SPL stalemate leaves bare truth narrative for Rangers

643

A stalemate was one of the more positive possible outcomes from today’s SPL meeting.  Such are the layers of intimidation which have been levelled across a spectrum of football clubs, bodies and individuals in the last week, it was difficult to imagine SPL chairmen standing up for sporting integrity after Sandy Jardine’s ominous words.

Unfortunately, for the Magnificent Duff and Phelps, they will have to shred plans to blame someone else for the shambles they are, kind of, administering.  Their creative talents will be taxed to the limit to explain for another two weeks why it is in creditors interests to consume available monies while Craig Whyte has not moved an inch in 10 weeks on demands for his shares of stadium security.

The narrative of this story is also important.  Angry Ally could have blamed the SPL chairmen for Rangers imminent descent into oblivion, and demanded to know where they live, but this would have been a corruption of the truth.  Rangers will not die because of the SPL or SFA but because their own misdeeds of the last 20 years are about to catch up with them.

This will be their final narrative.  Be angry at those who administered and profited from the EBTs, no one else.

Have to say – fair play Gary Neville.

Boring accent but his observations about what City fans have lived through were first rate…

JQB – During his brief appearance on Clyde’s SSB, Thomson replied to the host: “I assume the gentleman who just phoned in already knew Martin Bain had put £100,000 in an EBT scheme and was asking for another and was asking for documents to be shred.”

    Is that not material?

So the SPL have bottled it in their treatment of Rangers, and it’s all Celtic’s fault.

    Unbelievable.

Your telling me PL hasn’t thought about the financial implications regarding hubs dropping out of SPL ?

£42 a pop don’t make me laugh, I’ll believe our board when they come out and make a statement regarding this shenanigans so untill then I’m afraid I’m sceptical.

To be fair to both managers after their touchline bust-up, they did shake hands at the end. Wonder if they’ll be sharing a bottle of Brunello do Montalcino just now…?!

As I said earlier if they are allowed in why not give them 2 points for a draw and 4 points for a win? We all know how corrupt this place is so why not? If they cannot sign anyone for a couple of years I could see them promoting something like this, only kidding but it is so corrupt now. From the SFA and media to Salmond, surely Uefa has to step in and say enough is enough you feckin backwater.

I can’t remember any other time where some “outside body” stood shoulder to shoulder with us, maybe Uefa will, I would like to think they are even a wee bit interested in football!!

No… it was great radio, but what has materialised? The allegation that shredding occurred, has gone nowhere, neither do the MSM seem cowed or worried by AT appearing on the scene – at all.

I’m not getting at AT, what do we expect? I just don’t believe he’s going to come in and blow the whole thing apart.

  13. JimmyQuinnsBits, 21:50

I’m happy to see it and he’s not here to back Celtic up, he’s reporting a story he thinks of interest.

I suggest you tell him what you think as it’s fair comment and he’ll take it in the spirit intended. This website is great but can often serve to keep us where we are – happy to complain, however justifiably, to each other and do nothing to advance our cause. So anytime I see something of interest here I ask what the source is, so we can do something with it and use it to hurt them and not just reinforce our sense of grievance

  16. If a newco huns are allowed straight into the SPL then there is no valid argument for them incurring any penalties whatsoever.

If Scottish football needs the huns in the SPL to survive then it needs a strong huns, not a handicapped huns.

  17. There was some shredding of underwear when the second goal was dinked in, did you see the state of our five star facilities at half time.

He can do nothing without information to back up his story. Many posts on here, and elsewhere, have been chased with emails and phone calls but to no effect. He knows what information is out there – but he has to have it to do something with it

  19. hen1rik –

Why should Celtic make a statement at this time? The vote hasn’t happened yet and until it does, there is nothing for them to say. In any case, what do you expect them to say at this point in time? Neil Lennon has been quoted extensively that Rangers deserve all they get and shouldn’t be given any favours. I haven’t heard reports of Peter Lawwell telling Lenny to keep quiet. Again, what do you expect Celtic to say? Do you want them to be like the Huns and offer up threats to other clubs?

Serious question – what do you want Celtic to say at this time?

If you want them to say they are against a Newco Rangers going straight back into the SPL, then they have already done so, unless you simply refuse to believe a word of what Paul67 tells us.

It’s always the same. Every time there is a delay or it looks like the SPL/SFA might be holding back from doing the right thing, the onus eventually falls on the Celtic board and it is somehow their fault for not coming out and making some sort of statement. Absolute nonsense.

I have posted a few things on AT’s blog not a bother, but when I have posted anything in the slightest contraversial, it’s been moderated, one post went up, it lasted all of 2 mins.

I feel the same as you, AT is a quality jurno, but I feel he is out of his depth here, where is the scoop headlines ???

Couldn’t believe my ears, listening to Neil Doncaster earlier. He was an absolute disgrace, an embarrassment with the incoherent rubbish he was spouting. The CEO of the SPL, made up stories, used incomparable examples and was almost encouraging football clubs to liquidate and shed their debts. A total imbecile of a man, I held high hopes for – totally out of his depth.

Thankfully, thems setting up a newco with access to Ibrox isn’t going to be straight forward and could lead to a lengthy court battle. they have got into such a mess there is no easy way out, irrespective of the authorities seemingly doing Pilates and yoga to help them out.

It is going to take the laws of the land and CW’s greed (& massive gonads) & tickets to ensure their future is extremely bleak, irrespective which form it takes.

    great day yesterday ;-)))))))
