I try to avoid those who really should be avoided but I caught the report of Peter Lawwell’s Sky TV interview on their website yesterday. The “No summer sales” headline was misleading in itself as our chief exec actually said “there is no real necessity to sell players now”.
We are a solvent and well-run football club, there is no real, or imagined, necessity to sell, but there is an enormous leap between this status and “no summer sales”. All clubs, not just Celtic, sell when an offer exceeds their valuation for a player and they believe the money could be more productively redeployed elsewhere. There is no necessity for Manchester City to sell players, not until the oil runs out in the Middle East, anyway, but they may still sell.
Best part of the article was from Charlie Nicholas, “I’m a bitter idiot. Listen, I’ll prove it…..”
I’ve translated that quote from the vernacular.
Loved newco Rangers accounts. £3.5m in the bank on 31 December, £1.5m loan since, so they have £5m to operate until the season ticket money comes in, which will just be enough, but cash burn is running at over £1m per month; close to £15m a year.
£30m-£50m is not enough.

Disappointed PL didn’t ping the guy when reference to Old Firm was made though. I’d loved PL to deny existence of same.

As one half of this partnership has now been liquidated (2012) are Celtic the sole owners of this trademark?

it would appear the joys of CQTen, Seville reminiscing and winning the league have disappeared from the dear Green-and-White Blog…….
Regardless and apropos of hee-haw, I meant to ask a couple weeks ago, whats happened to DonegalDanny and Gweedore Bhoy. Did they make a comeback for CQTen?
Those Bhoys maybe ruffled a few fathers in their time, but they were good contributors to this site. Or are they still posting but under new monikers?

Although who knows, maybe in their youth a fair few “maidens” were left high – but not so dry – by them?

I asked a question.
You decided not to answer until I had reformulated it to your satisfaction.
I have no other point, obscure or not, to make.
I have already made all my points.
I’m afraid it is you that has been game playing and still has a question to answer.
I’ll check later if you get around to it.
Otherwise, no skin off mine.

You seem to have missed out the income from the Dallas Cowboys deal……
Bada & tom m
Prize money, rental for semis and season books will see them exist a bit longer.
Without another share issue the situation on 28/03/15 might be very very different.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I stood up for JF to be put down for standing up for JF to have you praise a post by KK for putting me down for standing up for JF whilst he is standing up for JF and then you come on and ask me what I am on about.

Sorry but WHIT?????
Show me where ANYONE has ‘put you down’ for standing up for JF?!

The attempts by the MSM to devalue CFCs title are disgraceful
When not demeaning the league win they are intent on selling our best players
Concentrating on nitpicking at CFC whilst failing to accurately report on their favourite tea,
The latest Govan guise will die ….and once again the MSM will have played an important role
Dont read ,listen to , or buy them ……

My supporters bus made a trip there two years ago. As Tims they were given fantastic hospitality by the locals and are in fact planning to return this year.

Nonsense.
I was commending him for his praise of JF, nothing else.
I made absolutely no reference to you or KK’s reply to you.

I just checked back mate, and I wasn’t judging, even a fool knows what a prick looks like, regardless of which team he supports.
I wasn’t classing Celtic Supporters as so, but you tried to have others believe that was my intent, if that is true, then you are sick; you’ll need to take six months to study fallacy.

I’d love it if one of them media types said Sevco’s title win is devalued as their was no celtic in their league.
Was scrolling back and tried to fathom out the Jeanette Findlay debate, but I got dizzy and gave up.
Hamiltontim:
Then I apologise, my mistake.
There- their

Watched some if the Sevco game on Sunday …utter dross …
To think they’re over spending by £700k per month to put on such crap …makes me smile
Let’s cheer up on here – Just saw the clip of Broonie getting a bottle of champagne emptied over his head during his after-match interview :-)

Funtime Friday on here this afternoon!! Did we win the League this week? Jee Joe Jings smile we are the Champions not part of the Clumpany!
Libertadores Results
+++++++++++++++
Somebody was remarking about my lamentable prediction rate on these games. Well, last night just goes to show that, at least, I’m consistent!
To be honest, if I’m tipping anything less than a 70% probability, means I’m not sure about the result at all.
Anyway…………………
Lanus (Arg) 2 C.Porteño (Par) 0
A game which was played in torrential rain from start to stop. Lanus’s first was a wicked, Araujo, deflected shot from outside the box, their second a poorly defended corner, Benitez, right at the death.
It appeared as though Cerro had come to play for the draw and hit on the break using the speed/control of (by birth) twin attackers, Oscar and Angel Romero. They did have a “legit” goal chalked off in the first half, but seemed devoid of ideas once they went behind and eventually substituted both strikers.
This result now leaves Group 3 the closest of all the groups with Lanus, Cerro and Dep Cali all on 7pts with O’Higgins one point behind. Final games (Apr 8th) are Cerro v Cali and O’Higgins v Lanus.
Inde del Valle (Ecu) 1 San Lorenzo (Arg) 1
A result which suited neither team this one.
Never saw it all, but also looked like a drudge match. However, fair play to San Lorenzo for continually taking the game to altitude assisted, IDV. It looked like they had got their just rewards when they took the lead at 59mins thru a Nicolas Blando headed effort. However, IDV were awarded a VERY late soft penalty in the 5th minute of injury time to (very) controversially square things.
Other 5th round match in Group 2 is Botafogo v Union Espanola, at the Maracanã, next Weds night. ‘fogo knowing that a win will guarantee them first place in the group. Meanwhile the Papa’s XI, San Lorenzo, needing as one paper put it this morning, a “milagro” .
Final games (Apr 9th) are San Lorenzo v Botafogo and Union Espanola v IDV.
Universitario (Per) 3 Strongest (Bol) 3
Two key points about this game:-
Universitario under the new manager “Chemo” del Solar seemed like a revitalised side. Probably only their lack of self belief that let Strongest back into the game.
Strongest played like a team possessed (they were 3-1 down at one stage), in particular veteran naturalized Paraguayan striker, Pablo Escobar.
With their final game at home to Atletico-PR Strongest must be fancying their chances of advancing to the next round now. Universitario delighted to have broken their points and scoring duck and probably fancying a result against, already qualified, Velez in their final game.
All you ghuys doing the math re the huns.
Have you taken into account the MILLIONS the Beeb, Sky and BT will give them for televising there games for the remainder of the season?
Ah don’t think so, personally.
Not sure what I find most worrying. That the MSM say our title is devalued without “Rangers” being in the league. Or that they think “Rangers” being in the league would have provided us with any meaningful competition…..
Question for the pieman:
Do you miss Rangers?
So the deid are still no deid yet & Celtic PLC still reserve the right to sell whomever in the summer?
Any real news?
there = their
Kit
Not a bother mate.
