Celtic’s preparations for the new season kick up a gear this week when they face Sporting at Estadio Algarve tonight, before facing Middlesborough at Celtic Park on Saturday. With so many players involved in the World Cup, work for the official kick-off has been restricted. There is only a friendly against Milan to come before Dundee’s visit a week on Monday.
My general rule of thumb is that good ‘results’ in preseason are unwelcome. Ange Postecoglou’s 2-6 hammering by West Ham five years ago was a welcome tonic in this respect. Kyogo, Jota, Carter-Vickers, Starfelt, Juranovic and Joe Hart would soon arrive to kick-start our current five-in-a-row run. I expect my rule of thumb will be facilitated by Sporting later. Maybe for the best.

Really?
So two seasons ago under a proper manager when we beat dc utd Man City and Chelsea giving us the confidence and platform to have our best European run for years , it was unwelcome was it? Even the players who came within a whisker of taking Bayern Munich to extra time namechecked that pre season as the catalyst.
But hey P67, you’ll be happy at last nights result where our players have been coached to stand still so that the centre backs can pass the ball behind them.

Not too far, about half an hour as the crow flies, we had a small fire where I am, but they managed to put it out before it really took a serious hold, a couple of choppers ferrying water from the nearby lake put paid to it, took about a couple of hours mind you, scarry stuff.

No further forward to matching MoNs ambitions I see, ach well, it is what it is and if the truth be known I was fully expecting it as my previous posts will confirm.

What we do know is that the guys out there need many reinforcements and the talk of “we need to sell first” smacks of a second division outfit run by amateurs… If the cap fits…..
Michael is in the back of beyond working away😮. Martin must have learned sign language in the close season, if he talks to him all the time. Quite incredible how we are being regressed every season. Another season of civil war awaits.
