  1. DubaiBhoy (nee LondonBhoy) on

Good start to the domestic season.

Craig Gordon will replace Forster just fine.

Berget looked good when he came on didn’t he? Ronny did him a real disservice throwing him in at the deep end in Warsaw but you can see why he’s been brought in. A younger, faster, not quite as silky (yet) version of KC maybe?

My man Derk looked better also. Until the penalty incident.

Dear oh dear. Worst penalty award I’ve seen since Amoruso in Turin. :)

Ah well, onwards and upwards. Keep The Faith.

  2. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

    It’s a start.

Thought Inge Berget did well when he came on.

    Get a striker bought Pedro.

  3. Evening Timland from a hot hun free mountain alley.

    Fair enjoyed that.

Thot Berget looked decent when he came on, Bo is looking like a footballer, wee Jamsey needs games.

Delighted for our new keeper, this we will have won the lotto if he stays fit, oops, we have won the lotto, we have squillions in the bank.

    A striker would be good tho >}

Well done the two Onnies and the bhoys.

  4. McCann is a no mark! Don’t react to the the little tool! No oxygen for him equals no wages! Bzzz! I implore you….please ignore this ignoramus!

  5. Good enough tonight – I’ll give a few negatives:

McCann was right about one thing. 1st half Forrest and McGregor did keep turning inside and running into trouble. Maybe because we don’t have commanding strikers to make wide balls count. So we maybe need them to get to the byeline or cutback

Biton and Johansen are shot shy. Even if you don’t hit them like Rodriguez you have to have some midfielders willing to or else a packed defence can just sit in and wait.

I read a few who thought Biton was good, but I thought he was pretty lethargic and we were losing the midfield before the 2nd goal. Deila I think put on Kayal for Stokes because he did too. We need Brown back badly.

St J clearly think Izzy can be got at. We also weren’t too hot on deep crosses with them challenging Izzy or Matthews.

….but it was OK for a 1st game… I know we can improve.

  6. Re penalty incidents:

didn’t think vvd touched dave mckay, thought he left his leg in,

derk was fouled ergo penalty, although I was expecting and wouldn’t have disagreed with a yellow for diving,

I thought wee Jamesie was back to near his best tonight, good star to the league campaign,

    roll on Saturday,

  7. McCann made a very serious accusation that a Celtic player was a cheat and asked the Review Panel to be involved.

This is from a player who took an EBT which HMRC will prove to have been illegal. Why is Sky is employing a tax cheat …..not surprising after News of the World and all the illegal phone tapping. Their baseline is the gutter.

Celtic need to take action on McCann. Ban him from Paradise until he apologises to the player and fans.

Neil McCann showing the petulance he couldn’t control as a boy playing for St Stephens. Played on the same side as Chris Millers big brother so maybe that is where the antagonism comes from.

    —————

good shout, at a younger level he was maybe the 14th best player in the shammy team.

his big brother eddie was a much better player, and he would never have played for the huns ever.

did you ever see young michael kerr play ? what a player that bhoy was.

  9. Joe Filippis Haircut on

I dont doubt Rony or JC there will be no old pals getting a game it will be based on work rate and skill as it should be.I am looking forward to Saturdays match but do you know something I have no idea what team Rony will put out. H.H.

  10. jude2005 is Neil Lennon \o/ on

Added Sky to my Virgin package today £13 pm no contract Will cancel if we go out of C L.

  11. We’ll done guys. A positive step forward, but plenty to work on.

Defensively St J got too much room in the box on a couple of occasions in the first half, and our retention needs to be far better, but I liked the quicker pace of the game at times. It’s a simple game Celtic, keep the ball moving at speed and make yourself available to receive it. and we can kick on from there.

Looking forward to the game on Saturday, D Utd are probably as good a test as we can hope for going into next weeks game.

It’s sometimes painful, but always good to be a tim.

  12. Latchford

I think he’d love that response.

Laugh and laugh again as he watches us win and win and win.

By January his head will explode at half time

  13. There’s something so enjoyable about McCann’s impotent rage.

I put it down to the pressure of trying to maintain the myth that his old team didnae die, while knowing full well that it did, slowly and painfully.

And fearing that the day will come when Hector will, politely, ask for what is owed to him from the loanees.

    Or else!

  14. Neither incident was a penalty. The thought process with

McCann and Walker is any touch in the box merits a penalty.

With McCann tonight , his judgement is clouded by one team

    wearing Green & White hoops.

Will he show consistency with review panel demands for

similar incidents this season ? ?

    Doubt it.

  15. the glorious balance sheet on

Neil McCann was one of the biggest divers to come out of Scottish football in the last 40 years.

He truly is a snidey wee zombie. Somebody should give him a rotting human arm to chew on to shut him up.

I believe tanner is trying to set up a live video link to the Legia chairman to get his views on the penalty incidents.

    Zombie morons.

  16. Tanners use of the word old firm should have a klaxon going off on sky each time as a reminder. I’d pay double for that !

  17. Tanner and McCann have no authority in football to discuss tactics. They’ve just questioned the 4231 formation used around the world by top clubs and International teams.

“any need to having a two holding players?”

With rotation, yes, that’s how the formation works.

    Plonkers.

Good energy from the Bhoys. HH

  18. Great performance, and here’s why…

The team was clearly low on confidence coming into this one. You could see it in the first half in particular when certain players looked a bit jittery. When this is the case, players must show character to keep at it until they catch a break. That’s exactly what they did, and exactly what they got. I was as unhappy with the players as anyone last week, but tonight I feel they deserve all the credit they get.

