  1. HT St Johnstone 0-0 Celtic

Poor first half from us, perhaps due to the hangover from trip to Italy. Lenny needs to tell the Bhoys to play more short passes and keep possession. Way too many long punts up the park in the first half. St J have not threatened us in any way and look like they will struggle to score, so the game is there for the taking. Need more from James Forrest – he has been annonymous so far. Hooper looks isololated up front and Sammy has reverted to his old form.

One goal will change things – hopefully it will come early

  2. great save by Enkleman !!! credit due !

we need to get IN BEHIND, more

    pace required !

  3. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Fighting the fuzz – respect your views even if I disagree with them.

In terms of potential goalscorers being in the box – please look at the number of Celtic players in the box when a cross comes in from open play (not just this game but all the time).

Usually it is one – rarely more than three.

Compare and contrast with Man Utd – they routinely have 4, 5 & 6 players in there all of whom become potential goal scorers.

As for Scott Brown – you and I are just going to have to disagree.

    Hail Hail

  4. we need pass it across and back across and back across and back MUCH FASTER – Broony needs a kick !

we do that, we’ll make space

    get in behind

    goal

    :)

  5. These crossfield passes are killing us, slows the game down allows oppostition to get back and defend whereas a forward pass is much more effective. We need to up the pace and get the ball out wide, although Forrest has been quite ineffective so far.

  6. The Narrowbhoat Tim on

Mon the Hoops, I’ll take a scrappy 1-0 win for the Bhoys as long as we don’t fall any further back to the Darnel.

Skoosh to get the winner /

Och no, we’re playing okay, we just need to turn the screw a bit. Hooper should have us 2-0 up.

I’m hopeful for the second half

  8. Interesting that the BBC are trying to say Dan should have been sent off whilst not discussing anything to do with the “strange” offside

    They are so impartial eh

  9. BBC suggesting Dan should have been given red card.

For me, he went for the ball and got the ball.

  10. Aye I never knew there was so much mince on a Sunday afternoon.

We might not be great today but we’re a country mile better than St Johnstone.

3 points is the order of the day.

    U

  11. Cannot listen anymore to BBC.Mcleod sounds so disappointed big Dan was not sent off, another uncle tim.Slan

  12. have to disagree with a lot of bhoys about samaras today, thought he was doing well wide left, looked dangerous but then got moved into the middle about the time of mastorovic injury and hasn’t been involved since then.

do agree there was 1 break which he slowed right down when a quick pass would have put us in on goal but before that i thought he looked dangerous. But it’s all about opinions!!!

Celtic tv have classic goals on at half time, just what we need now

    Mon the HOOPS

  13. Don’t think it’s a euro hangover.

seem’s more like the normal cautious approach

We seem obsessed with possession but no emphasis on forward momentum

Coaches need a more positive playing style or we will always struggle

  14. BBC website view:

Clive Lindsay’s HT snapshot: “Celtic have had most of the pressure at McDiarmid Park but have failed to create too many chances against St Johnstone. Saints goalkeeper Peter Enckelman has, though, produced a couple of fine saves to deny Georgios Samaras and Gary Hooper.”

  15. Not working up front because we’re playing 4-3-1-2.

As I said before the game, Forrest isn’t effective enough when played in the pivot role behind the strikers. Play him on the right, Sammi on the left, where their pace and control allow them to come in and take a shot.

  16. Paul McStay, Frank McAv, Jinky, goals on CTV Legends all -Where are OUR heros – none compare to these. Sad now

  19. BBC website showing 9 Celtic attempts compared to St J’s 0

    and 5 corners to 1

Last time I saw something with that much 1 way traffic was St J last time we played them at Paradise :(

  20. So – so far – according to posts

We’ve played too many short passes

    and

    too many long passes?

    We’ve kept too much possession

    and

we’ve given the ball away too much.

    And

We haven’t got the ball to Forrest often enough who’s ineffective when he does get it?

  21. No lads they know he shouldn’t have got sent off it suits their agenda for the phone ins the morra.

Evens themselves out as they say.

  22. For those calling for STokes

    stoksey10 Anthony Stokes

Is there anyway I can watch the game online since it’s not on tv??

  23. Celtic in a dour battle in Perth with St Johnstone set up to play anti football, breaking for scraps or dead ball chances.

After a tough Euro Match this is the last type of game Celtic need, but had Hooper been a bit luckier, the first half would have a fairer scoreline reflection

Celtic to wear them down in the second half, would like to see tactical switch to change the game, if the stalemate continues, and James Forrest has been uninvolved.

    Any win will do.
