  1. Celtic perhaps never showed their class today.

However the did show their mental toughness and will to win.

The whole defence played brilliant for me against a motivated team who wanted it badly on a farmers field.

That was a superb result and perfotmance for me.

Neil Lennon is everything Steven Gerrard isnt.

  2. Forget about progress to beyond quarter finals of European tournaments at the moment, let us get into one or other league stage and knockout stage but win every domestic competition for this season and next to sicken the hun-minded Scottish media. Then let us have an assault on Europe. We ought to have many more millions to attract classier players.

Bobby Madden has more game management experience than most EPL head coaches.

  4. The pitch today was appalling and a leveller of sorts. We upped it in the second half and deservedly scored. On the balance of play and chances, we deserved to progress. Bitton was excellent i thought as was Jullien. Rogic made a difference too.

It was all about getting to Hampden where we should be confident.

  5. Great to go through to the next round. Hard fought victory, onwards to wednesday now which will again be another hard game.

If we are gonna be going with 3 at the back long term we will need to sign at least 1 quality left sided centreback for next season, a box to box central midfielder and a proper left sided wingback and we should try to secure foster on a long term deal.

We will need to replace any first teamers I.e. ajer, ntcham, edouard etc. who wanna go and don’t sign up longer term.

The amount of players coming to the end of their contract, the number of loans we have and the quality of our key players of interest to others I.e edoard, ntcham should allow us to reshape the team without adding to the wage bill.

  6. Sometimes you can showboat & just play teams off the park. Other times you have to dig deep & scrap for everything.

Today was a noble win, we showed great heart & pride.

I have rarely felt prouder of my team than I do right now.

  8. SUNDAY 1ST MAY 1981

I am standing on the threshold of another trembling world. May God have mercy on my soul.

My heart is very sore because I know that I have broken my poor mother’s heart, and my home is struck with unbearable anxiety. But I have considered all the arguments and tried every means to avoid what has become the unavoidable: it has been forced upon me and my comrades by four-and-a-half years of stark inhumanity.

I am a political prisoner. I am a political prisoner because I am a casualty of a perennial war that is being fought between the oppressed Irish people and an alien, oppressive, unwanted regime that refuses to withdraw from our land.

I believe and stand by the God-given right of the Irish nation to sovereign independence, and the right of any Irishman or woman to assert this right in armed revolution. That is why I am incarcerated, naked and tortured.

Foremost in my tortured mind is the thought that there can never be peace in Ireland until the foreign, oppressive British presence is removed, leaving all the Irish people as a unit to control their own affairs and determine their own destinies as a sovereign people, free in mind and body, separate and distinct physically, culturally and economically.

I believe I am but another of those wretched Irishmen born of a risen generation with a deeply rooted and unquenchable desire for freedom. I am dying not just to attempt to end the barbarity of H-Block, or to gain the rightful recognition of a political prisoner, but primarily because what is lost in here is lost for the Republic and those wretched oppressed whom I am deeply proud to know as the ‘risen people’.

There is no sensation today, no novelty that October 27th brought. (The starting date of the original seven man hunger-strike) The usual Screws were not working. The slobbers and would-be despots no doubt will be back again tomorrow, bright and early.

I wrote some more notes to the girls in Armagh today. There is so much I would like to say about them, about their courage, determination and unquenchable spirit of resistance. They are to be what Countess Markievicz, Anne Devlin, Mary Ann McCracken, Marie MacSwiney, Betsy Gray, and those other Irish heroines are to us all. And, of course, I think of Ann Parker, Laura Crawford, Rosemary Bleakeley, and I’m ashamed to say I cannot remember all their sacred names.

Mass was solemn, the lads as ever brilliant. I ate the statutory weekly bit of fruit last night. As fate had it, it was an orange, and the final irony, it was bitter. The food is being left at the door. My portions, as expected, are quite larger than usual, or those which my cell-mate Malachy is getting.

  9. An awful pitch, a team of cloggers and a biased referee couldn’t dent the quadruple treble aspirations of Scotland’s finest!

    A very significant result.

  16. When I got into the ground before kick off I couldn’t believe that the game was going ahead as the pitch looked shocking.

Ended up being a great cup tie and reminded me of cup ties years ago. Front 2 were poor today. Thought Julien and Broony were great.

Didn’t understandably the Hayes for Taylor substitution as I thought Taylor played well.

  17. Strong, strrrrrrrrong………………. rumours………………………………….. that the “dark-haired” kit-man……..has befouled the ( de-branded) trackies…………

    Well played Celtic

Don’t think playing on plastic is any worse than playing on that 70’s retro pitch today

Looking at Ryan’s goal- very very like Naka’s at Rugby Park to win the league back in the day?

  20. Not read back but ohhhhhhhhhhh we are Glasgow Celtic ohhhhhh

    Love it

  21. St Tams – I think Taylor as blowing out his arse.

Neither hundit on Sportscene could actually say the words ‘it was a penalty’ in theHearts game – Thompson comes up with its was an interesting final minute’!

  24. Let’s all have a quiet moment for poor Bobby Madhun the Ref, he done his best to make sure those Fenian bassas did not progress but alas we oops they prevailed. 😂😂😂 GIRFUY

  25. The Onlooker on

McFadden and Thomson on Sportscene debated the goal. Thomson ‘taking’ it off Julienne and crediting it to Christie…. after analysing it from every angle!

Ignoring the fact that it was already clarified in their own post match interview with Christie which was shown before the studio numpty discussion

    ” Ryan ,who’s goal was it? ”

” I’m taking this one, big Julienne came up to me and said he didn’t get a touch on it, he’s honest enough to give it to me ..”

  26. GREAT result, but IMO a great game/cup tie (obviously not great game of football!) I just love watching us play fast, skillful football, but sometimes a blood-and-snotters game from the past gets the blood curling. And our bhoys were WELL up for it. Since he arrived I’ve been really pleased with big Jullien, but had thought that for such a big guy he maybe lacked a wee bit in the combative stakes. Well today laid that one to rest. I really loved the wee scene after a corner (or might have been a free kick) that ended up going out for a corner to the Bhoys. Big Christopher and a large St Johnstone chap had their arms around each other laughing at the battling taking place between them – great stuff, the way men play the game. Thought the game was largely played in the right, cup-tie spirit by both teams, except of course the utter assault on Jamsey which was the clearest red card this side of the Pecos.
