As a guy who has always thought there was a decent player in Mikey Johnston I’m chuffed for him. What he needs now is to keep fit and some consistency, He could be a good addition to the pool.
As an auld guy I just wish some of our supporters would stop the undermining insults thrown at some Celtic players, constructive criticism by all means but some of the over the top negative criticism of individual players is out of order.
1st half today was a collective bxlls up from the whole team, 2nd half a big improvement. Our defending at corner kicks is becoming a joke, in the last two League games we have lost two ridiculous goals and could have lost a 2nd today at 2-1. loading our six yard box with our own players is counter productive by putting Hart under more pressure, we should leave the way clear for Hart to come and get the ball within his 6 yard box. If he isn’t willing to command his box then we need a new keeper.
Maybe we should take a look at the St Johnstone keeper in January.

A great example of co-existing truths.
1. We were awful;
2. We had some great moments late in the game.
These comments are both true.
At a time when a large portion of Celtic supporters appear to hate James Forrest….he has shown you/me/us that he is still a good footballer who will do his level best as long as he is at our club.
On his goal….he was the one, in his own box, facing his goal, who cleared the ball out of a hectic penalty box. Then turned and ran (like any Forrest should) and, 80 yards later, put the ball in the net.
Yes, these games can be stressful, but don’t miss the special moments. They are out there.
Cheers,
Weeron
Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on
If I’ve been caught up watching the action I tend to wait until we’ll after full time for a read back.
I always enjoy the read back even if I disagree with some of what is said and how it is said.
IMHO, anger and frustration at that first half performance is fully understandable.
Last 35 minutes of it were poor.
But when anger and frustration is accompanied by arrogance, ignorance, spite, resentment ….
…. plus constant pathetic driving of agendas?
Not to mention a lack of faith we supposedly keep.
Hmm.
Quite brilliant strikes from Calum, Matt and James.
Sometimes, when the process fails, you have to rely on individual quality.
Celtic looked jet lagged in the first 45 minutes against a Saints side who lined up like Hearts did, in Brendan Rodgers first spell as manager.
Our samish line up, wasn’t helped at all, by anyone from the summer window but deflecting bidding for Matt O’Riley with a new contract was good business by Celtic, and is paying off in spades, scoring regularly also with his swinger. Callum after his poor spell of misfiring (but never invisible) scored a peach, new contract in his back pooch, he steered us over the line.
It was left to the old guard as ineffectual performances punctuated the side from the start, Kyogo still off the boil chipped in with his assist, but it was Oh, Mikey Johnston and James Forrest that turned, then sealed the points which head back down the motorway from the gateway to the Highlands, and Hibs in Parkhead.

Well, got there in the end!
Wee bit of a flashback to Kilmarnock away early in the 96-97 season.
Need to be playing at a higher tempo right from the start. And need to be keeping more clean sheets.

Too early to damn Yang for me.
Young guy in a new country for four months.
Needs time and minutes to get confidence up.
MJ been through the system and around first team for four or five years and finds the step up difficult.
He turned the game for us today, but, as BR said in his interview , he still needs to learn how to play in the team. Same could be said for Yang.
In an ideal world, Maeda, Abada, Palma , Jamesie would be our wingers with MJ, Yang and Tilio getting game time as subs with a view to making more of a contribution in the second half of the season.
Need to be patient with the young players.

GGHamstring – I admire your thinking, but Yang is as obvious to me as Bernabei and Kobyashi. You could see straight away they had no chance of becoming Celtic players.

I am very happy I’m being proved wrong. For years I’ve thought he has had loads of skill but no football brain- he hasn’t known that making half a yard and passing/crossing is what wins games rather than beating someone then thinking ‘stuff it I’ll take the lot of the bassas on’!
This could be the second player BR makes a staggering difference to -LS being the other.
A very, very, very important win today and three great goals to earn the three points. However, we won’t get away with that first sixty minute performance too much longer. We need to pass quicker, take fewer touches and up our tempo to see these teams off comfortably. Well done Brendan and The Bhoys.
Incidentally, I hope we keep Mikey Johnston.

I might be in the minority here but I hope we do not sign anybody in the January window, we have enough players to push on through to the end of the season. We’re paying them, might as well give some of them some game time. Or can you ‘develop’ players without actually playing them?

How can Glasgow have a statue in the middle of its main square to Valter Scott when the wee chancer never went there.
Today it was the day of Rob Roy McGregor rather than The Fair Maid Of Perth.
Never in doubt, eh !!!!!!!!!!!!
What a monumental change in the second half, maybe some players are too much in the comfort zone and even a bit arrogant, don’t know.
Still, 3 points

Hart was bundled without question, but he seemingly didn’t merit a free kick because ‘he was weak’ ©️ Mark Wilson, an Andy Walker wannabe. In any case, Hart made a crucial save which not only ensured the win, it compounded it in the breakaway with a trademark, outside of the right boot James Forrest goal.
