Heeeeeeeeyyyyy Mr Vegas! Win the treble Brendan and bugger off Cos the treble is not good enough for us is it? I mean if we can only win another treble but can’t beat the last place team what good are ye’?

    Jesus wept!

  2. My sincerest apologises to the lad that came out with my favourite all time CQN one liner – ‘the treble is papering over the cracks’.

I’ve seen the very best of Celtic sides switch off in similar circumstances so I’ll not be losing any sleep tonight.

I’ll admit that come next weekend, I’ll be in the unusual position of wanting to see the Rangers take something from Pittodrie so we can win this league on the pitch. There are worse problems to have for football fans.

Been out all day and just got home to find out the score , with only the comments on here to go on .

My observations ; Once you put the tools down, it’s not always a straightforward job to get them back out of the toolbox .

Of course we will win the league and are strong favourites for the cup , but on current form , not one of the remaining games is a foregone conclusion . If we had clinched the league last week then gone out and lost to St . J. today it wouldn’t have raised an eyebrow but we can’t allow our performances to drop prematurely . We’ve only achieved one third of the treble as things stand .

  5. hacked off, but, hey, shit happens.

Gotta say though, if Arne Engels is the answer who knows what the question was. I’d be seriously pissed off if I was Bernardo.

Maybe the guy is so good an subtle an idiot like me would miss it, but he needs dropped or sent back from whence he came.

Poor all round today, but fair play the Saimts

  6. The Huns don’t play Aberdeen until next Sunday .

So we could win the league that day if we beat Kilmarnock on Saturday

  7. Engels….not at his best today but not as bad as some are making out….gives 100% every time I’ve watched him..

Schlupp….not his best today at all….but still think he’d do a job for us

Was crying out for Idah to come on for the ineffectual Kuhn…..Daizen wasn’t allowed by a well trained St Johnstone to run at their goal….Daizen to left wing and Adam through the middle…switch Jota to the right as he was well policed by St Johnstone on the left…

Reo should have been hooked for McCoan after 30 minutes…you just knew it wasn’t going to be his day…

CCV and Trusty….never been convinced with that pairing…and CCV?…..what’s happened to him?…,

  8. Engels, I too would give my all if I was lucky enough, or good enough to play for my beloved CELTIC, but I was crap at footballl, but I’d give my all in any case

  9. Thought the centre back who scored for them looked decent throughout…could be a cheap option…

I get your point…..but at least he gives 100%

Cal Mac another id say worked his bollocks off….the rest?….

No I don’t with regard to him being crap…the boy can play alright…I think you might be just a little TOO upset at today’s score….

Engels will be top class given time…whether that’s with us or somewhere else remains to be seen…

There’s a brilliant quote from Warren Gatland that I periodically trot out on here.

IMHO, it goes right to the heart of creating the “mentality” that Brendan mentions often.

“Be the best at everything that requires no talent”

In that spirit, I’m going to very publicly offer my sagacity to the Celtic coaching staff free of charge.

When a free kick is awarded against you …

(Wait for it, drum roll, prepare to be absolutely astounded)

… er … have one of your players stand right in front of the ball until your team are ready.

  13. Also thought the connection between our full backs and wingers was totally non existent today…

A number of games ago the telepathic and physical connection between Johnstone and Kuhn was a joy to behold….today….meh…

  14. it is worrying when a bottom of the league team has our tactics sussed , as have others , let us have the ball in our own third and leave us to pass the ball slowly sideways and back then repeat , they know we cant score from there and we are wasting our own time , once the ball is finally moved into midfield our captain is marked out of the game and they press and pounce and win the ball against our footballing players who don’t like or relish the dirty side of the game, once they have the ball they only have to lump it up the park between our centre backs who will either panic or give away a needless free kick , rinse and repeat.

  15. Just phoned Brendan there…”Any suggestions?” He asked…..

    “Well Brendan” I said…

“On Saturday, let’s mix it up”….

“Tell Adam to sit on the “D”…with his back to goal…Sutty style….hit the ball up to him the tell him to lay it off to one of our onrushing midfielders, and, if it doesn’t look like that move is on..tell him to hold it and wait for their centre back ploughing through the back of him…jobs a good un”

    “Thanks 3sy”…he said..

    Let’s see what happens…

  16. I’m just back from my great nieces birthday party at Parklands Newton Mearns…

No idea how much a pint of Tennents was but a pint and small diet urn bru was £9.45

Reminiscing back to the mid ‘70s… my friends and I were regulars in The Mitre Bar…just off Argyle St….

As a pre cursor to our intended high jinx at the weekend…we’d always have a night out there on a Thursday evening…pint of Tennents at the time was £0.30p

But…a big Whitbread was also £0.30p..

I reckoned you got one and a quarter pints out of that bottle rather than just a pint…..being the miserable bastard that I am…I bought the Big Whitbreads…more value for money and all that…anyhoo…I could go out on a Thursday night with £2 tucked in my pocket..(wage was £20 a week at the time…minus the £5 dig money I gave to my maw….) so £2 was a lot out of your fun money for a midweek pint…

That £2 got me 6 x Big Whitbreads AND a poke of chips and portion of coleslaw on the way home…..changed days indeed…

  17. Man U v Man City looks like Celtic v Celtic…..

A lot of running about but not much happening…

It has its frontage in the Riverside museum

Ye gods…I never knew that…..I MUST PAY A VISIT…if it’s like it was in the old days I might just stay there…forever…

    Similar goings on in EPL.

Liverpool are spent, but are dragging their carcass to the title.

The rest are worse … so breathing space welcome (and necessary).

BTW – my wife just told me Auston Trusty got married yesterday?

Perhaps explains why they were all off it today?

Think you’ll be disappointed, dry as a witch’s tit

Maybe so…but I’ll still probably shed a tear or two…I’ve lost 3 or 4 of my chums since then…

  22. Firstly, we are not entitled to win anything.

However we have a playing squad valued at >£110m.St Johnstone playing squad is valued circa £7 m..

There is absolutely no need to play trepid one dimensional football against St Johnstone.

We had three stands full of enthusiastic Celtic supporters and we failed to put on a show.

Ive no problem getting beaten, but at least get beaten playing quick, forward entertaining football. Playing with a swing in our step, playing as if we,re desperate to win the big domestic prize.

Ok, the pitch wasn’t the best, but its the same pirch for both teams. We should be able to adapt and if change is necessary, then change it. Why wait for 60 min to change it.

    Well done to St Johnstone

    HH, the journey continues.

  23. I can’t stand Romero of Spurs…the way he refuses to run/jog when he has the ball and insists on walking…usually at a v e r y s l o w p a c e…..as if to say I am too good to have to run…not at all the type of player Ange needs to play “Angeball”…probably foisted upon Ange I’d guess…but…sadly…am I the only one thinking CCV has developed exactly the same trait?….

  24. Celtic/Scottish sport connection on a Sunday night

John Higgins at 8/8 versus Selby in Tour Final on ITV4

And Scotland 0-1 down at the start of the World Curling Final in Ol’ Moose Jaw (not quite Neil Young country but over there somewhere) on BBC Sport website live
