SPL cannot hold secret meetings with Rangers bidders

806

All three outfits looking to take control of Rangers want to meet the SPL before formalising their bids.  It would be inappropriate for any bidder to discuss the terms under which a new company could enter the SPL with the League’s executive.  It is not their place to negotiate with the League, or to establish the terms under which they would be prepared to spend money on Rangers.

Let’s be clear about what cannot be achieved by meeting the League:

The SPL cannot give them any indication as to whether the resolutions will be passed

They cannot give them any indication if other resolutions will be proposed and passed

They cannot give them any indication on the probability of a new company being given access to the SPL

SPL executives have no influence on these matters.  From an information discovery position, these meetings are utterly pointless, there is no need for them and no insight can be gained from them.

The SPL executive cannot consider representations from third parties who are hoping to cut a deal on buying a club.  If any bidder were to discuss their own bid or the consequences of any sanction the meeting becomes wholly inappropriate.

Any meetings which do take place should be minuted, with minutes distributed to all SPL clubs, and should be open to any other SPL clubs who wish to attend.

No secret deals, no secret attempts to influence.

Another area in which PL and DD should be laying down the law.

Probably in my lifetime I will have watched Celtic and Hibs play each other without change of strip.

As I have posted previously. If ever I win a Euro Lottery mega roll over, I will buy the Tic and they will play in nothing other than the Hoops.

I had Cappa Bleu and some other horse that couldn’t get the day aff work to run, in the works sweep.

I am not even convinced that Celtic and Killie could not have worn their first choice strips in the League Cup Final but there you go. Celtic are party to it at times, but the 2001 Cup Final had SFA influence on it. But you are right, if we get to the Cup final we should agree with Hibs that we both wear Green and White.

I picked my horse using the colour method too.I then watched the race on the old black and white portable in the room.Did the charcoal and white or the grey and black win it?

  9. well done hibs, I wonder if we’ll see that sign out ‘OF FO, one down one to go’ from the hibs fans. poor ole lambo’s been walloped by manc.

On this point are member clubs entitled to see minutes of meetings etc as a matter of course in the day to day running of SPL business? One would hope so. The SPL surely represent the clubs that are it’s members. Without the clubs the SPL does not exist. The SPL is it’s clubs. So it seems reasonable to assume that the SPL is simply the organisational vehicle for those clubs to compete with one another in a league format.

I don’t know how transparent it is but it should be a house of crystal when it comes to dealings within it’s metaphorical walls. Nothing should be hidden from view.

    from the guardian….

Livorno midfielder Piermario Morosini has died after suffering cardiac arrest during his team’s Serie B match at Pescara on Saturday. Morosini’s death was confirmed by Dr Edoardo De Blasio, a cardiologist at Pescara’s Santo Spirito hospital, who said: “unfortunately he was already dead when he arrived at hospital. He didn’t regain consciousness.”

All Italian football league matches this weekend have now been suspended as a mark of respect.

Morosini, 25, was given urgent medical attention on the pitch after collapsing after 31 minutes of the match. A defibrillator was also used before Morosini was rushed to Pescara’s Santo Spirito hospital.

The Associated Press reported that the player was conscious when he was stretchered off the pitch but was put into a medically induced coma at the hospital. Italian news agency Ansa reported that Morosini suffered a heart attack in the ambulance.

“He looked at me in the eyes when he was taken into the ambulance,” Pescara’s general manager, Danilo Iannascoli, told Sky Italia.

Italian media reports said a car belonging to traffic police blocked the ambulance’s way into the stadium and a window had to be broken so the car could be moved.

“I don’t know if the ambulance was late, but I know that the entrance onto the pitch was blocked by a vehicle,” Iannascoli said. “Morosini collapsed, he tried to get back up but then collapsed again.”

The match was called off, with many of the other players leaving the field in tears.

I’m with the board on the silence, we have to wait to see whether people are posturing, politicing or serious about fraud. Then and only then we have to hit them with everythingf we got. Celtic can be isolated like no other club in spl.

  14. Gold Cup winner and AP McCoys horse destroyed after falling during the national.

1 other horse has also been destroyed….

  15. Watched a good bit of Hibs Aberdeen. Really pleased to see a very decent crowd.

We need every bit of evidence we can get that we don’t need rangers for scottish football to thrive.

In no way am I hoping for this but imagine a Hearts v Hibs major final in a few years to come. More than possible if rangers are scraping about in the bottom of the SFL for a few years.

I really cannot see the logic being used by SPL boards and chairmen outside Celtic. This is their chance. The paltry sums they get from TV can be easily made up. This chance at potential glory for their clubs is probably a once in a lifetime opportunity. It seems to me to be madness to not want to strangle rangers if you are an SPL also ran like Aberdeen Hibs or Hearts. Three very decent sized supports who can be mobilised with the promise of success.

What’s happened to the huns is too big and headline news all over the world. The authorities in Scotland are scared because this is uncharted territory. They will not be able to hide this under the carpet.

Now’s the part of the National I don’t like, naming the horses that had to be destroyed.

There were events considered untouchable and these had to remain on terrestrial tv.However,I have no doubt there’s money exchanging hands somewhere and it’ll soon change.
