SPL dominoes might all fancy ditching HMRC debt

1072

It’s difficult not to associate Hearts’ owner, Vladimir Romanov’s outburst on their club website yesterday with the current issue over Rangers finances, which could soon see the SPL, the SFA and the media take sides between Rangers and their creditors, in particular HM Revenue and Customs.

Romanov’s rant on the demise of the Scottish game was ignorable until he dragged in the “tax authorities” for blame.  As you and I know, the tax authorities don’t play favourites, they collect vat, income, corporation and other taxes in line with the law.

Hearts failed to pay player wages last month and Romanov now says, “there is no point is spending millions to watch someone else’s show”.  Most of Hearts debt is owed to Romanov’s own bank but if player wages are unpaid there is a good chance HMRC will also be outstanding, explaining the “tax authorities” reference.

If a new football club playing at Ibrox is ushered into the SPL with a points tally calculated from the position of a defunct Rangers you can expect a gold-rush of clubs ready to flush their debts to the country, and history, away.

Well done to STV who yesterday revealed the actual decision making process which would be put in place to judge an application to join the league midseason or at any other time.  The SPL board, by simple majority, have the decision, while the SFA need to ratify membership.

If the SPL board vote to reward bad debtors’ shares in their league what incentive would most clubs have to pay their bills?  Fortunately, our history is more valuable than any amount of cash.

The new issue of CQN Magazine will be out next week, let me know if you would like to advertise, celticquicknews@gmail.com.

“There was a fight at training yesterday. The photo with Commons proves that it wasn’t a massive deal but was a training ground spat.

Celtic have dealt with this well.”

Chris Commons has made you look like an anti-Celtic rumour monger. Can you not put your hands up and say that the rumour was BS and you were tricked by an orc?

  2. Paul67,

Are you painting a worse case scenario or do you genuinely believe that this is about to unfold,

the reason im asking is you are regarded of having a good ear concerning celtic and have you been

warned of whats possibly about to be incarnated?

  3. The Honest Mistake

“It is the most critical week of our careers at Celtic”

It appears a decision has been made that if we drop anymore points on Sunday a change in the management will occur. HH

  4. The Honest cover up

“Irregardless (sic) of the exact details……”

    *************************************************************8

The exact details constitute the truth in my very humble opinion. Anyrhing else is interpretation, opinion or even propaganda. Headlines, tabloid columns, phone ins and dare I say it ‘some bloggers’ -not you- thrive and wallow in disregarding the exact details. They sow dissent, rumour and cause division by playing loosely with the facts. This suits the need for controversy and sales. This would be understandable if those were the only ends. But for some it is the division and dissent that they are after.

So ignore ‘the exact details’ if you wish. I can’t and nor do I want to.

  6. Someone should be sacked for sheer incompetence. Was he deliberately left out? If so, why? Or was it an oversight by someone?

THOMAS ROGNE will not be able to line up against Rennes tomorrow – because Celtic did not register him in their squad for the Europa League.

The Norwegian has been a starter in the last two games, against Hibs in the League Cup and in the SPL at the weekend, when the Hoops recorded their first shut-out in seven matches.

But after Uefa today confirmed Rogne is not included in the names Celtic registered with them before the group stage of competition kicked off last month, the 21-year-old will have to drop out of the team once again.

It means yet another enforced defensive change for Neil Lennon, who is desperate to find a settled back four.

With Moroccan full-back Badr El Kaddouri cup tied, Kelvin Wilson out long term through injury and Glenn Loovens battling to recover from a hamstring strain, it almost certainly means he will have to revert to the Daniel Majstorovic/Charlie Mulgrew combination.

It doesn’t appear like anything of the sort. It will be the most critical until the following week and then the following week until we win the league. We knew that at the beginning of the season.

I doubt we’ll have a better opportunity. That would be the selfish move and one which I basically approve of. Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s anywhere to go at the moment.

    Paul,

Should we not be asking for some kind of summit? We can’t stand back and watch this unfolding. I expect there are legal angles that will limit our influence, but, our business is directly impacted by the mis-management of these clubs.

As I’ve stated, I don’t have a great deal of time for the view that we should blow up the league to teach them a lesson. Such reactions rarely have any useful place in business. We take it on the chin and do our best to ensure we get the maximum benefit from our superior position (which on the park we’ve not been great at). However, you are 100% correct to say this cannot be allowed to slip by without resistance.