As for Ronny, I think we finally saw his mark on the team tonight. They looked hungrier, and pressed harder than I’ve seen in a long time. It caught up with some in the end, but I think he made the subs at the right times to cover this. I think he told wee Forrest to go out and run at them until you’ve nothing left and I’ll bring you off. He’s a player who’s frustrated me in the past – not because I don’t rate him, but because I often felt he gave things up too easily – but his contribution in the first half was impressive IMO. Not that everything he tried came off, but he committed players and caused trouble the whole time he was on apart from the last 10 mins before he went off. Ronny spotted it and reacted immediately. Same with Stokes and Commons, although they perhaps contributed less overall, which I know is odd to say since they created/scored the opener, but there was far more effort from them, particularly Stokes IMO.

As for individuals, I thought Gordon did what little he had to do well, other than one slightly dodgy kick, but that’s being very picky. His most impressive action of the night for me was in the first half at 0-0 when he came about twelve yards off his line to collect a dangerous cross and immediately took the pressure off his defence before throwing it out to start an attack. The back line showed the most jitters for me, but I think that was understandable, as when the whole team is low on confidence, they know any mistake from them is likely to be most costly. Biton had a nice steady game, nothing too fancy, just winning the ball and playing sensible passes. Johansen too, seemed to never stop moving, and with a little more confidence might score a few goals from the positions he gets into. McGregor put another good shift in and appears to be growing in confidence by the game. Boerrigter looks a lot more confident to me. Perhaps this is partly due to him being completely free of injury and feeling good for the first time since he arrived, but he looked hungrier than ever, summed up by his grabbing of the ball for the free kick he took. Finally, big Joe Berget. Done more tonight than he did in his last game. Some nice touches and lay-offs, and was unlucky with a difficult header from a great ball in from Boerrigter.

On the game. Great work from Commons for the first and a well taken finish by Stokes. That composure for me is Stokes at his best (I also happen to think he has the best touch of anyone in the squad at the moment, just don’t feel he’s lethal enough to be a main striker). Biton taking the pen was a surprise, but this time he showed ice cool composure to make it look easy. The third was lovely to watch. Fair enough they were down to ten by then, and McGregor got a bit of luck with the ball squirming under the keeper, but the quick passes in the lead up were, for me, on of the first real signs of some real confidence coming to the bhoys. Both penalty claims could have been given and both could have been refused for the way the player went down. It cost them, and didn’t cost us. The St.J player could easily have stayed on his feet but chose to go down in a way which didn’t look natural, and while I do think he was clipped, you could say he was lucky not to get himself booked if the ref has decided he didn’t see a foul. Boerrigter also went down in a strange way, but without being biased (I hope), a nudge in the back on a player who’s going at full speed will always make him lose balance and I feel this was what caused his strange fall.

After what’s gone on in the last couple of games, we were never going to come out and wipe the floor with them tonight. They are a well organised team who battle for everything and always give us a tough game up there. For these reasons, I think tonight was a great performance. Saturday at home should be another good, slightly harder, test against a team more likely to offer more going forward. If we come through that with any sort of win, then I think we’ll be as well prepared for Maribor on Tuesday as possible given the squad we have.

  19. 1. Long way to go, but there is promise in this Celtic team.

    2. Neil McCann… a disgrace to the port and his family. Souptaker.Quite rightly disowned.

    3. Andy Walker.. embarassing pseudo intellectual soup taker without the intellect or vocabulary to carry it off. Craig Burley with more O levels.

    4. Bring this season on.

    5. Big Ronny… this man could build something special. Long game thinking required.

I thought ronny spoke very well – remember he’s new here – onwards and hopefully upwards – we still need to strengthen hh

  21. West Wales Celt on

Berget, McGregor, Forest and, surprisingly, Derk all positives.

    Gordon looked assured.

Agree Stefan kept showing and trying despite having a poor game but we looked light-weight in midfield.

    Better from Kayal.

Freaky penalty decisions, makes a change.

Nothing yet to scare Marimor though.

    Striker, pleeeease…

  22. I liked Ronny’s comment about where it started to go wrong after 20 minutes.

Until then we had been playing the ball out wide but changed to going through the middle and kept losing the ball.

The thing is though Ronny if we are going to go out wide we need more than nobody in the box.

Sort that and things will look a bit different.

Pity McGregor is not 6ft 2. The lad has goals in him.

  23. If that’s the reaction we’re gonna get from McCann every time Celtic win, can we have him on every week? Loving his pain.

Reasonable performance and a good result. Lots to improve on – we still need a goalscorer.

  24. Aulheid

Think Berget showed he might be worth a wee shout as the man in the middle to attack crosses? Went for a couple and was unlucky with one from Boerrigter cross. Also showed some nice touches.

Very occasional poster but daily lurker. I remember half time v Kilmarnock when this site was almost to a man demanding NFL s sacking. Shame on you all who did and you know who you are. Thanks to Neil we are now on to four in a row. That’s right four. (4) (FOUR) (IV) I thought we were average tat best tonight but we will get better. Those of a certain age will remember the 1990’s and the total misery yet we went home and away and those who don’t get what happened when Sevco killed Scottish football then change your sport because you are dragging us down with them. Our song says We don’t care if we Win, Lose or Draw darn the hell do we care. I’ll wake up a Celtic supporter in the morning and thank God for that but OMG this site must be full of FNs. BTW I’d like to thanks Winning Captains for ensuring CQN books profits go to charity. Well done. HH.

Don’t come on here bleating about McCann every bloody week!

  29. St Stivs,,, if you’re still on, I was in the shammy at the same time as Michael Kerr ( back in the wee dickie days) He had an aura of greatness on a parklea football pitch even at a young age. I always thought he would end up a celtic player. Any idea what happened to him?
