St Mirren show how to slow football down with multiball

106

At the start of Saturday’s game I had no interest in who would finish fifth in the league and secure the final European qualification spot. Not long into that St Mirren performance and I was rooting for Dundee United to earn the points they needed to stay above the Paisley team.

Referee David Dickinson added one minute to the first half, a period during which play had been stopped for players to get treatment and Dickinson warned St Mirren goalkeeper Zach Hemming for timewasting. Multiball is supposed to speed up the game, on Saturday it only allowed Hemming to run past the nearest ball, to fetch one further away.

He wasn’t the only St Mirren player to utilise multiball to slow things down, O’Hara walked off the pitch to collect a spare ball and knock it onto the field. He was booked. On 88 minutes Dickinson finally acted on the more random timewasting by booking Fraser. Had he executed his duties 80 minutes earlier the game would have been better served. Refereeing can be difficult, but enforcing rules on timewasting is as easy as it gets. It’s the referee who was at fault, not St Mirren players.

James Forrest’s 94th minute equaliser was 16 seasons in the making. 15 years and two weeks after making a scoring debut, Scottish football’s record trophy winner got the goal the fans have wanted since his return from injury in March.

Trophy Day had its climax, Celtic Park celebrated as St Mirren players collapsed on the turf, exhausted from all that running to collet balls from distance. It was a moment of joy, before the trophy presentation and we left Celtic Park for the final time this season.

GKs need to be penalised for falling to the ground after catching a ball, absolutely hate it

The time wasting by the huns was worse then St Mirren however what angered me was Dickinson’s positioning just up from the ‘D’ which disrupted our play and was certainly deliberate!

Dickinson isn’t the only ref who does this but he is by far the worst . It has been a feature of quite a few of our domestic games . It’s something you rarely see in our European games or in games involving other teams/leagues, e.g. the EPL. So it’s really noticeable when it continuallly happens with us . The ref should be aware of players around him and is bound to know when he’s in the way of play .

If you didn’t know who the Sevco Wummans manager was,you would pick her out of a line up no problem.

  7. Unfortunately Dundee FC manager Tony Docherty, unceremoniously sacked by the Dens board, can’t fall back on a pundit job like serial loser Craig Levein. For once Dundee playing some good football and producing exciting players like Luke McGowan. Again not a cry from the Forsyths and the forsaken who populate the Scottish fitba media

If the new rules don’t include bye kicks, it is a waste of time.

The st Mirren keeper was wasting between 20 and 30 seconds at every bye kick.

More time than when he had the ball in his hands.

I would have thought that the Alan Muir episode and wee Willie Collum’s watchful eye might have made the more hunnish refs be a bit less blatant . Obviously not in the bold Dickinson’s case . In terms of hunnish refs he is the ‘real deal’.

One of the rare things Scotland is elite level at, producing Hun refs.

quantum- re the new 8 seconds rule for GKs,the Celtic Park crowd will definitely assist in counting it out….’ 1,2,3……..’ will find out cheats like Dickinson as well

    ‐———————————————————————–

Exactly GGH – futile if not applicable in that situation.

I may be wrong but the 6 second rule is still a rule, just not enforced. It wasn’t enforced that often either when it was just implemented. So we are now replacing a 6 second rule, rarely enforced, with an 8 second one. Can the referees just do their job, using the existing rules and if we have a couple of weeks of multiple sending offs and bookings, then so be it. I feel we need a bit of shock and awe with current players and managers to get them away from all this time wasting and dark arts I e. cheating.

Just seen the huns ‘goal’ was there any mention of Raskin fouling the defender?

Don’t agree with this statement Paul.

Dickinson well in the wrong undoubtedly.

But no way should St Mirren get a pass.

This is coached behaviour pure and simple.

    Break up the play.

For each of the 50 breaks in play, squeeze another 12 seconds before restart.

    Result?

90 minute game is shortened by 10 minutes or 11%.

I’m a big fan of the 60 minute game clock suggestion … but this is a wider issue than fans being short changed.

Slowing the game down interrupts attacking momentum AND gives extra time for recovery from aerobic deletion.

Crucial breathers for your big muscular types.

    All part of Robinson’s strategy.

Changes to timekeeping are part of wider change.

Sin bins will be part of football within 10 years

  15. Surely Brendan should have called out his mate Robinson and especially the ref for that performance. On a day when it was not sour grapes as we were celebrating then a wee light shone on the blatantly poor officiating would have been good.

