Benjamin Nygren”s arrival on a 5 year contract this early in the transfer window illustrates the concern Celtic have about their options on the wings.
Nicholas Kuhn is attracting attention in Germany and Daizen Maeda has shown no interest in taking up the new contract offer, despite talks being in their fourth month. It’s not difficult to imagine both players having other things in their minds come the last week of August, when you and I will only be thinking about the Champions League playoffs.
Benjamin being in early is not a solution for this issue; the player is new to Celtic and even successes like Daizen and Nicolas took time to find form. If the need for cover was not so great, I am sure we would still be considering winger options. Signing players early is not always an indication that we moved heaven and earth to land to the top target, sometimes it just means we are a bit anxious.

Spikeys…
I missed every game of this comp – it just doesnt interest me at all.
Still, I’m sure the scotch meeja will find a way to big up their blue heroes, even tho they wereny in it !
PS: Did you read about the Antoinette Lattouf sacking case here in Aus ? She won her court case for unfair dismissal just for sharing a factual Human Rights Watch post, as the lobby campaigned for her dismissal.
And here is the thing, the self-same self described IDF will not even allow the BBC to report from Gaza. And as such the BBC, with no reporters on the ground is unable (unwilling?) to describe the actions of the IDF as ‘genocide’.
And yet now the PM, Lisa Mandy, and OfCom are now attacking the BBC for showing Glastonbury (absent Kneecap) live on any of its’ channels, including Bob Vylan, whilst Radio 4, on the World at One today, stated that given the IDF is an occupying Army Bob Vylan could not be accused of ‘antisemitism’ in taking the position it did on the stage this past weekend.
Outside Broadcasting House in London there is a statue of George Orwell, unveiled only in 2017, beside which the inscripition reads;
“If liberty means anything at all it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear”
Right now it is about what the BBC, and the British government, and the media, and OfCom do not want to hear…..
From Bob Vylan live….

Cheers Mate.
I will be busy for the next week, as I will be busy ” Patting myself on the back”, for TIPPING an ODDS ON WINNER at the Horse Racing yesterday.
It SHOULD be NOTED that I tipped this winner on here hours BEFORE the Race !
I am such a clever Bhoy.
I hope that someone had £500 on it ?

Watched it Spikey. Usual patch up job like watching the Davinci code with some liberal mockumentary type interpretation of what not really happening. Not sure if you are saying that Jews are a death cult but your flegs, slogans, selfies, purchases of music and one sided hatred will not help Palestinian children one bit. They even talked about “other systems of government” not uk, Europe or US. I take it we are talking china Russia North Korea Afghanistan Iran. How about Hamas system of government releasing the last 50 live or dead bodies and really putting on the pressure for Israel to end the war. Palestinians have a right to armed resistance but Israeli “occupiers” have no right to defend themselves. What part of the real world do you live in. You are entertaining yourself but not helping Palestinian children.
It should be noted that we will play our first season defining game on August 19th or 20th and the return a week later.
This is the concern . We need to be ready.
The consequences of failure should be self explanatory.

Extreme weather during the Club World Cup in the United States this summer means Fifa should think about playing the men’s World Cup final at 9am next year, according to an expert.
Professor Mike Tipton of Portsmouth University, a leading specialist on the effect of extreme temperature on the human body, was asked by BBC Sport how football’s governing body should handle a heatwave at next year’s tournament.
Like many, Tipton has been struck by the brutal conditions that players have been exposed to in some matches at the Club World Cup in the US, and which have underlined the potential threat facing Fifa’s 2026 showpiece when it returns to the same country at the same time of year.
Last week brought the summer’s first major heatwave descend on eastern North America, with dozens of people needing hospital treatment for heat-related illnesses. In New York on 24 June, for instance, the temperature rocketed to 39C – a record for June.
CLASSIC CELTIC: BIG SHOT NAKAMURA (Part 9)
By CQN Magazine on 1st July 2025 Exclusive Series
CELTIC 1 MANCHESTER UNITED 0 November 11 2006
EDWIN VAN DER SAR, the 6ft 6in keeper of Manchester United, couldn’t say he hadn’t been warned.
Shunsuke Nakamura had left the skyscraper Dutchman befuddled with a glorious free-kick at Old Trafford on the evening of September 13 2006. Unfortunately, Gordon Strachan’s side lost 3-2.
The return match against Sir Alex Ferguson’s side was played in front of 60,632 spectators at Parkhead the following month.
It was goalless until the 81st minute when the lavishly-gifted Japanese playmaker lined up to take a free-kick from 35 yards. The beanpole United custodian stood on guard as Nakamura ambled forward to take his kick. The ball exploded from his left boot with an almighty swoosh and arrowed straight into the startled keeper’s top left-hand corner.
In the fading moments, United were awarded a penalty-kick, but they were denied an equaliser when Artur Boruc plunged to his right to beat away Louis Saha’s drive.
The triumph carried Celtic through to the Champions League knock-out stages for the first time.

Good morning all.
Spikeys sounds like St Convals was one middle aged Polish man, perhaps mental health, no conspiracy. We don’t need to blame the IDF or orangemen. There are very good masons in my wee toon, good people. My dad was often invited to the lodge because of his responsibilities in the knights of St Columba. Plenty of good people, and bigots, in both organisations. The old man lived in a different age when there was more respect for a difference of opinion and far fewer rabbit holes. Sad for the families impacted and sad for this man’s state of mind. May he find peace and the stones get recarved.
Besiktas have submitted an initial offer ranging from £8.5m to £10.3m for 23-year-old Rangers and Ivory Coast midfielder Mohamed Diomande. (Fussball Europa)
Above from BBC Scotland Football Gossip page
In what world would the buying club tell the selling club that while they will offer £8.5m for a player they would be willing to pay £10.3?!
Just give us the £10.3m then says the selling club!!

Read an article on Facebook there concerning barry Robson tough as teak and just what is sorely missing in our team / midfield . Brendan said we need to be more physical , if he has sole say on signings , the a hardman midfielder is a must .
Politicians eh?

The same everywhere.
Masters of the grubby deal that allows them to stay in the game.
“In the meantime the deputy PM will serve as the country’s acting leader. Paetongtarn (the current PM), however, will remain in the cabinet as culture minister, a new appointment following a cabinet reshuffle that was endorsed hours before she was suspended”
Thank you Greg

Spikeys I am very far from being a Zionist. Peace came in Northern Ireland when normal people rejected the extremists in the IRA and UdF who became thugs. Reject Zionists and Hamas for the sake of the mothers and children of Palestinians and Jews.
