Celtic collected all three points from St Mirren Park at lunchtime today but were under the cosh for most of the game. James Forrest opened the scoring in the 71st minute before Scott Brown secured the points two minutes from time to secure Celtic’s 11th consecutive SPL win.
Marc McAusland forced an early save from Fraser Forster on the goal line as a notice of intent on how the first half traffic was going to flow before Gary Hooper made Celtic’s only attempt on goal in the first half, a hooked shot from 35 yards. After 15 minutes a Mulgrew corner was headed towards his own goal by Steven Thompson, who was fortunate the ball struck his own player on the line. Five minutes alter Thompson tested Forster with a header at the other end which was saved well. Graham Carey had a good chance late in the first half but shot wide from a tight angle.
The second half started in much the same patter with St Mirren flowing forward at every opportunity and Celtic looking out of sorts. Paul McGowan setup Dougie Imrie on his St Mirren debut but Forster saved well again. The home team’s best chance of the game came when a Van Zanten shot from just outside the box was flicked towards the opposite post by McGowan but Forster somehow managed to twist his body and flick the ball safe.
Neil Lennon realised his formation wasn’t working and withdrew Samaras and Ki for Stokes and Commons, the addition of the latter proving crucial. Commons set pieces, intelligent use of his body and possession troubled St Mirren. On 59 minutes his corner was met by Rogne, whose goal-bound header struck McAusland on the raised arm, although the defender knew little about it.
On 71 minutes a Commons free kick was punched clear by Samson by Scott Brown met it at the edge of the area before rolling the ball in front of James Forrest. The Celtic wide player shot first-time from 19 yards and found the inside of the post to open the scoring.
St Mirren continued to push forward and McAusland forced yet another save by Forster. Hooper played a one-two with Stokes before shooting narrowly wide but a minute later Imrie came just as close to drawing St Mirren level.
An 88th minute short corner by Commons to Scott Brown caught St Mirren sleeping. The Celtic captain slipped a left foot shot inside the far post, a carbon copy of his Scottish Cup goal against Rangers last season.
A minute from time a Commons free kick was headed in off the post by Thomas Rogne but the assistant referee incorrectly flagged for offside despite the Celtic defender being four yards onside. The game poor advert for the SFA officials with a bizarre collection of mistakes made over which team knocked the ball out of play at corners and throw–ins.

Did the Parma case not involve a full confessional and public repentance including five Hail Mary’s?

I also think that there may be few precedencies of tax fraud.

Seems an odd one alright. Probably a wee rascally virus or something unpleasant anyway.
Might be worthwhile raising it with our host…if it’s not on his radar already.
While I don’t wish to give these potentially pernicious attention-seekers any more of a profile, better safe etc etc etc…
Find a precedent time is it?
I thought there were several in Scottish football already – and nine of them led back to the top division
Haven’t see the Sunday Post story, but I would have thought it has little impact on what happens to the Huns.
Last season the Argentinian FA reinstated (I believe) River Plate to the top division after they were relegated. (This is the Argentinaen equivalent of the Huns being relegated. I don’t think FIFA batted an eyelid).
Dodgy manoevres in Italy ten years ago cannot possibly be held up as precedent for the Huns case. Much more relevent are the SFA articles of association and the SPL rules. Now of course, these can be amended/ignored to suit RFC (who would be surprised?); but that would still leave NewCo RFC and the authorities open to legal challenges from potentially every club in Scotland (or individual shareholders of any of these clubs…)
It also ignores the non-football element of the Huns’ case – HMRC. I am not entirely familiar with the Parma case, but it would not surprise me in the Italian tax authorities were, erm, a little more lax in holding businesses to account for evasion/avoidance.
In the case of NewCo RFC, any attempt by the footballing authorities to pretend that NewCo was just a continuation of OldCo would be an open invitation to HMRC to slap NewCo with OldCo’s tax bill. You can’t have it both ways – NewC cannot be a clean company if it assumes every aspect of OldCo’s history, assets, and memberships.
And of course, the SFA/SPL would potentially be in the position of effectively condoning a very obvious attempt to avoid paying up to 50million pounds in tax. In today’s climate – is that wise?
My biggest hope in this case is that the Huns’ fate does not depend only on the footballing authorities. If it did, I would totally accept that they would be saved. But the governmental and legal authorities are – I hope- not as beholden to the games and aims of Scotland’s biggest institution outside Carstairs…
Mwd. There is a place in Sydney that does square slice
It’s the real thing , fat and all

