All three outfits looking to take control of Rangers want to meet the SPL before formalising their bids. It would be inappropriate for any bidder to discuss the terms under which a new company could enter the SPL with the League’s executive. It is not their place to negotiate with the League, or to establish the terms under which they would be prepared to spend money on Rangers.
Let’s be clear about what cannot be achieved by meeting the League:
The SPL cannot give them any indication as to whether the resolutions will be passed
They cannot give them any indication if other resolutions will be proposed and passed
They cannot give them any indication on the probability of a new company being given access to the SPL
SPL executives have no influence on these matters. From an information discovery position, these meetings are utterly pointless, there is no need for them and no insight can be gained from them.
The SPL executive cannot consider representations from third parties who are hoping to cut a deal on buying a club. If any bidder were to discuss their own bid or the consequences of any sanction the meeting becomes wholly inappropriate.
Any meetings which do take place should be minuted, with minutes distributed to all SPL clubs, and should be open to any other SPL clubs who wish to attend.
No secret deals, no secret attempts to influence.
Pay your bills!

It must be impossible for them to be guaranteed anything.

Aye definitely a change in the mainstream air. I actually heard Traynor talk of a Div3 start not necessarily being a bad thing for a weakened Newco before he went to Oz.
Lower wage bill, winning games, titles even, as they aim to get back up as quick as possible. Practicing living within their means, paying bills, showing they can be trusted.
It makes a lot of sense.
Another name that crops up a lot in this scenario, that wee wishart . jeezo the ex orcs hold all the positions do they not .. Is ogilvie still in a job .

Well played Robbie Savage. Every time I hear him questioned regarding Celtic or Neil Lennon he never fails to stress his disgust over what Neil has been through as a manager up there.

That D&P thought this meeting was a possibility suggests they do not understand the factors at play.
Good.
It is an unbelievable idea.
Good intro Paul, and yes “It would be inappropriate for any bidder to discuss the terms under which a new company could enter the SPL with the League’s executive”………Inappropriate hey, that’s why they are where they are in this most recent little setback. Their history is littered with inappropriate behaviour !
Galling, I know but the wee arra people do not (and don’t feel the need to) behave as in the expected modes. You know that anyway eh!
No dig (at you or any others who see it differently from me) but we are dealing with a group who really, really, think that they are above and beyond reproach. Ably assisted by power brokers whose vested interests are intertwined with the survival of that outlet for whom all their inherent venom needs to be visited on the rest of us at regular intervals with some horrific and deadly results…………….
“No secret deals, no secret attempts to influence”……………. Really!!!
Beg to differ but (IMHO) secret deals and attempts to influence is/are precisely what will ensure their survival………..God Help Us.

On the question of what would be an acceptable outcome (and I know the following will be viewed by some/many as highly unlikely and an indication I am deluded) but if I were advising Rangers I would be saying this to Alistair McCoist.
Alistair, tell D&P and CW that the party is over.
Tell them it is time to stop struggling to hang on.
Tell them it is time to let go.
As a rallying point you have the opportunity to lead Rangers forward by accepting what Scotland is telling you, that what Rangers have done is a betrayal of the game we all love,no one more so than yourself.
No one meant it to become a betrayal, but it has.
Accept this.
Liquidate the club, pay off the creditors as best can be done under the insolvency rules and apply to start again at the bottom of the senior professional game. You will come back.
If you can allocate even a small percentage of income to keep paying legacy creditors, do so. It is a small sign of integrity, but the watching world needs some sign.
This Alistair is the decent thing to do and those supporters who stick with New Rangers will be the decent Rangers support.
They will be the ones on whom you can build a future. They are the kind of people that the rest of football can start to build a degree of trust with, because they will have acted with honour and, dare I say it dignity.
Such a move will transform Ranger’s situation as well as our game and if you really love and value it, you will take the step sadly, but knowing you are laying the foundations of a new Rangers that all Scotland can start to trust. Without trust as a foundation there is no future.
It will be difficult medicine to swallow but as Gibran says
“It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self.”
It is the only way back and the only way forward.
I hope Celtic are taking notes of all the ‘new rules’, ‘rule changes’ and inconsistencies in applying existing rules which is going on within the corridors of the SFA and SPL – and sending a dossier direct to UEFA and FIFA HQ in true informer style,
Accompanied with a plea to allow us to withdraw our services from the Scottish Football game and to be allowed to submit an application into whatever English league we can get into – I genuinely dont care if its League 2.
I sincerely believe Celtic on their own would be embraced by all down there – and seeing as the huns look like they will be on par with the rest of the semi professional standards of Scotlands elite league – it will suit the entire Scottish game too.

Totally agree!!The attitude of he huns in my work is one of blaming everyone else. The fact that their team have cheated everyone, from other teams, to hospitals and schools is lost on them.

What’s a dutch and an exotic?
You shoulsd post more regularly. Very entertaining.
Email sky tv tell them a newco rangers parachuting straight into SPL will result in YOU cancelling your sky sports or switching to virgin altogether!
Celtic should be in talks with virgin about Celtic tv!
A mass exodus of our support from sky will be damaging to the SPL ….
Remember Apparently it’s all about the tv money
Glad to see Jelavic doing so well – increases the value perception of SPL players, strengthening Celtic’s position in transfer negotiations. Unfortunately, the huns have no such advantage, with most of their 1st team squad off for a token sum the minute the transfer window opens.
Just noticed Jelly Legs score there – happy days. Wee Pearl Diver on him at 7/1…

What did he say?
Sixtaeseven, improper registration of players issue is under investigation and will be dealt with.
Agent Green, it looks like it.
pabloh, it is utterly bizarre that some believe the improper registration of players issue is being ignored, despite clear information to the contrary. Perhaps a touch of paranoia here.
Honest Mistake, ha! Yes.
Chairbhoy, all true.
ASonOfDan, true.
Auldheid, agree.
TheBarcaMole, yes, inappropriateness upon inappropriateness.
Auldheid – your idea balances on the notion that even one person has to accept and vocalise the fact that wrongdoing has occurred. A penitent.
Considering we’re discussing a man who, days before administration, was trying to sign Daniel Cousin as the ‘steel’ to retain the league in conjunction with at least one of the Administrators – I think you may have the wrong man.
Where in the name of the we man was his wages coming from?

Have only done my first few CQN posts over last week or so although I have been reading blog for the last couple of years. Have now noticed that, despite trying very hard not to, I have chosen a name very similar to an existing poster “themightyquinn” who I’m guessing has been on here a lot longer than I have. Using the last in first out rule, I will get my name changed if I can work out how to – any help from experienced posters required!
In the meantime, apologies to “themightyquinn” for nearly stealing your name and looking forward to skelping the wee huns at Hampden tomorrow!

top right of the screen , you should see THE MIGHTY QUINN, click on it, hope that helps
That should be goal of the season from Fallon.
Outstanding
Jelavic was apparently offside when he scored.
He must think there is something about playing in blue that is universally favoured by officials.
what a strike from Fallon
Have to say….
That is a contender for goal of the season… not seen many better than that…

To “dutch’ is to back 2 or more in the same race, to give you the same profit, whichever wins. An “exotic”, is an american term for a tricast, i.e. pick the 1,2,3.
Thanks Paul, maybe renegers inappropriateness could/would/should replace renegers in administration, seems more apt eh!!!!
