Mikey Johnson is a player who definitely has the ability. A coach like Rodgers must be able to bring the best out in him. I’d love to see Mikey push on from here….and partly to silence the over the top critics.

Easier said than done methinks. Maybe some loaned out if possible.
No point in bringing any more projects half way through the season.

Wee bit disappointing that we cannot even develop one of our own young players.
The manager’s comments on MJ were interesting. They suggest his issues are not related to his technical ability.

And dispiriting for them.

In 2010 NFL stated that football Academies were failing youngsters. We once had a conveyor belt of great young Scottish players. World class players.
Celtic nurtured, trained, coached and developed them, without the ” world class facilities ”
It is now 13 years since Neil made these remarks. We are taking young projects from all over the world knowing not all of them will make it. Take today’s team selection for example.
We need a rethink.

if folk ate saying we need to play mikey on wednesday because he is better than Yang then i suggest we should be signing a player in january that is better than both of them
We have nowhere to develop our young talent they don’t play against quality players the Lowland League is no use.No Reserve League in Scotland is a disgrace we have squad players who don’t play for weeks or months and we expect them to play when they finally get a chance in the first team. With the money we have wasted on projects we could have bought club in the lower leagues in either Scotland or England we need to do something different. Hail Hail stpatricksbhoy
Hope this makes it on here through the ad blizzard that remains after I have successfully x’d half a dozen of them.
Superbru Round 15 update
Congratulations to the 15 punters who got the score from Perth exactly right (I got the 3 goals right but foolishly thought we might keep a clean sheet)
Anyway the top 3 this week were:-
1. Raplochbus-10 points
2. Hot Smoked- 9.5 pts
3. BC Milan- 9 pts
Excluding wee BGFC, those whose predictions lasted less long than Todd Cantrell were:-
The Token Tim – 1.5 pts, who, taking one for the team, spared the blushes of Garry Postecoglou, McKenna_88, Hutchybhoy, Gutenberg, Belmont Brian63 and Kolncelt who all scored 2.5, one point more than the Carfin Cassandra.
This leaves the overall score as :-
Top3-
1. BC Milan- 90.5 pts
2. Leggy- 88.5 pts
3. Billy Bhoy- 85 pts
These 3 are opening a small gap between other Top 10 predictors but there are a lot of December matches before we announce our first set of winners. at the end of the month.
Among the more unlikely winners, we have our “lead in the water” group:-
1. Friesdorfer- 47 pts
2= TheLurkinTim, Belmont Brian 63 and Cosy Corner Bhoy- all on 49.5 pts
These boys are determined to never knowingly predict a Sevco win and are prepared to suffer for their principles. Fair play to them.
We have a quick turnaround this week with an evening game in Dingwall on Tuesday evening- 7.45 pm kick off , with 4 more games on Wed. night when Celtic are at home to Hibs while Sevco and Hearts battle it out for 2nd spot in the league.
Tx for your support.

I agree with you re Academies, modern day equivalent of the Boulevard of Broken Dreams.
If, collectively, professional football signs up thousands of very young players, chances are some of them will eventually make it through. (Messi) The vast majority won’t though, and will end up on the football equivalent of the scrapheap. Not unlike the GDR model times gone by. The factory
No, there has to be a better way. I’m of the belief that you teach yourself how to play football, (Jimmy Johnstone) and later learn how to play team football. Not eleven a side on a full size pitch a la Scotland and England but progressively over time, based on a love for the game, the now, not an inherent anxiety about the future.

Stopped watching Ange’s team at half-time to go for dinner.
Jeezo it finished 3-3.
When I switched off it looked like his team were in for a hiding.
We witnessed a team captain at the top of his game today. He took the game by the scruff of the neck and imposed himself on it. He was much more forceful today than he has been for the last two months. A tremendous, mature, articulate Captain of our beloved Club.
Take a bow Callum!

Well done to Callum MacGregor today….a real captain’s performance in the 2nd half.
Daft observation, I know, but Kyogo must be the only player in football history to play 100 odd games and score 50 odd goals for one club and yet never hit the woodwork in all these games.

“That’s probably the angriest I’ve ever been at half time as my time as a manager. We were nowhere near it. The second half, there’s much more energy and tempo. Some players want to be too comfortable and just do enough and that isn’t good enough for a club like this. Mikey was good, if he can improve his tactical idea in the game, his pressing and his understanding of where he has to be then you can see the talent he has. He was bright today, positive and made a contribution for us. The standards at this club are high, I said to them at half time, with the greatest of respect to St Johnstone but we’ve went a game and a half against them and we haven’t scored. But we got better in the second half and we had to be.” – Brendan Rodgers.

We scored 3 tremendous goals. Things of beauty.
Take a look at the St Mirren player tracking C*ntwell for the Huns’ first goal. I find it bewildering he will still be employed tomorrow as a professional footballer/athlete. Absolutely pathetic.
Alas, it seems likely Barry Robson will lose his job before Naismith.
