We seldom see squad management in action just as starkly as the have over the last week. Brendan Rodgers rested players in each of our last two games. We banked six points and the manager will consider it a productive exercise. David Turnbull opened the scoring in both games, James Forrest, Luis Palma and Oh all scored, while Kyogo and Cameron Carter-Vickers each missed out on a starting line-up.
Odin Holm came back into the team, Tony Ralston returned to the scene in Dingwall, while Yang made an impactful appearance on the bench against St Mirren, rewarded with a starting place at Ross County. The only two outfield players who were not rested for a minute were Liam Scales and Greg Taylor, an indication of their importance to the team during this period.
Oh desperately needed gametime and a goal, he scored a second across the two games, but the effort was ruled out by a ridiculous VAR decision. If we were not ahead and so much better than the rest, the VAR situation would be a real worry.
Brendan’s primary objective would be to keep as much energy in the legs as possible ahead of tomorrow’s game in Madrid, where Atletico have the advantage of playing their most recent game on Friday, two days before Celtic were in action.
The secondary objective could be even more important to the season. Oh, Holm, Paulo Bernardo, Yang and others all need to develop as Celtic players. We will need to lean on them to get the job done.

No surprise that Dickinson has previous……
What was the excuse the SFA came up with when Jota was ruled off-side? Dickinson should be sine died now.

Averages a penalty against them once every 41 games domestically

Weeron.
I wont hold my breath waiting on the cowards on our board saying anything about VAR.
kggk
As far as I am aware this is the first week. Re Dan Roodgers has expressed a concern re the officiating at our matches. Specifically about Saturday.
Surely if he has not had any complaints to date then expecting our board to wade into a football matter on his behalf would seem to be wrong at this juncture ?
Brendan Rodgers not Dan Roogers lol
Obviously quite a few never watch EPL games. The VAR in England aint any better than the crap we have in Scotland.Only difference, much more expensive, still the same ridiculous decisions. What I dont know is if it favours any particular teams.
How can Rugby get it so right?
TURKEYBHOY,
Maybe the difference between us and the EPL is that we DO know VAR favours a particular team.
From videocelts, I was unaware of this stat:
“Over the last 16 years Willie Collum is the only SFA referee to be invited to a major Championship, after handling two group stage matches he was in the first batch of referees sent home”
Dickinson again…..

TURKEYBHOY
Q.How can Rugby get it so right? (Shinin bright)
A.1 its a different sport, with comparisons only at international level as elswhere more people watch Pollok juniors weekly
A.2 it is a game more prone to stop starts.
A.3 The referee is respected and applies the rules
A.4 Having a home in Lanarkshire is not a positive in the Global rugby arena.:-)
A.5 No one in rugby frets how you pumped a goat,or were the recipient, the pumpee and all the biases leaking out thereof see A3
You all know the reason Celtic don’t complain about being cheated.10 out of the last 11,Leagues,5 points ahead in this one.Quadruple Treble, and a couple of Doubles.
The Media would have a ball.We would be ridiculed. The laughter from around the other clubs fans would be raucous. We would look ridiculous to an outsider looking in.
But hey,who cares,we want complaints sent out.SFA,Joe Biden,The Pope,NATO,Salvation Army,Alcoholics Anonymous,RAC,Flat Earth Society, that will do to get the world noticing these blatant injustices.
Well,CQN thinks so.

The Celtic FC board has been cauvht lying…
https://www.glasgowworld.com/sport/football/celtic/glasgow-council-safety-advisory-group-respond-to-celtic-statement-on-fan-stadium-suspension-4399103
Not once, not twice…
That nonsense came straight out of the tory handbook.
Peter Lawwell, what have you done?
AT,
The use of VAR in Rugby,be it only Internationals,is fantastic.

Check out Beaton’s face when Turnbull equalized v St Mirren….
Ok I checked it out. Nothing wrong with the look on his face. We rightly mock an official for looking pleased at a Rangers goal, then complain about a referee not celebrating a Celtic goal. We can’t have it both ways.
Big Peter lying again.Even though he never said a word.Bassa has got this lying down to a fine art.Guess what,I think he should be called” Liewell”(,titter, titter),how original is that?
My Tablet likes lying, bless it.Won’t be told.
Happy Birthday Celtic. Just remembering that my granny went to St Mary’s Abercrombie St to be baptised. She was probably fed at Bro Walfrid’s table. Wish I had known the Celtic history when I was young then I could have asked if it was true that she went to the table. She certainly was in the parish school.

Still has the face of a human crossed with a farmyard animal!
Imo, Beaton looks decidedly sick to his back teeth when Turnbull scored.
TURKEYBHOY on 6TH NOVEMBER 2023 8:01 PM
You are absolutely spot on Turkeybhoy. Before you go public you must be one hundred per cent certain that your case is cast iron. A perceived injustice is never sufficient where Celtic is concerned. In Scotland any doubts raised as to the honesty of officials are invitations to ridicule and allegations of insanity. look at what happened to Allan McDonald after the Dallas ‘Shame Game’.
Bob Kelly took on the SFA and won over the flag and Sir George Graham. Unless I’m very much mistaken a not universally popular Celtic Board figure was instrumental in the Hugh Dallas resignation.
Yes, it’s absolutely correct to call out corruption. But for the Board to become involved in every perceived malpractice would make us a laughing stock. Best for them to keep their powder dry until the opportunity presents itself. Then nail them.
I have the Spurs Chelsea game on while working from my study – VAR – the machines are taking over!!
Texastim
After Son’s goal was chopped off Spurs lost the plot. Games mental…..
Re Spurs game – if they gave penalties and red cards for that 40 years ago most games would have lasted 20 minutes. Utter nonsense. Never a red or a penalty.
12 minutes of added time at half time.
VAR making millions for millionaires

Cheers BB.
This is the stat to share far and wide.
The key here is how far ahead Sevco are of any other club in Europe.
Sevco top the table with 41.67
Then a Himalayan drop to a clump of eleven teams … between 6.59 & 12.50 !!!!
Absolutely embarrassing and inexplicable statistic.
Sterling makes John McDonald look honest
“Domestic penalties” also don’t tell the full story.
Two of their last three were in the cup.
One to a lower league team (which the ref levelled up ridiculously) and another meaningless award late in a game that was in the bag.
BackToBasics
Exactly
ive said several times over the years on here that Sterling is the biggest cheat in English football, but the English pundits only give his cheating token lip service.
If a foreigner carried on the way he does they would be hounded out of their country by the pundits and press
Carragher says at half time re the red card – I would have made that challenge 20 years ago but those days are over – when did they change all the rules? I must have been sleeping. There were stronger challenges when my young lass played girls under 14’s
