I thought Brendan’s comments about wanting 4 quality players in the summer coming on the back of another euro defeat was a high risk strategy. You’re telling a lot of players they aren’t good enough when their heads are full of noise about his poor we are already.

Good point , wording is important , if he said more quality in , the players don’t take it so much to heart .
Although it should be a given that he wants quality in not mediocrity . Let’s hope the people it was aimed at get the message.

Good Morning Fholks – Grand Day To Be A Tim,
After as poor a first half as you’ll see, the Rodgers Rocket sent a message and got a response.
Hopefully a corner turned.
Calmac, O’Riley stepping up and winning the game, James Forrest showing experience, composure, technique to put the icing on the cake.
Mikey and The Big Oh coming on and making a difference, those two and Iwata – gave the Manager serious questions, which eleven starts on Wednesday?
What about Jobo’s player of the year!?
Does first half lackadaisical approach strike out a vote for those involved and lead the super subs taking the plaudits?
Does Calmac and O’Riley’s sublime response let them play a get out of gaol card?
Well, maybe unfair on James Forrest who was excellent, but that second half Captain’s performance by Calmac was great to see, hopefully we see a regular contribution now.
Forrest and Iwata did very well, especially linking up for the last goal, yet weren’t on long enough to warrant a vote – that said, Iwata must have put a marker down to start on Wednesday.
Good morning all from Govanhill. Another week of fun and frolics starts now!👍

Struggling to remember what exactly Iwata has done wrong ? Curious he starts Turnbull / Holm / Bernardo before Iwata. I realise it is horses for courses and Iwata is more a defensive mid but he is def not getting minutes to prove himself. Nor is Bernardo though. It’s a tricky one.

Anyone wanting a moan re them playing ahead of us and leaving us playing catch up should note that this weekend will be the only set of fixtures between now and 2nd January when that happens.
As well as them playing catch up with their league cup games before we go to St Mirren at 5pm on the 2nd Jan, we actually will have had 7 sets of games where on only 1 occasion they play before us.
Even on Wednesday night this week we are 15 mins ahead of them.

BURNLEY78 @ 8:45 AM,
It’s interesting that the Manager has trusted Bernardo more in the European matches and Turnbull in the SPL.
Horses for courses as you say.
Holm is an odd one, bag’s of potential for sure but has he had a good game?
So yes, Iwata seems more settled now, has definitely got the experience and Calmac is wasted at No6.
So, if we are sticking with three in midfield how about
Calmac…..Iwata……O’Riley
Solid enough, creative enough.

I for one is keeping my thoughts to myself on some of our players, most importantly we have a league to win and cup games etc ,we have a group of good players some who need more game time ,I believe yesterdays team isn’t the best eleven ,Rodger’s proved that yesterday when he made changes at half time ,
Was out doing family things all day yesterday so sat down to read back in the afterglow (or so I thought) of a hard earned victory. Then I came across this comment from, I’m assuming, a supporter of my great club.
“Mortifying goal to concede. Even worse than Motherwell last week. Time to melt Joe Hart down for glue.”
I don’t think I have ever, ever come across such a crass comment.

Paulo Bernardo definitely a gifted player, great feet, and he can tackle. BR says he picked him for CL games ‘to win the ball’ . It’s glaring when he gets left out after a CL game in preference to Turnbull or Holm but BR might think that there’s less need for a ball winning tackler in domestic games?
The acidity and the Premier League type game is now of course the only show in town, so I’d expect with games coming thick and fast Bernardo is about to be more tested. Iwata has edged closer to a game, giving us an idea of how inflated the squad may be, with four players chasing for Hatate’s shirt and nobody is winning.

Emotions run high with Celtic. Some posts can be made in haste and then regretted in the cold light of day.
Don’t take them too seriously.

The comment about melting Hart down was kind of typical of the kind of comment you might see on FollowFollow ….. sadly the agenda ridden dross and desperations for someone or something to blame and be angry with seems to triumph over rational thought these days.

I thought Brendan looked as though he was not even concerned in the first half. He showed no emotion and his communication with the team on the park seemed minimal.
It was something I commented on to my son. It was almost as if he wasn’t interested.
Hence when he said he was angry it seemed odd. I am glad he was but to be honest publicly saying players are not good enough is not helping in my view. Especially younger players. I know for a fact he did damage first time around in that regard.
Regardless about moaning about not having the quality with his resources he should be able to put a team out to beat St Johnstone Motherwell Hibs etc.

Burnley 78,
Firstly, great to see you ( and your son ) attending the game. Fans like yourselves who make the cost, time and effort must be the clubs priority.
I don’t go on to FF so I would know what they spout on there. However I can imagine.
I agree with you that BR publicly stating we need more quality can be counterproductive as far as the existing players are concerned.
We knew how a Craig Levein side would line up. Its no surprise he started with no recognised striker. He is part of what is wrong with Scottish football.
However we should have enough in our side to not make an average St Johnstone team ( 1 point off bottom) look good.
I note BR went out of his way to praise Callum McGregor. Why ?
Callum was part of the problem in the first 60 minutes with pointing, back and side passing. In essence BR stated he performed as a captain for 30 minutes.
My views on our youth progression are well documented on here and I feel this is where our problems stem from.
Cheers and HH.

I’d say you run a real risk of choking off all your key revenue streams – fan spend, ECL income, player sales for profit.

Ach – I wanted to shut up until tomorrow about the goal we conceded … but I can’t help myself.
The side of pitch camera angles show the problem clearly.
Greg Taylor’s starting position at the second ball is approximately 1.5m in front of the goal line.
When the jostling is complete he is 0.5m behind the goal line.
He is effortlessly bullied into the space (and beyond) that Joe Hart is trying to occupy.
Get to the gym son (like Dedryk did).
I’ve personally lost patience with his almost absolute lack of power or physicality.

Back to Basics
If you were playing against us you would target Taylor’s lack of height and Physicality.
You would also try to put crosses in to about 8 yards out so that Hart won’t come or will
be indecisive if he does. Most of us moaners were looking for a new LB & GK in the summer.
I haven’t seen anything so far to change my mind.