I think you have hit the nail on the head. The Newco has to be.an entity of its own significantly different from Rangers FC.
Hmrc will be watching.
Newco will have no players as the Rangers players registrations will be held by the SFA.
Will this fit into football season timetable.
This will all be under the scrutiny of international media. I expect the English media to be very critical of the SFA. There is no love list thete especially over the Team GB for the.Olympics.
Vmhan – good movie mate….we found it eventually…great story, the missus is teaching the book as part of the Leaving Cert curriculum so was treated to the full analysis, although I think she was more interested in Mr McAvoy!
Thanks again
Morning all……I see the Sunday Post have a wee discrete column on 2 Police Officers being injured during a “RIOT” between 500 rankers and Aberdeen hooligans 20 minutes before the game yesterday……..at Copland Road subway …….Police are still investigating………just looking now for more detail in Sunday Mail…well, maybe not……..
The only reason I am posting thisi is to suggest that Celtic fans be ‘careful’ over the next few months……..???
The best one on the BBC football gossip gr a ing time…
If Huns sell Jelavic they are far getting Grant Holt from Norwich as a replacement.
So a guy who is managed by a Celtic legend who is ring a great job in the EPL is going to be released to save the Huns
Watching Holt each week he can muscle most defences down there . Lambert will never release one of his key players for survival unless it was for £silly… End of the season Sholt will get offers from skid mid tabs teams, everton or the like…
Where to they get these flights of fantasy from… Makes you wonder, eh?
Had a wee swatch of the back pages of the Sundays in the supermarket there
Oh dear. The Laptop Loyal are hurting this morning. “Celtic leave it late”, “Spurs in for Forrest”. You actually have to look inside the papers at the league table to find any notification that we are 4 POINTS CLEAR.
Anyway, latest striker linked with us is Jorge Molina of Betis, available for circa £2m
Next season’s SC dates are all changing. SPL clubs will play their 4th round ties on Sat,Sun December 1st, this is apparently due to falling attendances at SC ties in January
Next years SC Final will be played on a Sunday (May 26th) with a 3pm ko
The 2013 FA Cup Final will be played on May 11th with a 1730 ko time

Posted by Sabre67 last night, we must lodge (!) a formal complaint against Francis Andrews. either a blatant cheat or a horrendous incompetent.
Sabre67 says:

Linesman Francis Andrews contributed 5 (five) glaring incorrect decisions against Celtic this afternoon – four of which were in the second half. That’s some going for one man, but when added to the imfamous Artur Boruc decision against Falkirk, it suggests more than coincidence.
1. Clear handball in the box from corner at his side. How was it possible for both linesman and ref to miss handball way above the defender’s head.
2. Obvious corner as the ball deflected off a defender, with Andrews having a completely unobstructed view, gave a goal kick.
3. Rogne goal, 3 yards onside, disallowed by Andrews for other Celtic players in offside position,
4. The Scott Brown throw-in incident. Andrews gives a throw-in to St Mirren after their defender heads it our unchallenged and Brown allows it to roll out.
5. Dougie Imrie trips Joe Ledley off the ball right in the linesman line of sight. Dear oh dear.
Worth the watching.
As for Crawford Allen, goodness gratious me. The match was littered with awful decisions – Celtic getting a corner when Forrest hit the bar with a cross. Imrie escaping with a warning for a shocker of a foul on Brown. This guy is heading for the juniors
Italia Bhoy….Dynamite…!!!!……are you sure the taxman could ‘chap the door’ of the newco, IF any ‘connection’ remained…….now that WOULD be a revelation……this just gets more intriging by the day…….!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CQN is often a font of knowledge. So, can anyone tell me the name of a very short film which reverses the social acceptability of eating and excreting? I believe the film was only a few minutes long and was French with subtitles. It may well have been from around the 1950`s. Impress me CQN,

