Squad fitness, incongruous Dundee

60

Dundee were humiliated 0-6 at home to Hearts on Saturday, a result which saw the Tynecastle club move to within a point of the top six, and leaves Dundee just above the relegation playoff spot.  They are in trouble, despite two derby wins (Dundee United and St Johnstone) and two draws (Celtic and Newco) in their last four games.

That form is incongruous, but what we know is that they will arrive at Celtic Park fighting for their pay packet next season, with a justifiable sense they can get at us.

Tonight’s game against Dundee is the first of four consecutive home matches for Celtic, with Raith in the Scottish Cup on Saturday, Bayern Munich on Wednesday and Dundee United the following weekend.  The domestic games all look straightforward and should see us progress towards silverware at the end of the season.

Brendan Rodgers’ principle job will be to maintain energy levels in the squad.  Daizen Maeda can be expected to play all 90 minutes as he will sit out the Bayern game in a week’s time. With Jota expected to play an important role against Harry Kene’s club, this will be his final chance to build up match fitness before the Champions League game.

Hearts eased through the game on Saturday by scoring twice early on.  Dundee heads dropped and Neil Critchley was able to guide his side through the afternoon.  An equally bright start from Celtic tonight would be welcome.

Bought my tickets for Bayern game last week, £92 plus £3 to activate our two tickets, the club doesn’t miss a trick 🤑

sb only for the 19 league games now.

no friendlies, no early league cup, so 2 matches less than only 5 years ago.

but, they have 2 more chamions league home games between league and the play off (well done for getting there for sure), but these games are the richest home gates in our history.

a sell out bayern game. will generate £3m income.

we are paying too much for all our football games.

the plc is greedy, transaction fees for something that is generated by our inputs, a bloody racket.

  2. Has there been any update on the progress of James Forrest’s return form injury? He seems to have disappeared since well before Christmas?

i have to assume this time, the away team will take up all their allocation, the full south east corenr, the front east stand and that sponsors/uefa will be at their maximum fac=cats allowance take ups, with all the lounges and boxes rammed.

i caught up with all the weekend football, and todays interviews with those two managers.

howe is a bore, intelligent sure, but a bore none the less. i am glad he is not manager of celtic,

arteta, that worst of things, an actual sore winner, beats city 5-1, embraces his mentor, and then unsmiling complains about things, torn faced and a spitter, his hold over KT is just a strange one for me, with all that talent available to him.

i cant remember who the other semi final is with but, i hope these two get beat.

    right paradise awaits, aff oot.