As to the SFA and the SPL. These events paint them as a good deal less than pointless. Jeezo I could come up with a fixture list and spend my life ignoring poor pitches, poor referee’s and bigotry and I’m pretty sure I could get a better TV deal (!?!?)… and if football clubs wanted to pay me a fee to do so, great. What on earth are they actually doing?

We’re going to want Hearts and Rangers to survive if we want a league worthy of the name, but, the framework of our football is clearly not remotely useful.

He is joined in that elite band by Sephane Mahe, Andy Payton, Graeme Sinclair, Mike Conroy, Owen Archdeacon, John Hughes and …….wait for it…….. wee Stuart Slater! Strangely, none of the ‘not THAT good’ players from recent years make the list. Maybe that’s down to the ‘dis-connect’ between modern day players and supporters.

On a more serious note, what is Commons thinking about?? Our #9 Dream top-striker could get his hair snagged in that neck brace and be out for months. Where would the goals come from then, eh Kris??

I have been banging on for days to my reader that if this mess is not sorted by fair and just means, then Celtic have no option but to resign, take their case to Europe, if necessary, due to unfair trading conditions and take our chances.

One thing for certain is that we can’t continue to play at a crooked table.

What “superior position” is this? Listen, I’ve spent the last few days reading this from you, Auldheid and others, that we will have some kind of authority over everyone if this happens, a free hand to rebuild the game in an image more suited to us.

And I’ll tell you now, it’s absolute bull.

You tell me; after we’ve sweated blood over every single penny in recent years only to see Rangers run up debts to whip us on the field, only for them to pull a stroke like this which renders good governance absolutely moot; demonstrates clearly who the REAL power in the game here is and writes it in stone for all time; after Hearts have been allowed to do the same, and sponsors and everyone else are running for the hills because Scottish football has become a corrupt, stinking, festering joke … what “superior position” are we going to have?

We will have been royally grafted, done up for the world to see. We will have demonstrated our utter powerlessness if we were opposed or worse; we will have connived in a fraud.

Moral high ground? Superior negotitating stance? Don’t make me laugh.

If this happens we will have less than nothing. We will be a laughing stock, in a league which is seen around Europe as bent.

Someone should be sacked for sheer incompetence. Was he deliberately left out? If so, why? Or was it an oversight by someone?

More likely, he was left out of the squad because of the domestic players rules where they need 8 locally trained players out of the 25 man squad. We only have Charlie Mulgrew, Mark Wilson, Scott Brown, James Forrest, Paul Slane so our overall squad had to be reduced by 3 to 22. This can be supplemented by players under 21 and with us for 2 years which is why we have quite a number of underage players in the squad.

Rogne could have been included but either Majstorovic, Loovens or Wilson would probably have had to be left out and with Rogne being injured at the time the squad had to be submitted, it made sense to leave him out.

I don’t think anyone could be overly blamed for this.

That is some amount of injury concerns, added to the long term absentees. Something isn’t right there, when you compare it to the Huns. The coverage of rat boy’s injury in the laptop loyal and Snyde etc just highlighted how unusual it is for one of their squad to get an injury, same with McCulloch last season. Undeniably the refs play their part in protecting the huns and letting our players be attacked, but I still think there is something not right in our fitness preparations.

Not quite bring back Brian Scott, but it used to be the case that I could tell you the name of our physio and club doctor, now I don’t have a clue.

Since you don’t know the “exact details” then why do assume innocence on the part of Brown/McCann and culpability on the part of Jansen? The story of Jansen being asked to contribute to a financail plan isn’t entirely important in my opinion. I reckon that by this stage the working relationship with Jansen and Brown was unworkable and Jansen had decided he was leaving for this reason after the St Johnstone game in any case. That’s probably why he refused to participate. Ask any ex player from this era for their input. Brown was suggesting alternative players when Jansen was submitting his transfer targets. This is a fact. Read Paul Lambert’s book.

It isn’t “fantasy” for people to put their views across. Unless you have personally witnessed every event and every conversation you comment on then you too are interpreting and opning when you comment here. It’s what people do. There is an awful lot of paranoia on here that every second poster is a propaganda driven PR specialist working on behalf of Rangers/Media House. Chill out. There are different opinions and conflicting contributions to this site. That’s what makes it interesting.