Apparently Chelsea fans were making racist chants during the game against Norwich yesterday.
Explains why it was rather quiet at Ibrix then
“Tottenham have placed a £150m price tag on Wales international Gareth Bale, 22.”
Ally McCoist is said to be discussing the situation with Craig Whyte
timing………sublime.
The big difference yesterday was the introduction of Commons and Stokes. We suddenly looked threatening and the way the three of them link up, think February through to April last season, will take us to the title. Lenny has obviously been seduced by Sammi’s run of form but he has to remember Sammi + 1 up front as a partnership doesn’t work.
Fraser Forster MOTM, kept us in it until the cavalry arrived.

The best thing for Bangura would be to go out on loan until the end of the season, get some game time, score some goals and get used to the ‘british’ style game. Come back in the summer ready to hit the ground running by impressing in pre-season.
I thought we weren’t allowed to mention the Huns on here.
Oh and another thing,
Had a little chat last night with my source on all things Hunnery
It seems ‘The Wig’ has been calling various agents with instructions to get Bentfoot + Elbows off the books. Do you want to know what these 2 haddies are earning? You do? Ok, i’ll tell you. Make sure you are near a toilet as you will p** yourself with laughter
Bentfoot £12k a week
Elbows £15k a week
That’s over £1.3m a year on 2 of the worst footballers you will ever see.
I was also told that the Huns have no chance of getting all of their Jelavic money upfront. Instalments, as is the way with any big transfer
Jelavic apparently is very headstrong about where he wants to go. QPR + West Ham ain’t on his list of destinations.
If no big club comes in for him, he is going to sit tight until after the Euros in the summer
Whytey is in big, big soapy if he can’t bring in serious money to Ibrox in the next 10 days
Its good to be a Tim :)
Loaning Bangura out is a stupid idea, who would we play up front in bounce games?;)

forgot about that :)
Kayal33- The game at Pittodrie on 1st Feb when we won 3-0, the Commons-Hooper-Stokes interplay was sublime, the first goal in particular was a thing of beauty.
If they can recapture even 75% of that understanding (+ wee Jamsie) then the rest of this season is going to be one to remember.

Regarding our Captain, I posted on here before a story
about the bold Broonie. My son was attending physio
and the physio also works for Celtic my wife got talking
and asked him who his favourite player was and you’ve
guessed it Broonie, he also said everyone at the club
loves him a real character, but he also stated that
Neil Lennon is his biggest fan.
Kris Commons can be like a new player for us in the second half of the season. It may be too much to expect the goalscoring impact he made last year but his overall contribution can be just as vital

River Plate were not saved from relegation – they currently sit second in Primera B.
—
re Param ’68 – they merged with another team (effectively took it over) in a move similar to that of Airdire buying out Clydebank.
Worryingly, their troubles and subsequent salvation in 2004 mirror that facing the orcs today, with the exception that the top dog there embezzled from the company as opposed to allegedly ripping the tax man off.
However…
Where the similarities truly end, is that Parma’s debts were by and large owed to it’s parent company (which sounds familiar, huh?) and not to local tax authorities. The parent company, going bankrupt, waived part of the debts after a number of top players were sold off – I’m not sure HMRC will be so accommodating.
I’m also unsure as to whether Parma became truly bankrupt, as we suppose the orcs will.
Anyone shed any light on that?
MWD
Just finished a plate of porridgr sprinkled with blueberries.
I called them Elbows, Mcgregor Jelavic etc as they went doon to the dunny. Fun food.
