SPL stalemate leaves bare truth narrative for Rangers

643

A stalemate was one of the more positive possible outcomes from today’s SPL meeting.  Such are the layers of intimidation which have been levelled across a spectrum of football clubs, bodies and individuals in the last week, it was difficult to imagine SPL chairmen standing up for sporting integrity after Sandy Jardine’s ominous words.

Unfortunately, for the Magnificent Duff and Phelps, they will have to shred plans to blame someone else for the shambles they are, kind of, administering.  Their creative talents will be taxed to the limit to explain for another two weeks why it is in creditors interests to consume available monies while Craig Whyte has not moved an inch in 10 weeks on demands for his shares of stadium security.

The narrative of this story is also important.  Angry Ally could have blamed the SPL chairmen for Rangers imminent descent into oblivion, and demanded to know where they live, but this would have been a corruption of the truth.  Rangers will not die because of the SPL or SFA but because their own misdeeds of the last 20 years are about to catch up with them.

This will be their final narrative.  Be angry at those who administered and profited from the EBTs, no one else.

  1. Stupid huns…

They led a protest back in November against the BBC for alleged biased reporting after they showed a documentary about Craig Whyte’s(may he forever be a Celtic Legend) murky past and questioning if he was fit & proper.

Fast Forward 6 months and they lead a protest against the SFA for not doing something about Craig Whyte because of his murky past.

No wonder they are desperate to get their kids into our schools…

    Paul,

    The question nobody is asking:

If RIA cease to exist, what will happen to the coefficient?

    and

If RIA are proven to have fielded illegible players all those years, what will happen to the co-efficient?

I would have thought that ceasing to exist would not affect the coefficient – Clubs have gone bust before, but the results previous to that ‘event’ have been valid. The fielding of ineligible players however is another whole can of beans. However, it would be interesting to examine the precedent UEFA have set when dealing with our old friends FC Sion and their European results. Back calculating all of the results over 12 years, and removing coefficients could turn into a career for a scorekeeper.

worryingly, according to bert kassies (statto extraordinaire) it appears…

scotland are currently ranked 25th in the national coefficients. this would mean all 4 qualification places for the season after next (i think) would be for the europa league. nb, this season 25th did get a place in the champions league (qualifying round 2) for the champions, but i seem to recall that will be changing for 2013/2014. i presume this is the root of the disparity.

on the positive side, rangers are only contributing one coefficient point as things stand, so losing them would only drop us 0.250 coeff points in the national rankings (these are the figures which competition and round representatives entry is taken from) and this would see us retain our position as, er, 25th as slovakia are 0.325 coeff points below us in 26th.

It was also my understanding, until very recently, that we had a reciprocal agreement to pay for damage caused by fans at away grounds.

Even if this is a myth I assume that both clubs would prefer their own fans to believe it to be true.

That way they would hope that their fans would desist from causing damage that would ultimately be paid by their own clubs.

Of course in administration the Orcs would not care if we sent the bill as we would just join the long ,long list of creditors.

SANDY JARDINE has thanked the thousands of Rangers fans who showed their support for the club over the course of the weekend.

Supporters turned out in huge numbers on Saturday to march from Queens Park to Hampden where they submitted a letter to the SFA in the wake of recent sanctions imposed by the governing body.

Jardine had earlier chaired a meeting of the Rangers Fans Fighting Fund and supporters at Ibrox before leading the walk to the national stadium.

And the Rangers legend says he has been hugely impressed by the response from fans since the club went in to administration in February.

He said: “Since that happened the fans have been magnificent in their support and the rally was a chance to demonstrate their commitment to saving our club.

“I would like to thank everyone who played their part on Saturday and to each supporter who turned up to make it a strong show of support on our march to Hampden.

“It shows the continued level of support our fans will give to the club and everyone associated with Rangers is very grateful for that backing.

“I’d also like to thank the police and Glasgow City Council for their assistance in making sure the event proceeded smoothly and at short notice and without cost.”

  19. if, as appears inevitable, rangers don’t pay us for their share of match tickets, and an extrordinary, or should that be extra-terrestrial ludge meeting fails to bail them out by coming up with the readies…
