St Mirren back on track after Robinson departure

110

St Mirren nosedived after their League Cup win on 14 December.  A few days later they beat Livingston, but they won only two of the 15 games between Christmas and Stephen Robinson leaving for Aberdeen last month.  People in Paisley will ponder if Robinson was the problem, as they have won three of the four games since he left, including a win over Aberdeen on Saturday.

Whatever ailed them has been resolved and they will arrive at Celtic Park on Saturday intent on doing damage to Celtic again.  They are managed on an interim basis by Academy coach Craig McLeish, who has brought a fresh voice to the dressing room.  He has not had time to make fundamental changes to tactics, so his opening plan needs to be disrupted.

The League Cup Final is only one of the difficult days St Mirren have caused us this season.  The league campaign started with their visit to Celtic Park, when Luke McCowan scored with a deflected 87th minute shot.  Then in November, Callum McGregor scored a 95th minute winner in Paisley.  They are a team who know how to prepare for Celtic.  The champions need to make sure the visitors are not allowed to interrupt the flow of the game and play for free kicks, whenever possible.

I watched them against Hertz and thought their squad would be worth a fortune if the players had better technical ability.

    They have quick, strong athletes.

Good that GB are back- hopefully the atmosphere at CP gets a big boost.

You might have imagined in the first instance a statement of positivity from them with the interests of unity and supporting the team for the last 4 home games being uppermost.

The time for resolution of outstanding issues (indeed recriminations) could have been later.

Nope- we see a statement centred almost exclusively on the GB with only an ultimate throwaway comment about all having their part to play (which appears to relate more to support for the GB rather than the team).

It would have been bigger and better of the GB to simply welcome the decision and to all all fans to do their best to create a Celtic Park cauldron for the last part of the season.

    1450 short of capacity.

surely saturday, 3pm, daylight, fair weather, gb back, st mirren only 700 tickets, and the smallest of segregation area,

surely we can get to 60,000 in attendance.

cmon celtcs get there and support the bhoys.

  5. Every team and game is a challenge to Celtic this season, one game at a time and none taken for granted no matter who is the boss of the opposition.

  6. I keep thinking, what St. Mirren player would get into the Celtic team?

But, immediately, I think, what Celtic player should be in a Celtic team?

Usual cautionary tale before we play X, Paul.

    Fair enough.

Free hit for them as far as I am concerned.

Plus they’ll get a look at us before SC SF.

They are one of 4 teams in the mix for the relegation play off spot (11th place finish).

This is where their focus will be.

When it comes right down to it?

We are Celtic. They are not.

We are at home. They are not.

We are going for the title. They are not.

    Over to us.

And now if 200 wee bhoys and lhassies are banned by Celtic PLC the 60,000 all seated [family section flavoured] stadium is a boring morgue, library, like Ibrox was under John Greig’s management when they weren’t being visited by the Cellic JUNGLE era fans.

Even Huns have told me this: “No Tims, No Sheep, visiting us, and we play in a library” they said.

All seating has cut the uppity balls off of supporters in every seated stadium and the over-spill effect on society at large has transformed society into a LARGE docile sheeple pen were anybody who has retained their uppitynes will be viewed as a troll, malcontent, racist, right wing nazi, boat stopper, etc.

The covid plandemic proved that 80% of society are brainwashed by the media and they think that the Government is their mummy and daddy!

Sad are the homes…dizny scratch the surface.

We are ready to launch it now, and the thing will go live on April 17 when people can apply. I can exclusively reveal tonight that Paul McStay will be the Celtic legend and ambassador who is fronting up the Season Ticket Alliance.

“I believe that we can set up an alliance as a conduit for discussions with the board. I know other people are trying to do that at the moment but I believe this will do that, and that is something that will appeal to the season ticket holders’
