.

Things could have been done differently, and we could be in a better place today.

The SNP need the catholic/celtic vote because they don’t have the extremist protestant/sevco vote. They are 100% unionist. At the same time they don’t want to offend the mob. Bombs and bullets in the post and all that. The SNP have a difficult balancing act.

a better class of drivel than the faux catholics will be burnt at stake, fear and angst spread by unionist who always like to ensure this is a unionist weapon to scots if they dare to think outside the union

this after threatening it endlessly since 1707

have a little more faith in your faith it extends over borders and stop the fear narrative.also read Celtic the early years for a comparison of then and noe

John Kennedy hasn’t resolved an issue in his two games Neil Lennon failed with all season. Including Neil’s final pick in Dingwall, we’ve a return of one deflected goal scored in our last three games.

It’s been an unpleasant screen watch to see a rotating series of empty jerseys at 9. Disengaged emotionally, uninvolved physically, self-indulgent in possession, flat-footed out of possession.

Season ticket holders have carried the club on their shoulders for sixteen years, it’s a fair shout to look to the capital providers to kick start the reset.

independence looks further away now than it has for a while unfortunately.

having it based around 1 party is always going mean support or otherwise is closely linked to peoples general thoughts on that party which is not how it should be

it shouldnt be party political – all other parties will still exist post-independence. in fact independence is probably more of an existential threat to the snp than any other party, perversely enough

so looks like the CQN Brit Klan will be marching up and down to the beat of P67’s lambeg drum for a good few years to come yet

  19. Calling folk who question the SNP brits is deliberately obtuse and does you no favours.

  20. The huns are sleekit.

    Hypothetically:

If they dressed up as women and converged on Parkhead they would be a protected species, no matter the havoc they caused.

Unfortunately if there were any females among them, then they could face the wrath of the law.

    Only in Scotland.

No wonder ” independence ” is dead.

Generations of Celtic fans supported Scotland remaining as a member of the UK and shunned the SNP. Support for the cult is recent phenomenon, and really only got going after the GFA.

Good news on the Unionist frontline. Wee Mikey Gove will be visiting Glasgow on Monday to confirm that he will be opening another Cabinet office in the deer green place. Hundreds of jobs available, will suit apron wearing political flunkies, including some on here. Not sure where it will be based, but pretty sure it won’t be too far from George Square. That’s handy.

  27. I don`t really follow Party Politics but I do take an interest in the oratory skills on display.

My view is that Ruth Davidson would be better suited down The Barras, Nicola Stugeon and Jackie Bailey are both very good and Keir Starmer is very unimpressive.

Masonic aprons are normally made from lambskin(what do they have against poor wee lambs and goats?) but exceptions will now be made for vegans…a vegan mason? a masonic vegan? It doesn’t sound right. Anyway, it seems plastic aprons will now be considered acceptable…as will blow-up goats.

On a slightly non football theme, that’s the second couple I’ve spoken to who are now not conforming to strict covid rules. Having a visit from their children.

The reason, last weekend events, now these are folk who wouldn’t get on a bus with an outdated ticket, nor do they give a monkey’s about football. The lack of serious action by the Government towards that mob is having implications!!
