As the excitement of Saturday begins to fade perspective begins to dawn. If Hollywood scripted homage to Lisbon, this was it. The stage was set 50 years and two days after the event for a truly unique, inVIncible, treble.
In ’67, Celtic came from behind. In 2017, they did the same. In ’67, Inter tired as a relentless Celtic pressed for the winner, just as Aberdeen did on Saturday. You and me have left Hampden after many cup wins, but I don’t remember as elated a crowd as Saturday’s. It was as though the Spirit of ’67 reached out and touched us.
Stuart Armstrong and Tom Rogic will compete with each other, and with new faces, for the precious central midfield roles next season, but both delivered big time on Saturday. It you watch Stuart’s goal, it had a touch of the Tommy Gemmell’s about it, with Shay Logan turning side-on, just as the nearest Inter defender to Tommy did.
“Don’t let him get onto his left”, is surely what every defender says when facing Tom Rogic. In particular, every Aberdeen defender. The big Aussie is so potent with his left foot. But we all need a second option in life, and Tom’s is the confidence and ability to take a chance on his right.
Stuart and Tom will both improve next season. Think about that.

What an absolute great season this has been . My greatest regret in following Celtic , is I can’t remember 67 , I was 6 years old, although am told , I could sing every single word of the Celtic song, my first game at paradise was last game the lions took to the field , where I was took to the jungle and faced , well nothing, no stand, at the time , took me years to understand they were building a new one. I am sure we played Clyde , might have been 6-1 ,anyway ,the reason for my post is my dad and brother took me to that game, showed me, taught me, all about our great Celtic team, my dad and brother are no longer with this world, but , when Rogic blasted the goal to give us the best season since 67 , my thoughts went straight to great Celtic fans, many tears were shed in the posting of this comment, hail hail.

Jim is still at CP. He is doing his A coaching licence in Ireland and sees his future in soccer.
Monkey?
Big Jock told his players to forget what had been achieved by the club in previous years. He told them to create their own legends.
They did and what they did will never be repeated under football’s present structure.
Brendan’s team have created their own legend, which, arguably, may never be repeated.
The only club hurt by Lisbon died five years ago.

Ah,indeed. The very man.
Bobo’s Gonna Get Ye!!!!
To this day I’m convinced that he would occasionally lose a challenge/possession so that the forward could run in on goal with an increasingly loud THUDTHUDTHUD reverberating through the pitch behind him.
And getting closer.
Echoes of a quote from Wellington.
One hard scary guy. And a particular (anti)hero of mine.
Scared me shitless just looking at him,can you imagine spilling his pint?

“Having stood in the Jungle as a boy, it was a great honour to be a director of Celtic,”

Far be it for me to out a dampener on a Momentous Week by moaning but this was just something that got my goat…
You may say Paranoid Moi…
And I must admit the Many of The Stories and Praise that was heaped on the Lions has been Stupendous… Rightly So…
As pointed out by at the time by a few on CQN some Media types couldn’t help but have a pop or a dig or a swipe at us…
Obviously Didn’t say anything at the time but a rather snidey headline got me.
It was in the Telegraph, a review of the BBC’s Lions Documentary, by Roddy Forsyth.
“TV to celebrate Lisbon Lions’ fabled European Cup triumph 50 years on”
Now their is a lot of adjectives you could use a and many ways to describe the Legendary ’67 Victory in Lisbon but it was in no way, shape or form a fable… I’m sure a Journalist of 30 + years standing knows what it means. Very underhand in my opinion.
If Mr Forsyth wants to find a fable to write about he need look no further than his Favourite Glasgow Club(s).
Hail Hail
EL thought that one would draw you out only surprise is you were’nt first!!
Ah well, back to reality. The blog has been heaven for the last week or so. A pleasure to read every day. So many stories and so much fun had, and shared, by all.
But the grumblers just bided their time.
I sincerely hope that the blog can retain some of the joyful atmosphere and that the stories and videos keep coming.
Comhghairdeachas Almore on the KT win. And also to The InVIncibles.
Hail Hail.