Not being critical of him but just think why not. 60000 folk cheated out of 50 minutes worth of football.

Police scotland, local authority and now scottish government get in on the ‘kick a tic down’ following the street party in trongate. Pitty none of the above actually tried to work with the working people they are meant to serve rather than just demonising after the fact. Football supporters and the working class in general are treated with distain in this wee shite country.

Nothing would be easier than setting up a large safe zone in one of the many large public parks in glasgow for football supporters to attend safe zones to celebrate winning etc…

It’s no that hard, they are always able to facilitate hundreds of matches every year and they even manage to close multiple roads in the city for full days for middle class folk from the burbs to run round for a jolly despite the nagative impact on businesses and locals etc…

    Hypocrisy at its very best.

Brendan spoke out last season at the Hearts game and got Nick de Marco to represent him un the hearing… this lead to a shake up of the Scottish Refereeing establishment and the sacking of their head honcho.

This season he spoke out about VAR and got Alan Muir sacked.

Fair to say that Brendan Rodgers has managed more in two years than Peter Lawwell has managed in twenty.

Might be wrong, but think Matt O’Reilly could do a good job for Manchester City if he is no longer welcome at Brighton. Especially with De Brounie gone. Big step up but Matt could take it

I think you need help. Your sensitivity is a real worry.

I have highlighted many times where I see mistakes from board and others running the club.

You seem to be totally unable to accept even a constructive point reflecting exactly what you say in that BR has in the past influenced things. I think it could have been good to highlight it on Saturday re one of the worst displays we have seen

Barry Ancelotti, the patsy with a big orange motor, fell over the marble staircase and out the front door.

The real bigots set him up whilst the latest ‘make Rainjurz great again ‘ attempt bubbled under. Full well they knew, that sacking a European ahem tier one rated manager, would change nothing especially not the appointment of Nobody and the three bears.

‘Ma players’ ‘ ma staff ‘ ‘ma tactics’ ‘ a lack of inconsistency’ and many more, was only going to end one way, at least they had the decency to tell him about his fate unlike some who found out in their beloved media or whilst on gardening leave.

Partners in crime will now launch a media career? A reserved occupation in Scotland, despite a lack of basic everything, bereft of career credentials, he’d already sank without trace somewhere near Alloa and well they knew it.

Media love a wee celtic players leaving rumour. I know we always sell players and expect that will continue. i dont expect many 1st teamers to go. Hopefully the bulk of sales come from players on the fringes.

How many times did useless Barry defeat wonderful Brendan?

How many times have the wonderful Celtic board put our fans and media right about Sevco not being the same club as Rangers?

How many fans out of Celtic’s entire fan base have been in touch with the board about Celtic and Sevco retaining Rangers price from 2012 £49/£52/£54/£56 onto Old Firm tickets for league games since Sevco`s 2016 promotion to SPL?

Or how many fans who run blogs have even written an Article about this brazen, criminal, ugly deception with these ticket prices?

Or how many posters have even written a single post about the boards silent sneaky ticket criminality?

Or how many posters only post to criticise Kev Jungle, the only Celtic fan in the entire Celtic fan base who speaks the only truth about our great clubs criminal deception to keep Old Firm games on the season ticket?

Let he/she who is innocent of any of these above charges post your evidence were you have called out [failure to do so means your word cannot and wont be trusted] this criminality participated in by our board since 2016 after Sevco got promoted to SPL, post your evidence to demonstrate your pure Celtic soul.

As it stands only Kev Jungle has a pure Celtic soul having subscribed to ZERO Celtic board criminality to allow Sevco to pretend to be Rangers.

Given Saturday`s display by Celtic fans on Glasgow street`s then the Old Firm equality was there for all to see trashy to say the least.

The demise of the “Best Fans In The World” label is now complete.

It is sad to see. Leaving games just after halftime to avoid hours of traffic jams, caused by the duplicitous politicians you all voted for, next to no scarves held up for YNWA, now hardly anybody singing YNWA either [anti English?] who knows, singing Davie Cooper songs, ticket distribution rigged, no fan org to resolve = sneaky antic on the rise and rise, no leadership in a leaderless club looks like as ethical as Woolworths did just before it disappeared.

Kev Jungle = GUILTY for speaking to these ugly signals.
